High performance TVs that fit where others won’t!
Slim, lightweight HDTV monitors with DLP™ technology
DLP (Digital Light Processing) TV by Samsung is like no other HD monitor that’s come before it. The secret to its
incredible performance is Samsung’s latest generation of light engines. Our Cinema Smooth™ HD light engines deliver
a smooth, film-like picture with no visible pixel structure, high brightness and great contrast. These high-performance
displays incorporate the EMMY-winning Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) from Texas Instruments – the DLP chip.
Equipped with a host of advanced digital interfaces, powerful video processing technologies and slim, lightweight
cabinets, the DLP TV by Samsung takes HD monitors where they’ve never gone before.

Astounding performance and beautiful design are just two of the reasons that
DLP TV by Samsung has garnered awards such as the Industrial Design
Excellence Award (Silver 2004), CES Innovations Award (2004), Video Grand
Prix Award (2004) from AudioVideo International magazine, and Popular
Science’s “Best of What’s New Award” (2002).
DLP™ technology – the worldwide choice for a perfect picture
Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology is the choice of top Hollywood directors and
renowned digital cinemas the world over, because it presents a digital image that’s much
closer to film. It’s the only display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely
digital connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen. While all other
technologies are analog and compromise some image quality in translation, DLP projection
Fits where others won’t
unleashes the full potential of high-quality video content. Projection systems using DLP
technology enable you to see the director’s original vision at full impact again and again,
with no chance of burn-in, screen aging or convergence errors. DLP TV by Samsung
brings that big, film-like picture into your living room.
Slim, lightweight design
DLP TV by Samsung’s tabletop models have bottom-mounted speakers for a thin
bezel and smaller cabinet. Our 61" tabletop design models are less than 17" deep
and weigh under 100 pounds. Their slim, lightweight design is perfect for custom
installations and for use in entertainment centers and home theater cabinets.

Cinema Smooth™ HD light engine
Samsung’s new Cinema Smooth light engines are the
culmination of years of industry-leading research and
development. They release the maximum power of the
new generation of DMD microdisplays for the most film-like
picture. It creates an image with no visible pixel structure
and high contrast ratios from 1500:1 to 2500:1 for deeper
blacks, accurate shading and better low-light detail.

DLP
Conventional
DLP TV by Samsung advantages
The Digital Micromirror Device is covered with tiny mirrors,
which represent High Definition pixel counts that match the
broadcast format 1280 x 720. Because the pixels are less
than one micron apart, there’s virtually no pixel noise or
“screen door” effect as is apparent in other displays.
Smooth film-like images
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI™)
The Cinema Smooth optical engine virtually eliminates the
appearance of pixel structure, so you won’t see any black
lines between the pixels – just a great picture.
HDMI is the only interface on the market today that can
carry uncompressed HDTV images and multi-channel audio
in all HD formats. HDMI is also compatible with DVI-equipped
components, including PCs. Unlike DVI, HDMI will also carry
digital audio signals and data, and HDMI connectors can
be daisy-chained from one component to another in your
TV or home entertainment system. HDMI also supports DVI
via a simple adapter plug.
More efficient operation
Next generation DLP chips
New color wheel
DLP TV by Samsung employs the latest Digital Micromirror
Devices (DMD). These new microdisplays have switching
speeds twice as fast as previous generations and up to 1,000
times faster than competing microdisplay technologies. When
combined with Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engines, the
result is a crisp, bright picture that’s closer to film.
Samsung’s new color wheel is larger, faster and more vivid
than previous models. This 2.6" color wheel spins at 10,800
rpm, and has seven color segments for smoother pictures
and more accurate colors. The new color wheel is also 30%
quieter than previous models.

Conventional
Power saving
DLP TV by Samsung is so efficient that it only requires
a single, 100-watt bulb to power it. The bulb will deliver
more than 5,000 hours of operation. When the bulb expires,
simply replace it and your TV is like new again. No other TV
technology can make this claim.
Single panel design
Digital Visual Interface (DVI)
Samsung’s single-panel design and streamlined optical
engine eliminate convergence errors and color aberrations
that can dramatically reduce picture quality in competing,
three-panel designs.
DVI enables an all-digital rendering of video without the
losses associated with an analog interface. Samsung’s
DVI architecture supports High Definition Copy Protection
(HDCP), necessary for advanced HDTV tuners and DVD
players. DVI also supports HDMI via a simple adapter plug.
No burn-in or screen aging

the DMD is covered with tiny mirrors
Anti-burn-in
technologies
04/05
True digital connections for HDTV
The DLP TV by Samsung simply processes light, so there’s
never any risk of burn-in or screen aging. Unlike other
display technologies, the DMD panel is not susceptible to
the damaging effects of heat, humidity, vibration and aging.
Samsung’s DNIe™ – Digital Natural Image engine
Features and picture
Samsung’s revolutionary Digital Natural Image engine makes the sharpest and clearest images
possible, regardless of the profile of input signals. Five image processors and a six-times density
enhancer ensure the best picture from any source on any screen type. Now in its third generation,
DNIe guarantees the truest colors and highest contrast, while virtually eliminating digital artifacts.
Cinema Mode
Multimedia TV
Samsung’s Cinema Mode lets you see colors the way
the director intended, by matching them more closely to
production standards. This creates more accurate colors
and natural skin tones when viewing Hollywood movies
on your TV.

Video
DLP TV by Samsung is the perfect multimedia TV, thanks
to its wide range of plug-and-play inputs. Ample composite
(RCA), S-Video, and DTV/DVD component (Y/Pb/Pr) inputs
can automatically sense and connect your game consoles,
digital camcorders, digital set-top boxes, etc.

Replacing the lamp/Warranty information
Integrated DTV with CableCARDTM
DLP TV by Samsung’s lamp has a lifespan of approximately 5,000 hours,
depending on use. Since the lifespan of the lamp is virtually flat, you won’t
notice any degradation in the picture as the lamp ages. Eventually, the lamp
will die and need to be replaced.
Select DLP TV by Samsung models are Digital Cable Ready, thanks to
CableCARD technology. Instead of getting a cable box and remote from your
digital cable provider, you’ll get a simple card that plugs directly into your TV.
With CableCARD you can control all of your DTV and HDTV content with your
TV’s remote control. When you are ready to enjoy the world of cable services
like Pay-Per-View Movies and Events and Video On Demand, simply ask the
cable company’s installer to connect the cable box to the component video
input on your TV.
This simple operation can be done by you, but some people may choose to have
a technician perform the service. For information on technicians and to purchase
a new lamp, call 1-800-SAMSUNG or visit samsungparts.com. The lamp costs
approximately $250 (plus tax, shipping and handling).
DLP TV by Samsung is covered by a one-year parts and labor warranty, that also
covers the lamp. If you choose to purchase an extended warranty from your retailer,
ask if it covers lamp replacement and the cost of a technician.
