Flextronics International USA Inc, at Milpitas California
Inbound/Outbound Routing Instructions
The following routing instructions apply on all shipments when freight charges are payable by Flextronics International USA Inc at Milpitas CA.
Flex shipments going to the same address, on the same day, requiring the same transportation mode, are to be consolidated into single daily shipments. Example: Five separate packing slips addressed to same Flex building. Each packing slip shipment weight equals 50 pounds each. Collect all five packing slips and ship as a single consolidated shipment weighing 250 pounds via heavy weight Carriers indicated below. Weight is based on Chargeable weight.
The routing STANDARD for all shipments is SURFACE COLLECT. Air Freight as well as any expedited shipments is to be used as an exception, only when requested by
Flex Procurement with an ePFA number advised. Use the Carrier selection matrix below based upon weight and origin.
Do not insure; do not show a dollar amount under “DECLARED VALUE FOR CARRIAGE” on bill of lading.
Flex will not pay for carrier insurance charges. Insurance charges will be billed back to shipper.
The following information must appear on the Invoice, Packing List, shipping label, and bill of lading for inbound shipments: Flex Purchase Order Number, Flex Part Number,
Price, Manufacturers P/N, Quantity shipped. For computer generated shipments (Powership ect), the Flex Purchase Order number needs to be entered in billing reference field. For outbound shipments, please list the consignee purchase order number on these documents.
When a different Incoterm is selected for an outbound shipment compared to sales order (Ex: DDU changed to FCA) ePFA is required.
Do not ship Prepaid & Add. Flex will not pay Supplier invoices with Prepaid and Add freight charges, unless pre-authorized in writing.
All International shipments greater than 300 Kgs and/or 3 pallets must move via Ocean freight, Air Freight shipment of this weight/size require ePFA.
For FedEx Express Air and FedEx Ground shipments contact Flex Milpitas Site Procurement for the applicable carrier account numbers. UPS is no longer our Carrier
Do NOT use UPS for any air not ground shipments, any UPS charges on Flex account will be charged back to the Shipper.
3rd Party shipments will not be paid by Flex unless prior approval is coordinated with Site Traffic, and the Flex P/O number must be declared as the reference number on Air Way Bills or Bill of Lading.
Failure to comply with this Routing Instruction will result in a charge back of the difference of transportation costs for each shipment not in compliance. A minimum charge back amount of $50.00 for each non-compliant shipment will apply to cover our administrative costs.

Other Important Routing Instructions Information
* (Requires ePFA Approval)
Any shipment that needs to be Expedited, needs to have an ePFA (electronic – Premium Freight Authorization).
Premium Freight Shipments made outside of these instructions, and without an ePFA authorization will be charged back to your Company.
Please record the ePFA number in your system for any justification which may be required later by Flex.
If you have questions regarding the ePFA process, please contact the Flex Buyer for further assistance.
IMPORTANT: Non-compliance to this routing guide that result in un-authorized premium cost will be charged back to the shipper.
How to determine the total CHARGEABLE WEIGHT for AIR shipments
CHARGEABLE WEIGHT is either the actual Gross weight OR the Dimensional (Volume or Chargeable) weight whichever is greater.
Gross weight is the full weight of the shipment, including goods and packaging.
Dimensional weight is a standard formula used throughout the freight industry that considers density when determining charges.
To determine the dimensional weight of an AIR SHIPMENT:
Multiply the package's length by the width by the height (round each fraction to the nearest whole number). The result is the cubic size of the package.
Divide cubic size between 166 (if inches) or 6,000 (if centimeters).
For a multiple-package shipment, add the results for all of the packages.
Note: If you calculate in inches, the dimensional weight is in POUNDS. If you calculate in centimeters, the dimensional weight is in KILOGRAMS.
FedEx Freight shipment and billing information
Make sure to use FedEx Freight (the Trucking division, not FedEx Express Freight the Heavy Weight Air division). Please make sure to check FedEx Freight
Priority service type on Bill of Lading. A FedEx Freight account number is not required for Trucking Freight Collect billing, so please do not call and ask for it.
Mark th e Collect box where it is noted “CHECK BOX IF COLLECT”, otherwise the Freight charges are PREPAID unless marked collect.
P lease leave the “Bill Freight charges to (if different than above)” blank. That is for 3 rd party billing only. DO NOT declare the Materials Bill To address of
5802 Bob Bullock Ct Laredo TX in the "Bill Freight Charges to" box, nor on any Generic Bills of Lading, if you do declare it on Bills of Lading your Company will NOT be reimbursed by Flex for billing errors caused by your mistake.
Ocean Shipments ISF filing data (US Security Filing "10+2" regulation)
Foreign Suppliers Exporting to the USA via Ocean Freight must fill out the Supplier data in the ISF form to provide Flex the needed information to file required data with US Customs 48 Hours Prior to departure of Ocean Vessel. Please provide the completed form to your local Kuehne + Nagel office.
ISF details in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_%2B_2 Flex ISF form at: http://www.flextronics.com/supplier/Pages/resourcecenter.aspx
US Customs may asses a Fine against the Importer in the amount of $5,000 for any shipment that does not comply with ISF filing of accurate ISF data.
Suppliers shipping via Ocean Freight must comply with this requirement; non-compliance fines will result in charge back of costs incurred.
ISPM 15 marking (IPPC)
ISPM 15 affects all solid wood packaging material (SWPM) (pallets, crates, etc.) requiring that they be heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and stamped or branded, with the mark of compliance. Details in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISPM_15 and at http://www.ispm15.com/faq.htm
Suppliers shipping with solid wood packaging materials must comply with this requirement; non-compliance fines will result in charge back of costs incurred.
