1. EVS Software
1.1
INTRODUCTION
The EVS so ftwa re is us e d for con figu rati on an d m ainte nance oper atio ns. I t is also
used to se lect wh ich ap p licat ion to ru n, sin ce EV S disk reco rder s have t h e abili ty
to ru n var ious ded ica ted applic ati ons (Vide o Se rve r, Slo w Mo tion ,…).
When tur ning on th e E VS mainf rame , the firs t step is the PC boot s equenc e,
follow ed by th e boot of the video I /O boar ds, and fina lly th e EVS sof t ware is
start ed.
If a d efau lt a ppli cat ion has be en p revi ously sel ected , th is ap plic atio n w ill s tart
automa tica lly aft er a few second s if no key is hit.
If a defau lt appl ica tion h as not been d efin ed or if the space ba r is hit, th e system
will remai n i n t he E VS main m enu (see sn apsh o t on nex t p age) and wai t for the
operat or's nex t com mand .

The e xtra cted fi les are lo cated in C:\ LSMCE \DATA \LOG. The ir name sta rts with an
unders core : The reg u lar log fi le “Mul tica m_Datab ase. log ” i s r enamed
“_ Mult icam_ Data base .log ” once ex tract ed w hen th e app lica tion is runn ing.

PURPOSE
An As Run Log i s a file which lo gs what h as bee n effec tive ly play ed on a channel
and wh en. The As Ru n Lo g will hav e a form at s uch as a n EDL .

AS RUN LOG MECHANISM
The As Run Log me chan i sm is not an au tomat ic pr ocess. I t must be t rigg er ed by a
start c ommand on the E V S video se rver a nd is ha n dled th roug h the PC LA N port of
the MT PC bo ard of the E VS ser ver.
The As Run Log func tio n can b e ac tiva ted or d ea ctiva ted from the VGA s c reen o f
an EVS se rver o r from th e Playl ist Pa nel o f IPDi re ctor. R efer t o the P layl ist Panel
user m anua l of the IPDi r ector suit e fo r mor e in for mation on the IPDir ecto r As Run
Log f unct ion.
The As Run Log is a ch ar acteri stic of a c hann el.
When it is act iva ted from the EVS serve r, the se r ver gene rate s an event c hannel
log fi le, the serv er As Run Lo g, a nd s tores it on the serve r lo cal storag e
(C:\mu ltic am\as runl og\p la yerX, wh ere X is t he num ber of th e corr espon ding player
from 1 to 6) . Th is file wi l l con tain al l t he o pera tio ns wh ich have bee n d one on the
channe l si nce the As R un Log m echa nism has star t ed.
When it is ac tiva ted fr o m IPDirec tor, t he fin al A s Run Log fil e is crea te d in two
diffe rent ste ps:

First, th e EVS vid eo s erv er gen erat es the serve r A s Run Log.
•
Second ly, a c onf igura ble merger a ppli cati on ca n analyz e the s erve r As Run
Log f ile and form at it i n t he fi nal As R un L og f orm at. I t c an r etri eve the As Run
log file s from eac h play er and merge th em to p rovide a si ngle fi le per EVS
server per day .

5.1

Sony BVW75 Protocol
This prot ocol al lows the server to be se en as a V TR by the co ntro llin g d ev ice. On
a pla yback cha nnel , a ll usua l tr ansp ort comma nds (p lay , Pl ayVar , pa u se, g oto
timeco de, stop , e tc…) a re su pport ed. On a re co rd ch annel , o nly Rec an d Sto p
command s ar e su ppor ted .
This prot ocol is th e s impl est o ne but doe s n ot sup port clip ma nagem ent. I t should
be use d wh en t he c ontr o lling dev ice does not su pport the Xte nDD35 , Od etics or
Louth VDCP p roto cols (ex: e dit cont roll ers, NLE app lic atio ns, s o me vide o
switch ers, VTR cont roll er s, et c.).
EVS ha s al so a dapt ed t h e beha vior of spec ifi c co mmands:

REC: w hen a R EC c om mand is sent to a play er ch anne l, this ch anne l will
