FOR UNDERFLOOR HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS
REHAU continually invests in innovative solutions for the building
industry, including renewable energy products, underfloor heating
systems, pipes and plumbing, windows, doors and a full range
of cable management products.
One of REHAU’s latest developments is the enhanced REHAU
Intelligent Control System for underfloor heating and cooling.
Having already been successful in the market, REHAU has taken
it a step further and improved its sophisticated control system
by offering a wireless option, radiator and domestic hot water
control and a cooling function to optimise individual comfort.
The REHAU Intelligent Control System is ideally suited to underfloor
heating and cooling in residential and light commercial applications
such as self-build houses, schools, nurseries, care homes, hospitals
and hotels.

Self-Learning Capabilities
Using the CT2 Programmable Room Sensors, the
Intelligent Controllers are able to learn the heating
characteristics of the room or an area to achieve
the set temperature more efficiently than a standard
thermostat. The advantages of this form of control
are that after a short learning period, the controls
determine the optimum time to open the actuators,
allowing the room to reach the set temperature
whilst minimising the temperature overshoot. This
gives high comfort levels while ensuring minimum
wasted energy.
Automated Initial Heat up Function
The FS and FC Master Controllers of the REHAU
Intelligent Control System have been specifically
designed to heat up the floor automatically when
initially installed and set up by the installers. This
automated sequence carries out the heat up
procedure as required by BS EN 1264. Thereby,
installers can avoid additional costly site visits
by completing the setup of the system during the
initial installation.

Automated Switchover Between Heating
and Cooling
The automated switchover between heating and
cooling is initiated by the FC Master Controllers
capability to constantly measure the outside and
internal temperature. This feature allows for a timely
activation of cooling, which is a result of REHAU’s
innovative development and expertise in the heating
and cooling market.

Dew Point Control
Condensation is one of the major concerns for
designers and installers in the cooling situation
which could result in slippery surfaces and mould
formation. The REHAU Intelligent Control System is
capable of controlling the dew point by constantly
measuring the room temperature and the humidity
in the air. Thus, the occurrence of condensation
is greatly reduced giving occupants greater peace
of mind, a more comfortable environment and
avoids high replacement and repair costs of the
building fabric.

The REHAU Intelligent Control system is designed
to be versatile, to suit the evolving needs of the
system designers in today’s construction industry.
Hence should retrofits, extensions or refurbishments
be required at a later date, the REHAU Intelligent
Control System keeps additional control costs to
a minimum. The system is capable of controlling
more than 1,890 zones.

Fault Diagnosis
The FS and FC Master Controllers both have a
graphic display that are backlit which makes for
simpler operation. Parameters and user settings
can be easily changed using the navigation buttons.
The master also contains a full information menu
that is simple to follow and can be used when
servicing the heating installation.

In addition to a comprehensive trouble shooting guide,
detailed in the manual, there is also a comprehensive
fault diagnosis sequence utilising red and green LEDs
on the main controllers. This enables installers/end
users to quickly identify and resolve problems with
their underfloor heating/cooling control system.

Easy to Use and Install
The CT2 Programmable Room Sensors require no
special tools for installation and a standard 2-core
cable can be used. As the voltage is less than 5V
on the Bus, the safety for the installers and the end
users alike is increased.

ALL IN ONE
Whether you choose underfloor heating/cooling, domestic hot
water or radiators to provide the heat/cool requirement, the REHAU
Intelligent Control System is capable of managing them all. Hence,
a further reduction in cost over traditional control systems can be
easily achieved.
Weather Compensation
The supply water temperature to the system can
be automatically varied in relation to outdoor
temperature using the inbuilt outside compensation
module. In turn, the Master Controller will position
a three or four port valve to maintain the correct
flow temperature. Therefore, boilers are run in
the most economical way by minimising the gap
between actual and required heat demand. Wear
and tear is reduced and the product life cycle for
system components is extended, whilst comfortable
room conditions are maintained. Hence increased
energy savings over traditional systems can be
achieved thereby totally complying to all local and
national building regulations.

Hard - Wired and Wireless Control
To complement the REHAU Intelligent Control
Range, customers are given the option to choose
between a wired and/or wireless control system.
The control system for underfloor heating and
cooling can easily be adapted with wireless set
point adjusters simply by adding a wireless receiver.
Complex installation costs, due to extensions or
repair, are thus reduced or even avoided by making
the REHAU Intelligent Control System the preferred
option for developers.
