PERCOLATOROPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS PERCOLATOR

GENERAL

D Installation, maintenance and use are to be carried out exclusively by authorised personnel.

D Have a service technician replace the power cord if this is visibly damaged;

D Never dip the appliance in water.

D Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in the tank.

D Always use the appliance on a dry, flat, heat−resistant surface, and make sure it is not placed on the edge.

D The apparatus is not to be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction.

D Children being supervised not to play with the apparatus.

THE APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED

INSTALLATION

D Before using the appliance clean the filter unit, the tube and the inside of the tank with a non−abrasive detergent.

D Place the appliance on a flat solid surface.

D Place the tube and the filter unit inside the tank.

D Connect the plug of the appliance into an earthed wall socket (without switching it on).

THE APPLIANCE IS NOW READY FOR USE

WARNING !

n The outside of the appliance becomes very hot when it is in use. DO NOT TOUCH!

BOILING THE WATER

D Fill the appliance with cold water.

D Place the tube and the filter unit in the appliance.

D Make sure the base of the tube is correctly positioned in the hole situated at the base of the tank.

D Close the appliance using its lid.

D Switch on the appliance by turning the ON/OFF−switch to the ON position. The heating signal light should then go on.

D When about 3 cups of water remain in the tank, switch off the appliance by turning the ON/OFF−switch to the OFF position and unplugging the electric cable.

THERMAL SECURITY THERMOSTAT

D The appliance is equipped with a thermal security thermostat. If the latter engages, the appliance switches off automatically. If the appliance after approx. 20 minutes doesn’t restart automaticly, please consult your dealer.

HEATING UP WATER FOR INSTANT DRINKS

Fresh water can be heated up in the appliance for preparing instant drinks. Simply fill the cleaned appliance with COLD Fresh water up to the desired level according to the number of cups and place the tube and the filter unit in the correct position. Connect the plug into the eathed wall socket and turn the

ON/OFF−switch to the ON position. The water will heat up. Switch it off and disconnect the plug when about 3 cups of water remains in the tank.

When the appliance is used only for heating water, it must be thoroughly cleaned after use. This is in addition to the special weekly cleaning for which vinegar must be used so that the calcium deposits can be removed.

If these deposits are not removed, the metal may become pitted and this can damage the appliance.

MAKING COFFEE

Note :

− We recommend making at least 30% of the maximum coffee capacity of the appliance.

− It is preferable to use coarse−grained coffee.

D Fill the water tank depending on the amount of coffee desired.

D Place the tube and the filter support in the tank, making sure that the base of the tube is correctly positioned in its cavity.

D Place ground coffee in the filter unit

(approximately 30 to 40 g per litre).

D Close the percolator by replacing the lid. Turn it clockwise to lock.

D Switch on the percolator by pressing the ON/OFF−button.

The red light will come on. When the green light comes on, the coffee is ready and will be kept hot automatically.

CLEANING AFTER USE

D Take out the filter unit and the tank tube; empty the filter contents into the rubbish bin.

D Rinse out the filter unit, the lid and the tube.

D Rinse out the inside of the tank until it is clean. The appliance is now ready for use again.

MAINTENANCE

D Clean the filter unit and the lid with a non−abrasive detergent and dry them with a soft dry cloth.

D The inside and the tube are of stainless steel and can therefore be cleaned with a product and a scouring pad.

D For the tap to operate normally, the hole at the bottom of the tank must not be furred up. If necessary, use a descaling agent.

D To clean the tap unit use a bottle brush, moving it back and forth. Insert it in the tap opening inside the tank to clean the intermediate part linking the tap to the appliance. Wash the tap handle with hot soapy water and rinse.

* Do not use bicarbonate of soda to clean the appliance as this may permanently discolour and pit the metal.
