Important Notice
All companies make changes and improvements in their products on a regular basis. Because this product
is interfacing with equipment not manufactured by Pelco, the possibility exists that the interface protocols
have changed or are in a different configuration from earlier tested units; therefore, an incompatibility may
occur. The existence of prior successful installations indicates our intent to provide equipment compatible
with other manufacturers, but does not guarantee successful results without on-site integration testing.
Pelco recommends purchasing a single unit for bench testing before the purchase and installation of this product in quantity. Should any problems occur, Pelco will provide on-site technical support
(North American installations only) to analyze the interface protocols of your system. We will typically
schedule this visit within one week of when the problem is reported to Pelco Technical Support. Pelco will
endeavor, at its expense, to correct the interface incompatibility within two weeks on a high priority basis.
During these visits, the end user must agree to give Pelco reasonable access to the system in order to
study and correct the protocol incompatibility.
In the unlikely event that Pelco is unable to make the translator work in the system, Pelco will accept the
return of any Pelco products associated with the translator and refund the amounts paid for these products
plus freight expenses. Because Pelco recommends a bench test prior to installation, Pelco will not be
liable for any installation costs or lost revenues in the event it cannot solve the compatibility problem.

Description
The TXB-B translator board allows Bosch (Philips, Burle) controllers to communicate with Pelco’s Esprit®,
ExSite™, and Spectra® systems. Once installed the Spectra dome, Spectra Mini dome, ExSite, or Esprit
system receives Manchester code commands from the Bosch (Philips, Burle) controller and converts the
commands into Pelco’s D protocol.
The TXB-B has been tested and shown to work with the following Bosch (Philips, Burle) systems:
•
LTC 5136 AutoDome® Controller
•
LTC 5138 Virtual Keyboard, Rev 1.01 (Allegiant® and AutoDome Systems)
•
LTC 8300 Series (Allegiant System)
•
LTC 8500 Fixed Speed Series (Allegiant System)
•
LTC 8800 Variable Speed Series (Allegiant System)
•
LTC 8850 Graphical User Interface (Allegiant System)
Based on the information published by Bosch (Philips, Burle), Pelco has reason to believe the TXB-B will
also work with the following models:
•
LTC 8600 Series (Allegiant System)
•
LTC 8900 Series (Allegiant System)

TXB-B ZONE PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
A zone is a pan area, defined by a left and right limit, on the 360-degree pan plane. To program a zone with
a Bosch (Philips, Burle) controller, refer to the manual supplied with the controller and perform the
following:
Step
Procedure
1. Enter zone programming.
Issue the enable zone scan command (ON 60 Enter) to
display the zone labels.
2. Set left zone limit.
Position the Pelco unit at the left limit of the zone. Issue the
zone start command (ON 2# Enter) for the zone being
programmed; # is a number between 1 and 8 that represents
zones 1 through 8.
3. Set right zone limit.
Position the Pelco unit at the right limit of the zone. Issue the
zone end command (OFF 2# Enter) for the zone being
programmed; # is a number between 1 and 8 that represents
zones 1 through 8.
4. Enable the zone label display.
Issue the enable zone scan command (ON 60 Enter) to
display the zone labels.
IMPORTANT (Spectra and ExSite systems only): After programming a zone, always enable the zone
through the Pelco unit programming menu. Refer to the operation/programming manual supplied with the
Pelco system.

Troubleshooting
Symptom
Possible Cause
Suggested Remedy
Video does not appear on
screen.
Power is not connected to the
Pelco unit.
Check the power connector.
Video cable is not connected to
the Pelco unit.
Check the video connector.
Translator board is not inserted
properly.
Reinstall the translator board.
Make sure the pins on the
board are inserted correctly.
Pelco unit information (model,
firmware, Pelco P and D
addresses, and communication
settings) does not appear after
the configuration cycle.
The Pelco unit cannot complete
its configuration cycle.
Refer to the troubleshooting
section of the product manual
for the Pelco unit.
The message “TXB-B
REV x.xx yy” does not appear.
The baud rate setting on the
Pelco unit is not correct. The
setting appears on power-up.
Make sure the baud rate setting
on the Pelco unit is 2400. Then
cycle device power.
The Pelco unit does not respond
to commands.
The unit address is not correct.
Make sure the Pelco unit
(receiver) address is correct.
This address can range from 1
to 255.
Make sure the controller is
addressing the correct Pelco
unit.
24
The receiving and transmitting
lines are not connected
properly.
Make sure the TX+, TX-, RX+,
and RX- lines are properly
connected. (Refer to the wiring
tables in this manual as well as
the troubleshooting section of
the product manual for the
controller.)
The command was lost
between the controller and the
Pelco unit.
Retry the command.

Appendix
Perform the following steps to find and set the addresses for the TXB-B board and the Pelco unit.
1. Refer to Table C on page 26 to find the TXB-B address (block number). Select the block range that
contains the receiver address. The block number for the block range is the address for the TXB-B
translator board.
Example: To find the TXB-B address when the receiver address is 131:
a.
Find the block range for 131 in Table C. This value is between 129 (low) and 255 (high).
b.
The block number for the 129 to 255 range is 1. Therefore, the address for the TXB-B
translator board is 1.
2. Refer to Table D on page 27 to find the Pelco unit address. Select the column that corresponds to
the TXB-B address. Locate the row in the column that contains the receiver address. The row
number is the unit address.
Example: To find the Pelco unit address when the receiver address is 131:
a.
Use step 1 to determine the TXB-B address. In this case, the address is 1.
b.
Search for the receiver address in the column under 1 in Table D, in this case 131.
c.
The 131 address appears in row 3. Therefore, the Pelco unit address is 3.
3. Refer to Table E on page 43 to set the DIP switches for the TXB-B address and the Pelco unit
address.
Example: To find the address settings when the receiver address is 131:
a.
Use step 1 to determine the TXB-B address. In this case, the address is 1.
b.
Use step 2 to determine the Pelco unit address. In this case, the unit address is 3.
c.
Locate the row in Table E that corresponds to the Pelco unit address. In this case, row 4
corresponds to unit address 3.
d.
Identify the switch settings for the unit address. The switch settings for address 3 are: ON,
ON, OFF, OFF, OFF, OFF, OFF, OFF.
e.
Set these switches on the Pelco unit.
NOTES:
•
The TXB-B translator board uses the same address switch position settings as the Pelco unit.
•
Receiver addresses that are divisible by 128 (such as 0, 128, 256, 384) are reserved and may not be
used.
