All-Round Brilliance Plus Network Capability to Unify Your Audio Life
The TX-NR807 brings together the very latest mid-range home-theater functionality and adds one major upgrade: networking capability.
An Ethernet port on the TX-NR807 allows it to receive and output audio files playing in real-time on your PC. Alternatively, you can
bypass your PC and enjoy a direct connection to streaming internet radio stations through the vTuner. Naturally, the TX-NR807 also
handles all of your high-definition audio and video sources—courtesy of six HDMI™ 1.3a inputs—and upscales any video input to 1080p
via Faroudja DCDi Cinema™. This powerful THX® Select2 Plus™ Certified receiver also comes with Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro
Logic® IIz, two new surround-sound formats that expand the spatial dimensionality of games and movies. Meanwhile, Audyssey roomcorrection and equalization technologies help ensure a convincing and detailed audio performance, regardless of the volume level or the
shape of your room. An intelligent customizable remote controller puts the finishing touch to what is another benchmark-setting allround performer from Onkyo.
Processing 1080p Video and High-Def Surround Sound via
HDMI 1.3a*
Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz Add New
Dimensions to Surround Sound
Incorporating HDMI version 1.3a, along with advanced processing
capabilities, the TX-NR807 makes for a powerful A/V control center. Up
to six components can be connected via HDMI, including Blu-ray Disc
players, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes. The system can then
receive and switch high-definition video and output a pristine digital
signal to your compatible HDTV. On the audio front, lossless Dolby®
TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ provide a bit-for-bit multichannel
soundtrack identical to the studio master track.
The TX-NR807 handles two new surround-sound technologies from
Audyssey and Dolby that offer exciting new ways to set up the
speakers in your home theater system. Audyssey DSX lets you
incorporate “front wide” speakers, in place of the usual surround back
speakers, to expand the width of the soundstage. Set up at a
recommended 60° off center, these channels help to produce a more
realistic soundstage and a more immersive listening experience.
Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can reconfigure the TX-NR807’s surround
back channels to deliver “front height” channels. These channels carry
ambient, non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to
your movies and games. Dolby Pro Logic IIz provides a similar frontheight speaker option that likewise works to create a more enveloping
home theater experience.
*HDMI version 1.3a supports Deep Color™, x.v.Color™, LipSync, Dolby TrueHD,
DTS-HD Master Audio, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, Multichannel PCM, and CEC.
PC Audio and Internet Radio via Network Function with
DLNA 1.5 Compatibility
As the first model in Onkyo’s 2009 range that can connect directly to
the internet or to your home PC via a local network, the TX-NR807
brings PC audio and streaming internet radio into your home
entertainment set-up. Now you’re just one click away from high-quality,
customizable music programming. MP3, FLAC, WMA Lossless, Ogg
Vorbis, and AAC audio files—whether on your PC or from the
internet—can now be played back through your main system with
unprecedented power and fidelity. The TX-NR807 brings to life a wide
array of internet radio sources through the vTuner application. Being
one of Onkyo’s new generation of network-capable receivers, the TXNR807 is fully compatible with the new DLNA 1.5 specification. A
further benefit of having the receiver connected to the internet is that
you can then easily update its firmware.
THX® Select2 Plus™ Certified with THX Loudness
Plus™ Technology
THX Select2 Plus certification is specified for rooms where the screento-seat viewing distance is 3 to 4 meters and the room volume is
around 56 cubic meters. To achieve THX Select2 Plus certification, the
TX-NR807 must meet the world’s most demanding standards for
home theater audio quality and performance, and must play at
reference volume levels with minimal distortion. THX Loudness Plus is a
volume control technology included in THX Select2 Plus that
compensates for the tonal and spatial shifts that occur when the
volume level is lowered. It automatically adjusts the levels of ambient
sound and bass frequencies, so you can enjoy the true impact of
movies, music, and games no matter what volume setting you use.

HDMI Video Upscaling to 1080p with
Faroudja DCDi Cinema™
When it comes to video processing, the Faroudja
DCDi Cinema (Directional Correlational
Deinterlacing) video processor offers several
advantages. This processor can accept any video
signal, regardless of the source resolution, and
upscale it to 1080p to match the native resolution
of your high-definition display. What’s more, DCDi
Cinema effectively removes video artifacts such as
jagged edges during the video signal deinterlacing
process. You get to enjoy smooth progressive scan
video images, even for fast-moving sports and
action scenes.
A Suite of Audyssey Technologies for the
Ideal Listening Environment
The TX-NR807 incorporates three Audyssey
technologies to help create the most suitable
listening environment for your home.
(1) Audyssey MultEQ™
Measures and removes distortion caused by room
acoustics and calibrates speakers for optimal
listening throughout the room.
(2) Audyssey Dynamic Volume™
Lets you enjoy a consistent volume level for all
content, while optimizing the dynamic range.
(3) Audyssey Dynamic EQ™
Maintains a consistent bass response, tonal balance,
and surround-sound effect at different
volume levels.
Universal Port for Single-Cable
Connection of Optional Onkyo Dock
for the iPod
A proprietary Universal Port located on the rear
side of the TX-NR807 lets you connect an optional
UP-A1 Dock for the iPod. A key advantage of the
Universal Port is that it accepts video and audio
signals through the same cable that sends a power
supply from the receiver to the devices.
Two High-Quality Texas Instruments DSP
(Digital Signal Processing) Chips
The TX-NR807 employs two Texas Instruments
DSP chips (the DA830 and DA788) to handle the
advanced processing needs of Dolby® TrueHD, DTSHD Master Audio™, Audyssey MultEQ, and postprocessing. The DA830 is also specially designed to
cope with the heavy demands of processing a
network connection.
Bi-Directional Preprogrammed RI
Remote Control with Onscreen Setup
and Macro Presets for Four Activities
The TX-NR807’s remote controller offers the
convenience of controlling a wide range of other
devices connected to the receiver. You can select
your connected devices from an on-screen list and
pre-program your desired settings for each device;
the receiver itself can then send these settings
automatically to the remote controller. Furthermore,
the TX-NR807 lets you set up macro presets for up
to four activity modes, which you can control via
mode-key LEDs on the remote controller. A single
button-press of “My Movie”, for example, can
simultaneously turn on the receiver, display, and
DVD player to your pre-programmed settings and
start playing a disc automatically.
