D

ESCRIPTION

The MCS-D 200 control unit can operate a digital conference and interpretation system with a maximum of 1,400 delegate and interpreter stations. The NetRateBus provides 54 multifunctional audio channels which can be allocated to different meetings.

These audio channels allow a lot of applications such as discussing, interpreting, phoning from one microphone station to the other and linking external participants to a meeting via phone conferencing.

The control unit features an integrated power supply for a maximum of 15 microphone stations. Optionally the control unit is available with two power supplies to supply a maximum of 30 microphone stations. When there are more than 30 microphone stations to be supplied, additional power supply units are required.

The system is configured by using the integrated display and multifunctional buttons or the iCNS operating and configuration software. The configuration includes selecting various operating and voting modes. By using the iCNS software you can select settings such as voting modes, graphical control, data band and video camera control in addition to operating modes and configuration of microphone stations as chairman stations. Via the control unit you can configure microphone station IDs, chairman stations, interpreting channels, audio interfaces and operating modes.

The following operating modes can be selected:

• Free

Each participant can turn on his/her microphone. If the selected number of open microphones is exceeded, the microphone can be turned on as soon as another participant has turned off his /her microphone.

• Request

By pressing the microphone button, the participant signals a request-to-speak. The microphone is released by the chairman.

• Automatic

this mode combines the “free” and “request” modes. If the number of open microphones is exceeded, all participants pressing the microphone button are listed in a request-to-speak list. As soon as a microphone is turned off, the microphone of the first participant in the request-to-speak list is released automatically.

• FiFo / First in, First out

Each participant can turn on his/her microphone. If the selected number of open microphones is exceeded, the microphone of the participant who turned on his/her microphone first is furned off when another participant turns his/her microphone on.

The MCS-D 200 also features a multisession function which allows several meetings to be controlled simultaneously when using the iCNS software. The number of meeting is only limited by the total number of available channels, i.e. in the extreme case there are 54 meetings each with one language or one meeting with 54 languages possible.

By connecting two MCS-D 200 control units to the digital CA 4210 monitor switch a breakdown of the system can be avoided. One control unit acts as “master” unit, the second as “mirror” unit. The “mirror” unit has the same data as the “master” unit at any time. If the “master” unit fails to work, the digital CA 4210 monitor switch changes over the whole system to the “mirror” unit immediately. The current meeting is not interrupted, i.e. the participants will not be affected by the failure of the “master” unit.

The NetRateBus allows hot plugging, i.e. devices can be removed, added or changed when the system is running without any problems.

The MCS-D 200 control unit provides a 19" housing and push-pull connections for the bus network. The bus network allows routing power, audio and control signals via the same cable.

The control unit features two RS 232 interfaces to connect to a PC or media control system.
