SMARTRACK 16

1. Introduction

The SmartRack 16 from Minicom is a slim, rack mountable, console drawer with an integrated 16 port KVM switch. Occupying just 1U of rack space, it’s the neat, spacesaving way to control your data rack. It comes with all the hardware you need to mount it, and is easy to install.

You can access and control up to 16 multiple multi-platform computers from one

Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) console with the SmartRack 16 system.

To access your servers, just slide out the SmartRack 16 drawer and flip up its top to use the large, high resolution, clear 17” TFT LCD display (VGA/SVGA/XGA/SXGA compatible) with front-panel display controls for easy adjustment, and high-quality

Touchpad. When not in use, the keyboard is concealed by the front door.

12. Connecting the CAT5 cables

1. Connect one connector to the RICC’s RJ45 port.

2. Connect the other connector to one of the SmartRack 16 Computer ports.

3. Follow the above 2 steps for each computer.

Important!

When the console drawer is connected to a rack with the extension bracket, the drawer can be pushed in/out by about 13cm. Therefore ensure the CAT5 cables have enough slack to allow the console drawer to move in and out. See the diagram below.

18. USB SUN Combo keys

The SmartRack 16 PS/2 keyboard does not have a special SUN keypad to perform special functions in the SUN Operating System environment. So when a RICC USB or

SUN is connected to a SUN computer, the RICC emulates these SUN keys using a set of key combinations called Combo keys. See the table below.
