USER INSTRUCTIONS

CONGRATULATIONS on your purchase of the CHAL-

LENGER PLUS remote vehicle alarm. You now own the most reliable security system available today, utilizing the latest state of the art technology. It is American made, designed and engineered by leading experts in the security industry.

The CHALLENGER PLUS comes with two 2-button code learning remote transmitters, flashing L.E.D., electronic sensor, and many additional features. It can be programmed as a manual or passive system. A number of these safety and convenience features can be programmed into your system either by the installing dealer, or in some cases yourself (explained below).

With minimum care and upkeep, this alarm will give you many years of service and protection. Read the following information

carefully. It will help you get the best from your system.

A) MANUAL OPERATION

1) TO ARM – Press the left button. You will hear 1 chirp, parking lights will flash 1 time, and the L.E.D. will flash slow ly after button is pressed. This indicates your system is armed.

2) TO DISARM – Press the left button. You will hear 2 chirps, parking lights will flash 2 times and the L.E.D. will no longer flash indicating the system is disarmed. If doors are not open before 30 seconds, alarm will re-arm itself.

B) PASSIVE OPERATION

1) TO ARM – If your installing dealer has installed the

CHALLENGER PLUS as a passive system, the alarm will arm automatically approximately 30 seconds after the last door is closed. (Note: you can also arm immediately by pressing the left button as in #1 above).

2) TO DISARM – Disarm system same as in #2 above.

3) VALET – Your dealer installed a valet (push button) switch in a convenient location in the dashboard area.To activate the valet, push for 5 seconds prior to turning off the engine. The L.E.D. will stay on (non-flashing) while the vehicle is in Valet. You can now leave the vehicle without arming the system. While in valet, with the alarm inactive, you can still lock/unlock your doors with the remote transmitters. See section C.To deactivate from the valet mode, turn on the ignition and press the valet switch for 5 seconds.

C) DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK

1) If your vehicle has electronic (automatic) door locks, and your dealer connected them to the alarm, the

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM

CHALLENGER PLUS will also lock when arming and unlock when the system is disarmed in either manual or passive operation.

2) Your system can be programmed by the dealer not to

lock in the passive mode. In this case your system will arm passively, but you must press the left button to lock the vehicle.

3) Your door locks can also be programmed by your dealer to lock when the ignition is turned on and to unlock when the ignition is turned off.

If you have questions, ask your dealer to explain these very convenient features to you.

D) AUDIO-VISUAL WARNING INDICATORS

When disarming, if you hear 3 chirps (instead of the normal

2) and the L.E.D. is flashing rapidly, it means either an entry violation was attempted or your vehicle was bumped hard enough to cause the alarm to trigger (check your vehicle to make sure everything is working and there is no damage).

E) REMOTE PANIC – An important safety feature on your

CHALLENGER PLUS system is a remote panic which will trigger your alarm a substantial distance away. Press left button for 3 seconds until siren sounds. To stop the siren, press the left button.

F) STARTER INTERRUPT – As added protection, the

CHALLENGER PLUS has a built-in starter interrupt. When the system is armed, the vehicle cannot be jump started, hot wired, or started with a key. This makes it extremely tough on any theft attempt. When you use your transmitter to disarm the system, the vehicle can then be started normally.

(Continued on Reverse Side)

Please Keep For Future Reference

TO USE THE CODE LEARNING

SEQUENCE FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:

1. Turn the ignition switch ON/OFF 3 times, leave ignition ON the 3rd time. The SIREN will chirp once and the Door Locks (if connected) will

LOCK.

2. Within 5 SECONDS, press and HOLD the Valet

Switch for 5 seconds, the SIREN will Chirp 3

Times and the L.E.D. will turn SOLID.The System is now in Code Learning Mode.

(Continued on Reverse Side)

Note: The valet switch is also an emergency override switch. If you lose or damage your remote transmitter, or if there is a malfunction in the system, you can still use your vehicle even if armed, utilizing the following procedure. Open the door (the siren will sound and the starter interrupt will be in effect), turn ignition switch to “on”position, and press the push button switch to “on” as well (your dealer will show you where the switch is on or near the dash).

The siren will stop and the starter interrupt mode overridden, allowing you to start the vehicle. See your dealer as soon as possible to replace transmitter or correct any malfunction.

G) AUTOMATIC RESET – If your alarm is set-off, it will automatically rearm itself after the cycle is completed.

H) TEMPORARY CHIRP DELETE – The CHALLENGER

PLUS alarm system is designed to chirp when the alarm is armed or disarmed. There may be times when the chirp sound is inconvenient (late at night for example). You can

temporarily stop the chirp by pressing the right button

immediately preceding the press on the left button when arming or disarming. This eliminates the chirp that time only. Each time you wish the chirp eliminated, the above procedure must be used.

I) FAULTY SENSOR BY PASS – If a sensor malfunctions, it will be bypassed automatically, and not stop the use of the alarm. Therefore your vehicle is still protected.

However, bring your vehicle into your dealer as soon as possible to fix the problem.

J) AUXILIARY FEATURES

1) MULTI-CAR USE – The CHALLENGER remote transmitters can be programmed to work with control modules of other CHALLENGER alarms. For example, you can use the left button to send appropriate signals to your car, and the right button to use for the CHALLENGER alarm in a second car.

Ask your dealer about this feature.

2) AUTOMATIC TRUNK OPENER

The 2nd channel (right button) can be programmed to open the trunk (if the vehicle has automatic trunk release), activate a remote vehicle starter, window roll-up module, and other quick release accessories.

3. Press Button #1 of either transmitter for Car #1 operation, the system will respond with either 1 or 2 Siren Chirps. The system has now learned the transmitters code. For a two car operation, follow the steps 1 and 2 for second vehicle using button #2 of transmitter.

Turn OFF the ignition switch.

The system is now ready to be tested.
