Enjoy all-round benefits with an all-round image

Introducing Sony Europe Image Sensing Solutions’ (ISS) panoramic camera modules - a highly cost-effective, reliable and versatile camera solution. Designed to offer a real 360 o view, the RPU-C251 and RPU-C352 modules take camera technology to a whole new level with all-round imaging that you can view in real time. This means users can watch a full, live and undistorted panoramic image without having to combine or ‘stitch’ shots together using complex software, multiple cameras or multiple shots.

Ceiling Mount Model RPU-C352

Benefits

True panoramic image

Both modules combine a CCD image sensor and panoramic annular lens in one to create the unique 360 o panoramic image.

The image of all the surroundings is reflected twice on two reflective surfaces, one in the lower part of the lens and the other at the top. This allows a

360° panoramic view consisting of 38° above the plane of the lens and 17° below for the desktop model (RPU-C251), or from 0 o to 66 o for the ceiling mounted model (RPU-C352).

Versatile and adaptable

As well the annular image, modules support six types of images including 360 o panoramic, tetrametic, zoom, pan, tilt and a sweeping image from side to side

– all through a standard video signal. With so many functions, there are wide ranging applications for both models.

NTSC, PAL and VGA

Modules support three standards of video signal systems, ensuring images can be directly displayed on a TV monitor. Providing both PAL and NTSC in one single product is rare and is ideal for meeting different standards worldwide.

Reliable and cost-effective

Because there are less moving parts, and no rotation system, reliability is increased. This dramatically reduces maintenance and keeps power consumption to a minimum, further reducing total cost of ownership (TCO). Also, with a built-in DSP function it’s easy to get up and running – just add a compatible control and interface circuit. Both modules are easy to integrate into third party products.

Applications

The possibilities are endless

Due to their compactness, high functionality, multiple features and ease of integration, the cameras offer distributors and integrators a highly innovative product with a wide range of applications. These include:

• Security applications-

Combined with a motion detection system, the 360° panoramic camera offers a higher level of security, and is specially useful for remote monitoring requirements.

• Videoconferencing applications-

Ideal for viewing a number of people around the table in a single view.

• Webcasting applications-

Various number of webcasting applications can be reached like web visits

(museums, houses, cities) with the ability for multiple users to access the camera at the same time through the web.

• Remote recording applications-

Ideal to record client consultations with widely dispersed individuals.

• Many other applications.

Technology

Sony Image Sensing Solutions is releasing the RPU panoramic camera as an OEM module aimed at value added manufacturers and integrators.

The RPU uses a 360° full-circle lens with a 1.3M-pixel, 7.5 fps

CCD to output a ring-shaped image as a composite video signal. Proprietary Sony DSP technology ensures that the doughnut image is reformed as a perfect panoramic view.
