The hot air must circulate around the pans in the
oven for even heat to reach all parts of the oven.

Place the pans so that one is not directly over
the other.

For best resutts, allow 1 ‘h to 2 inches (4-5 cm)
of space around each pan and between pans
and oven walls. There must be a minimum space
of 1 inch (2.5 cm).

Use only one cookie sheet in the oven at one
time.
Use the following as a guide to determine where
to place the pans.

foil for baking
Use aluminum foil to catch spillovers from pies or
casseroles.

Place the foil on the oven rack below the rack
with the food. Turn up foil edges and make
sure foil is about 1 inch (3 cm) larger all around
than the dish holding the food.

Do not cover the entire rack with aluminum foil.
it will reduce air circulation and cause poor
cooking resufts.

Do not line oven bottom or entire oven rack
with foil or other liners. Poor baking will result.

When you first plug in the oven, a time of day
and ‘PF will show in the temperature display.
H, after you set the clock (page 9), the display
again shows ‘PF, your electricity was off for a
while, Reset the clock.
When you are not using the oven, this is an
accurate clock,
When using the oven or Minute Timer, the
display will show the time, temperature settings
and what command pads have been pressed.
When showing the time of day, the display
will show hours and minutes.
When using the Minute Timer, the display will
show minutes and seconds in the following
sequence:
- For settings from 1-59 minutes, the display
will count down each second.
- For settings over 1 hour, the display will
count down each minute.
When using Cook Time and/or Stop Time,
the display will show hours and minutes.
Command
pads
The command pads tell the oven what to do and
in what order. A few examples:
-Clock/Set
tells the oven you are going to set
the clock
- Off/Csncd tells the oven to turn off.
Each command pad (except Off/Cancel and Start/
Enter) has its own indicator. The indicator comes
on when you touch the command pad.
Setting
the clock
1. Push the Clock/Set pad. The colon flashes
and TIME will light up in the display.
2. Use the Hour and Minute pads to set the time
of day. Push the ‘up’ (A) or ‘down” (r)
pad(s) until the correct time shows in the
display.
3. Push the Start/Enter
pad.
NOTE: lf you do not want the clock time displayed, push and hold the ClocWSet pad for 4
seconds. To display the clock time again, push
the ClocWSet pad once, then reset the clock time
if necessary.
Using
the electronic
Minute
The Minute Timer does not start or stop the oven.
It works like a kitchen timer. H can be set in hours
and minutes up to 11 hours, 59 minutes. The
Minute Timer will display minutes and seconds for
settings under one hour. You will hear four
1-second tones when the set time is up.
1. Push the Timer Set pad. TIMER will come on
and the display will show “0:OO” with the colon
flashing.
2. Use the Hour and Minute pads to set the
desired time. Push the Qp” (A) or “down” (V)
pad(s) until the correct time shows in the
display.

3. Push the Start/Enter pad. The Minute Timer
will begin counting down immediately after the
timer is started.
When time is up, “End” will show in the large
display and you will hear four 2-second tones.
You will also hear four 1-second tones every
minute until you push one of the two Timer
pads.
NOTE: To disable the reminder tones, push
and hold the Timer Set pad for 4 seconds.
To reactivate the tones, follow the same
procedure.

Timer:
Using
the Off/Cancel
The Off/Cancel pad will cancel any command pad
except for the ClocWSet and Timer Set pads.
When you push the Off/Cancel pad, the display
will show the time of day or, if Minute Timer is
also being used, the time remaining.
Audible
signals
Audible signals tell you if a function is entered
correctly or not. They also tell you when a cycle is
completed.
To shut off all signals except for the end-oftimer tone:
1. Press and hold the Stop Time pad for 4
seconds.
2. A short tone will sound to tell you the signals
have been changed.
Repeat the above steps to turn the signals
back on.

Push the Timer Cff pad. The time of day will
show in the display.

Baking/roasting
1. Position the rack(s).properfy before turning on
the oven. To change rack position, lift rack at
front and pull out. For further information, see
“Positioning racks and pans” on page 6.
2. Push the Bake pad. 350”” will light up in the
small display to show the preset temperature
and BAKE will light up.
3. To cook at a different temperature,
use the
Temp pad(s). Push A to raise the temperature
or V to lower the temperature in 5°F increments. Use these pads until the desired
temperature shows in the small display.
4. Push the Start/Enter pad. “Lo”“, HEAT and
BAKE light up in the display to show that the
oven is preheating. The temperature will
increase in 5” increments.
NOTE: The display will show “door” and a tone
will sound once a minute for 5 minutes if the
door is latched when you try to bake/roast.
You can change the temperature setting
any time after touching the Start/Enter pad by
pushing just the Temp pad(s).
5. When baking, preheat the oven. (Preheating
is not needed when roasting.) The oven is
preheated when you hear a one-second tone
and HEAT goes off.
6. Put food in the oven.
During baking/roasting, the elements will
turn on and off to keep the oven temperature
at the setting.
NOTE: The top element helps heat during
baking/roasting,
but does not turn red.
7. When baking/roasting
is done, push the Off/
Cancel pad. The time of day will show in the
display and all other displays will go off.

Adjusting
the oven
temperature
Oven temperature controls will gradually shift
after years of use. So, even though your new
oven is property adjusted to provtde accurate
temperatures, rt may cook faster or slower than
your old oven.
If, after usrng the oven for a period of time, you
are not satisfied with the temperature settings,
you can adjust them by following these steps:
1. Push and hold the Bake pad (for about 4
seconds) until the time display shows the current
temperature offset, for example “00” if you have
not previously adjusted the temperature.
2. To adjust the temperature, use the Temp
pad(s). Push A to raise the temperature or V
to lower the temperature in 5°F increments.
You can set the temperature change to as low
as -35°F or as high as +35”F. A minus (-) sign
will appear before the number when decreasing the temperature setting to show the oven
will be cooler by the displayed amount.

Broiling
NOTE: Preheating is not necessary when broiling.
1. Position the rack before turning the oven on.
See “Broiling rack position chart” on page 14.
2. Put the broiler pan and food on the rack.
3. Close the door to the Broil Stop position (open
about 4 inches [lo.2 cm]). The door will stay
open by itsetf.
4. Push the Broil pad. The small display will show
“500”” and BROIL will light up.
5. Push the Start/Enter pad. HEAT, BROIL and
“500”” show in the display.
NOTE: You can change the temperature setting
any time after pushing the Start/Enter pad by
pushing just the Temp pad(s).
6. When broiling is done, push the Off/Cancel
pad. The time of day will show in the display and
all other displays will go off.
To broil at a lower
temperature:

H food is cooking too fast, push the Broil pad
and push the V Terry pad until 325” shows in
the small display.
tf you want food to broil l lower from the star2
push the Broil pad and push the V Temp pad so
a temperature between 170°F and 325°F (77°C
and 163%) shows in the small display. These
temperature settings allow the broil heating
element to cycle and to slow cooking. The lower
the temperature, the slower the cooking. BROIL
and HEAT will light up in the display.
Fish and chicken are some foods that may cook
better if you use lower broiling temperatures.

tips
Use the broiler pan and grid for broiling. They
are designed to drain excess liquid and fat
away from the cooking surface to help prevent
spatter, smoke or fire.
. Refer to a broiling chart in a reliable cookbook
for correct broiling times.

After broiling, remove the broiler pan from
the oven when you remove the food. Drippings
will bake on the pan if you leave it in the
heated oven.

Energy
saving

Fire Hazard
Place meat the correct distance from the
element. Meat placed too close to the
element may spatter, smoke, burn or
catch fire during broiling.
To ensure adequate grease drainage, do
not use cookie sheets or similar pans for
broiling. Also, covering the broiler grid
with foil is not recommended. Poor
drainage of grease may result in fire. If foil
is used, cut slits in foil to line up with all
openings in broiler grid. Grease can then
drain away and cool in pan.

Although the energy used for cooking is usually a
very small percentage of the total energy used in
the home, cooking energy can be used efficiently.
Here are some tips to help you save energy
when using your cooking product.

Preheat only when recommended and for the
shortest time possible.
. “Oven peeking” may cause heat loss, longer
cooking times and unsatisfactory baking
results. Rely on your timer to keep track of the
cooking time.

Bake cakes, pies or cookies when oven is
warm. Best time is after a meal has been
cooked in it.
Plan your meals for the most efficient use of
the oven. When using the oven to cook one
food, try to cook the rest of the meal in it also.
Do not preheat when broiling, roasting or
cooking items such as casseroles.
Using
the electronic
MEALTIMER”
The electronic MEALTIMER.’ control will turn the
oven on and off at times you set ___even when
you are not around.
Delayed tlrne baking/roasting is ideal for foods
which do not require a preheated oven, such as
meats and casseroles. Do not use delayed time
cooking for cakes, cookies, etc. . . .

This section discusses two methods of starting
bakincjroasting now and stopping automaticaIry
later, and three methods of starting and stopping
baking/roasting automatically. Read this section
carefully to choose which method(s) is best for
you.
Before using the electronic MEALTIMER

time of day. (See ‘Setting the cloclc on page 9.)

2 o’clock. This provides a 2-hour cook time
(the difference between the time of day and the
stop time).
5. Push the Start/Enter pad. Yo”“, HEAT, TIMED
and BAKE will light up in the display to show
that the oven is heating,
NOTE: The display will show “door” and a tone
will sound once a minute for 5 minutes if the
door is latched when you try to bake/roast.

“down” (V) pad(s) until the correct time shows
in the display.
This example shows a desired baking/roasting
time of 30 minutes.
5. Push the Stop Time pad. The time of day with
the colon flashing will show in the display and
STOP TIME will light up.
6. Use the Hour and Minute pads to set the
desired stop time. Push the “up” (A) or
“down” (V) pad(s) until the correct time shows
in the display.
This example shows a desired stop time of
230. The oven will automatically start
cooking at 2:OO (the set stop time minus the
set cook time).
7. Push the Start/Enter pad. DELAY and BAKE
will light up in the display to show that the
oven is programmed to start at a later time.
NOTE: The display will show “door” and a tone
will sound once a minute for 5 minutes if the
door is latched when you try lo bake/roast.

The SelfCleaning cycle saves you from the toil and mess that often come with hand-cleaning the oven
interior. Like with the other functions of your oven, you operate the SeffUeaning
cycle with the easy-touse electronic control. Please review the instructions in this section to keep your oven spotless.
How the cycle
works
The SeWleaning
cycle uses very high heat to
bum away soil and grease. During the cycle, the
oven gets much hotter than it does for normal
baking or broiling. This high heat breaks up the
soil or grease and burns it away.
Your oven is preset for a 3hour Seff-Cleaning
cycle. However, you can adjust the cycle time to
the amount of soil in your oven. You can set the
cycle anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. (See
“Setting the controls” on page 26.)
The graph at the right is representative of a
normal, 3hour SelfGleaning cycle. Note that the
heating stops when the 3-hour se.tting is up, but it
takes longer for the oven to cool enough to
unlock
Before
you start
Before you start the Self-Cleaning
cycle, make
sure you:
l Hand-clean
the areas &own. They do not get
hot enough during the cleaning cycle for soil to
bum away. Use hot water and detergent or a
soapy steel-wool pad for cleaning.
NOTE: DC NOT clean, move or bend the seal.
Poor cleaning, baking and roasting may resuft.

Remove the broiler pan grid and any pots
and pans being stored in the oven.
NOTE: You can clean the broiler pan (without
grid) in the oven if you have first removed most
of the soil by handcleaning
or a dishwasher. If
most of the soil is not removed, too much
smoking will occur. The chrome broiler pan grid
will discolor if cleaned in the Se&Cleaning
cycle.
Wipe out any loose soil or grease. This will
help reduce smoke during the cleaning cycle.
Remove the oven recks from the oven if you
want them to remain shiny. You can clean the
oven racks in the Self-Cleaning cycle, but they
will become harder to slide. (See page 30.) If
you clean racks in the Setf-Cleaning cycle,
place them on the 2nd and 4th rack guides.
(Guides are counted from bottom to top.)
Heat and odors are normal during the SetfCleaning cycle. Keep the kitchen well ventilated
by opening a window or by turning on a vent
hood or other kitchen vent during the cycle.
Setting
the controls
1. Make sure the clock is set to Ihe correct time
of day. (See ‘Setting the clo# on page 9.)
2. Lift the panel between the oven door and the
upper microwave oven. Move the Lock Lever
all the way to the right-the Clean position.
3. Set cleaning
cycle.
To start cleaning immediately:
Push the Clean pad. A 3-hour Seii-Cleaning
cycle will be set automaticaliy. “300” with the
colon flashing will show in the large display
and “cln’ will show in the small display. TIME,
CLEAN (on right side) and CLEAN (on left
side) will light up.

Personal injury and
Product Damage Hazard
Do not touch the oven during the SeNCleaning cycle. tt could burn you.
Do not use commercial oven cleaners in
your oven. Cleaners may produce hazardous fumes or damage the porcelain finish.
Do not leave foil in the oven during the SeHCleaning cycle. Foil can burn or melt and
damage the oven surface.
NOTE: Do not force the Lock Lever. You could
bend or break it. The lever is designed to stay
locked until the oven is cool enough to safely
open. Wait until it moves freely.
Do not block the vent during the Setf-Cleaning
cycle. Air must move freely for best cleaning
results.
Do not leave plastic utensils near the vent.
They may melt.
If a cleaning cycle other than 3 hours is
desired, use the Hour and Minute pads
to set the desired cleaning time. Push the
“up” (A) or “down” (V) pad(s) until a time
between 2-4 hours shows in the display.
Use 2 hours for light soil.
Use 3-4 hours for moderate to heavy soil.
Push the Start/Enter pad. TIMED and HEAT
will light up in the display to show that the
oven is promgrammed for the Self-Cleaning

current time of day. DELAY and CLEAN WIII
stay on. When the start time is reached,
DELAY wi I go off, TIMED, CLEAN and
CLEAN TIME will ltght up and the oven will
start to clean.

the Self-Cleaning
cycle
is started,
LOCKED lights up in the display when the
oven temperature goes above normal baking!

Keep the kitchen well ventilated
during the SelfCleaning cycle to help get rid of heat, odors and
smoke.
After the oven is cool, wipe up any residue or
ash with a damp cloth or sponge. If any spots
remain, clean with a mild abrasive cleanser or
mildly abrasive pad.
Clean the oven before II gets heavily soiled.
Cleaning a very soiled oven takes longer and
resutts in mole smoke than usual.
If the SeH-Cleaning cycle does not get the oven
as clean as you expected, the cycle may not
have been set long enough or you may not
have prepared the oven properly. Set the SelfCleaning cycle longer the next time and handclean areas noted on page 25.
