Welcome to Miele
4
When the Miele company was first started back in 1899, the founders, believing that success was only achievable in the long term by being totally convinced of the quality of one‘s product, elected to produce machines that were both durable and long lasting.
Their motto “Immer besser”, which trans lates as “Forever better”, represents this philosophy. It remains our company motto to this day and permeates through every aspect of our business, from the drawing board down to the very last nut and bolt in a machine. And it is thanks to this philosophy that the Miele brand is now identified with unsurpassed product quality, worldwide.
Our quality tests far exceed industry standards, and all of our products are tested before they leave the factory.
To help meet demand there are subsidiaries in more than 30 countries, making Miele the largest privately held appliance manufacturer in the world.
Miele came to Australia in 1980. Since then, the company has grown rapidly and today operates branch offices in
Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide,
Perth and New Zealand.
The price of a Miele does not just cover the product, it also buys you an excellent service. You can expect expert product advice from our team of consultants in our
Sales and Customer service departments, who will be pleased to offer advice to establish which is the best model to suit your needs. Miele also has a wide network of qualified service engineers and carefully selected service agents who are equipped with the skills and knowledge for rapid diagnosis of possible faults.
As our policy is one of continuous improve ment, new models, features and colors may be introduced during the lifetime of this brochure. Your nearest
Miele Chartered Agent will be glad to advise on any later developments.
Miele and the environment
Miele appliances have longer lives.
Our philosophy is to make appliances that will last way into the future, so we have a vested interest in ensuring that there is a future for them to be around in. The longevity of Miele appliances in itself is a major contribution to the idea of conserving resources and economising on raw materials. The equation is a simple one: the longer the operating life of a product, the less likely the need for new materials and the energy required in producing a replacement.
A commitment to our future.
The long life of Miele appliances is legendary and so too is our commitment to making sure that we take care of our environment.
Our Research and Development teams are continually striving to improve the performance of our appliances at the same time as conserving resources and economising on the raw materials used.
Reducing packaging.
When it comes to packaging, our motto is “as much as necessary, but as little as possible”. Naturally we make it as environmentally friendly as we can, and all our packaging is designed to be recyclable.
Committed to the environment.
Miele were the first appliance manufacturer worldwide to receive the Environment
Standard DIN EN ISO 14001 certification for all its factories.
Energy labelling.
In many homes, refrigerators and freezers tend to account for a fifth of our household energy consumption. When purchasing a new appliance, it is always a good idea to look for the most energy-efficient model that suits your needs.
Thanks to the energy label, you can easily judge how energy efficient each model is. All manufacturers must label their appliances in this way, so you can make an informed decision with economy in mind.
CFC and HFC free.
The insulation material and coolants used in Miele’s refrigeration products were converted to CFC-free and HFC-free materials long before European guidelines on banning CFCs and HFCs came into force.
In Miele‘s refrigeration products, the harmful substances previously used in the insulation material have been replaced with pentane, and the coolant used now is isobutene R600a. This is an environmentally friendly, natural gas which does not damage the ozone layer or increase the greenhouse effect.
Disposing of old appliances.
Taking care not to damage the appliance housing or the pipework at the back when removing an old refrigerator or freezer will ensure that ozone depleting substances can be safely extracted by a suitably qualified refrigeration mechanic before the appliance is disposed of.

Design and innovation
Whether it‘s design or functionality that you are looking for, the latest Miele refrigeration range developed for the
Australian market offers a choice of products to suit a multitude of lifestyle needs.
The attention to detail is exemplified by our desire to provide appliances of the highest quality, within which lie a host of features that create the perfect cool environment for your food and drinks.
Design, convenience and functionality are the cornerstones of our philosophy, the
essence of which is reflected throughout our latest range.
Miele refrigeration: full of fresh thinking.
The elegance of steel.*
Stainless steel has long been the material of choice for professional kitchens and is now very much a popular option for the domestic environment. It creates a professional look and co-ordinates well with other appliances in the home.
Miele stainless steel refrigeration appliances are the ultimate in style and sophistication with only premium grade steel used for the doors and sides of the appliance.
A diverse range of freestanding products are available, which include many of our high-end features such as PerfectFresh zones, ice-makers, fully electronic controls and frost-free freezer systems.
Stainless steel from Miele: unparalleled elegance.
Sophisticated lines.*
Simplicity of design creates an ageless classic. Clean, uninterrupted lines play an important part in creating the overall design of the appliance. Full height side panelling and doors provide a sleek finish.
Controls are neatly hidden behind the doors to further enhance the overall look.
Classic understatement is provided by the subtly embossed Miele logo on the elegantly curved soft-line doors, together creating a stylish impression.
The look is further enhanced by the classic lever handle, which has been designed to provide excellent opening properties and complement the overall appearance of the appliance*.
* Features will vary from model to model.
Please consult individual product descriptions.
7
Cool environment
Creating the perfect environment for the storage of food is the main purpose of any refrigerator or freezer. Miele refrigeration utilises the latest technologies to ensure that not only is the internal environment created as efficiently as possible, but that it is also maintained, thus ensuring food is stored in the best possible conditions.
Sophisticated electronics ensure that the optimum performance is achieved and the temperature of the appliance is maintained to the exact degree. For an even higher level of performance, particularly for chilling food and controlling humidity, Miele offers models with DynamicCooling and
PerfectFresh, which provide significant additional benefits.
8
Cool controls.
A variety of control functions are available depending on the model selected. For full details please refer to the individual specifications.
Many of the models in the range feature fully electronic controls that provide highly accurate temperature monitoring and alarm functions. LED indicators or temperature displays ensure temperature selection is precise and the system ensures the desired temperature is quickly reached.
The SuperCool and SuperFreeze functions will, at the touch of a button, automatically reduce the interior temperature of the refrigerator or freezer to ensure that the temperature of fresh produce is reduced as quickly as possible, retaining the consistency and texture of the food.
Acoustic and visual alarms are incorporated within the electronics to inform the user should the internal temperature rise above the desired level. For added peace of mind a warning tone also sounds if the door is left open for longer than 60 seconds.
Electronic controls combine accuracy,
efficiency, ease of use and peace of mind.
Consistent temperature control.
Due to the natural circulation of air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance and warmer air will rise nearer to the top. This has a bearing on where to place food to obtain the optimum results.
The Miele DynamicCooling system, which features on a number of appliances, overcomes natural temperature imbalances by circulating cold air around the appliance.
This constant flow of air enables the temperature inside the appliance to be maintained at the same level throughout. This provides the benefit of allowing you to choose where to store your food.
With DynamicCooling the temperature is set in the normal way with the temperature control and the electronics ensure that the desired temperature is reached and maintained.
An additional benefit of DynamicCooling is that food and drinks will be chilled up to 50% more quickly than in a conventional refrigerator without this feature.
9
Cool environment
PerfectFresh.
The PerfectFresh zone has a dry and a humidity controlled compartment and is particularly suitable for long term storage of fresh food. Because the temperature is electronically maintained at just above freezing point, fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and poultry can be stored for up to two to three times longer* than in a normal refrigerator and still maintain their freshness. Tests have shown that vitamin
C levels in food stored in the PerfectFresh zone hardly change over a period of time, so its health benefits are great too.
The dry compartment is excellent for storing meat, fish, poultry and dairy products.
The humidity controlled compartment has adjustable relative humidity levels between
45% and 90% inside the compartment to suit the type of food you are storing. It is particularly suitable for storing fruit and vegetables as well as salad items which have a high water content and need to be kept moist.

* Storage times are guidelines only and depend on the quality and freshness of the food.
N.B. Some fruit and vegetables give off gases which cause them to deteriorate rapidly. These include bananas, avocado, pears, pineapple, mangos, olives, papaya, passionfruit and citrus fruit as well as aubergines, cucumbers, green beans, potatoes, melons, peppers, tomatoes and courgettes.
11
User convenience
12
Stunning exterior design is complemented by a desire to create a user-friendly product.
Whether this is through the practicality of an adjustable, clearly visible interior, a frost-free system, the luxury of an ice maker or large capacity food centre,
Miele strives to create an appliance that provides maximum user convenience.
No more defrosting!*
An increasing number of Miele refrigeration appliances have this important feature.
Frost-free is a perfect system for optimum convenience and removes the tedious task of emptying and repacking the freezer. It results in zero build-up of frost on both the food and the evaporator, saving time and electricity.
How it works…
In appliances which feature the frostfree system, cool air is circulated by a fan, enabling the food to freeze more quickly and thoroughly. Moisture in the air condenses and freezes on the evaporator, where it melts automatically and drains through a channel into a condensate tray. The heat from the compressor then causes the water to evaporate.
Enclosed evaporator
Select frost-free models will now also feature a new enclosed evaporator. The evaporator, instead of being located at the back of the appliance, will now fit into the front casing. The cabinet interior is surrounded on all sides by concealed aluminium evaporator tubing, which leaves the surface smooth on all sides and exceptionally easy to clean. The new positioning of the evaporator offers more flexible storage options, as the glass shelves can be removed easily, allowing the drawers to accommodate much larger items.
* Features will vary from model to model. Please consult individual product descriptions.
13
User convenience
Interior design.
Easy cleaning and adjustability are just two of the factors to be considered when purchasing a new refrigeration appliance.
All Miele appliances feature shelves manufactured from safety glass. The shelves can hold up to 25 kg and are trimmed in white or chrome edging, depending on the model. All are easily removed for cleaning purposes.
Glass shelving provides spill protection and has the additional benefit of helping maintain the interior temperature.
A selected number of shelves in all Miele appliances are adjustable, enabling you to make best use of the space available.
Some models also feature split shelves for added convenience.
Freezer drawers.
Transparent freezer drawer fronts feature in all Miele freezers. These allow a visual inspection of the contents without the need to pull out the drawer.
A frozen food marker system enables a further indication of the drawer contents.
Miele drawers are enclosed on all sides, which helps to maintain the drawer temperature when it is opened, and contain any accidental spillages. They are easily removed for cleaning and are designed not to tip.
14
* Features will vary from model to model.
Please consult individual product descriptions.
Interior doors.
The Miele interior door shelving is made from high quality plastic with chrome framing. All are height-adjustable and are easily removed for cleaning. A covered dairy compartment with lift-up lid protects the contents from transfer of odours.
SoftClose doors.
The SoftClose system closes fridge and freezer doors gently and gradually, even when slammed shut.
This gentle closure ensures items in the door, such as bottles, are offered greater protection when the door is closed*.
Ice in an instant.
For cool drinks at parties and on long, hot summer days, ice is a must. However, in conventional fridge-freezers, it is not always instantly available. Miele’s ice cube makers offer this convenience in a number of models.
Between 100 and 120 perfectly formed ice cubes can be made in 24 hours
(approximately 1.1 kg). When ready, ice is dispensed automatically into one half-sized freezer drawer where it can be stored until needed.
If ice is not required, the ice maker can simply be switched off and the storage container can then be used as a conventional freezer drawer.
N.B. These appliances require plumbing to a fresh water supply.
All Miele refrigerators featuring an automatic ice maker have been tested and approved according to the AS 5200 & AS 4020 Australian Standards, covering testing of products that come in to contact with drinking water, offering Miele consumers added peace of mind.
15
16
User convenience
Miele food centres.
Miele offers a selection of side-by-side combination appliances to cater for all your storage needs. By providing choice and flexibility you can be certain the needs and requirements of the whole household will be met. And, thanks to a number of innovative features, it couldn’t be easier to find the ideal combination of your choice.
With side-by-side appliances in stainless steel, you can create a truly professional look and co-ordinate with other appliances in the home. They are modern and elegant, yet timeless and versatile, making them a talking point in any kitchen.
By giving you the flexibility to mix and match the features of your choice, you can choose whether to have a large capacity refrigerator and combine it with a freezer and PerfectFresh compartment to keep food fresher for longer, or if you prefer, incorporate a dedicated wine conditioner to store your wine at the optimum temperature.
17
The internal and external qualities of Miele fridge-freezers
Precise temperature control
The temperature you select is controlled electronically and accurately. The digital temperature display will advise you as to the exact temperature inside the appliance.
SuperCool and SuperFreeze
The temperature inside the fridge-freez er can be set to the coldest level for a short period of time by pressing the SuperCool or SuperFreeze button. This is particularly useful when chilling or freez ing large amounts of food at once. By freezing food as quickly as possible, the consistency and texture of the food is maintained when
defrosted.
Lighting
All Miele fridges have an interior light so you can find things easily.
DynamicCooling
The Miele DynamicCooling system circu lates air evenly throughout the appliance so items can be stored on any shelf. This results in no moisture loss from the appliance, an even temperature throughout, no odour transfer between sections and efficient cooling performance. It is particularly useful in hot weather, ensuring the optimum cabinet temperature is quickly established once the door has been closed, and saves up to
50% of time when cooling fresh food.
Height adjustable glass shelving
Food can be safely stored on quality shelves made from safety glass. Most are height adjus table, and some are split shelves to allow for the storage of taller items, optimising space inside the fridgefreezer
VarioRoom
The flexibility of VarioRoom allows large items to be stored within the freezer with ease. With certain drawers resting on removable glass shelves, the freezer space is easily transformed to accommodate all shapes and sizes.
18
* Features will vary from model to model.
Please consult individual product descriptions.
The alarm
Miele fridge-freezers have an alarm
indicator light on the control panel and a buzzer which will sound if the temperature in the freezer rises, if the freezer door is kept open for longer than 60 seconds, or if there has been a power cut. The buzzer will sound when the appliance is switched on again, reminding you to check the food.
Dairy compartment
The convenient dairy compartment lid is perfect for quick and easy access.
Adjustable door shelves
The shelves in the door are made from a high quality, transparent plastic with chrome brackets. They are height ad justable, and can be removed if required.
The PerfectFresh zone
This zone is ideally suited to the storage of salad, vegetables, fruit, fish, meat and poultry. With a dry compartment and a
humidity controlled compartment, it is ideal for delicate foods, keeping them fresh for up to two to three times longer than conventional refrigerator drawers.
Features common to all Miele fridge-freezers
CFC and HFC free
All Miele refrigerators and freezers are CFC and HFC free. To protect the environment from harmful gases, pentane is used in the insulation material and isobutane R600a in the circulation system.
Energy classification
Each Miele refrigerator and freezer has been tested under Australian conditions.
The energy rating classification provides a useful guide to the comparative efficiency of individual models.
Reversible doors
Miele refrigerators and freezers leave the factory with the door hinged on the right or the left, depending on the model. On most models, this can easily be changed to the other side if required.
Large freezer drawers
A large amount of food can be stored in the spacious drawers, making eco nomical use of space. The transparent drawer fronts enable you to see what you have stored.
They can be pulled out to the maximum extent without tipping and are enclosed all round so any spillages can be easily contained.

Wine
Anyone who appreciates good wine will know how important it is to store it in the right way. Wine is alive, and as such it reacts either positively or negatively to its environment. Certain conditions need to be met in order for wine to either mature properly or keep without spoiling.
Temperature is ultimately the most important factor. The optimum temperature for storing wine is between 10–12°C, but any constant temperature between 5–20°C is acceptable. Any change in temperature on a daily or weekly basis can have a detrimental effect on the wine and cause it to age prematurely.
Corks should always be kept moist, therefore storing bottles in a humid environment prevents them from drying out and therefore shrinking. If corks are allowed to dry out, they lose their elasticity and allow air to enter the wine, affecting the overall taste. Storing bottles horizontally is important as it allows the wine to remain in contact with the cork, again helping to keep the corks moist.
Extraneous smells and light can also be harmful to wine. Any unwanted smells can enter the wine through the cork, contaminating it, and ultraviolet light may give wine an unpleasant aroma. Therefore a proper ventilation system, such as an active charcoal filter which can be found in all Miele wine conditioners is very important in helping to retain the overall taste of the wine. A solid door or glass door, which protects from UV light is also a necessity.
30
The temperatures in each zone can be individually and precisely selected between
5°C and 20°C.
Miele’s wine conditioning units feature tinted, tempered glass doors which offer protection from harmful UV light, with
LED lighting to enable a clear view of the contents.
All shelves are made from acacia wood and are fitted on telescopic runners, allowing them to be pulled out easily for wine to be removed. Shelf-edge label holders enable you to see what is stored at a glance without disturbing the wine.
What Miele has to offer…
Wine conditioning.
If you don’t have a wine cellar, Miele’s freestanding and built-under wine conditioners offer the ideal storage conditions for red and white wines and champagne.
Thanks to the independently adjustable temperature zones, these units are ideal for long-term and short-term wine storage. Temperatures can be regulated between 5°C and 20°C, with the appliance automatically switching from cooling to heating if the pre-set storage temperature alters, maintaining the chosen temperatures and protecting the wine.
Tinted, tempered glass doors provide protection from UV light, LED lighting enables a clear view of the contents, and active charcoal filters and height adjustable wooden shelves complete these top-of-the-range conditioning units.
Wine combination.
For those who have a requirement for wine storage, but do not have the space for a dedicated wine storage unit, the
KWFN 8706 SE ed could be the ideal solution. Forming one half of a Miele combination centre, the bottom features a freezer with integrated ice maker below a wine conditioner, which holds up to 40 bottles of wine.
Special features include two independently controlled compressors, separate controls for each section and an active charcoal filter to eliminate any unwanted odours.
This appliance is the perfect side-by-side partner for the K 8952 SD ed refrigerator.

Through the skilful combination of technical innovation, award-winning design and the highest quality standards, Miele cooking appliances can assist in realising your wildest kitchen dreams. With simple lines and characteristic design underpinning the entire range, Miele is blazing new trails.
Miele also comes out on top in the realm of “combination possibilities”. No matter how you want your kitchen to look, Miele built-in appliances all match one another and are designed to fit perfectly together, so you can create a feeling of harmony to suit your individual requirements.
So whatever your personal requirements are, you can rest assured that our comprehensive range of ovens, compact ovens with integrated microwave, steam ovens, coffee machines, plate warming drawers, cooktops with gas, electric or induction heating and rangehoods can all be combined to make the very best of the space you have available.
Miele Laundry & Floor care.
What Miele cooking appliances and dishwashers are to the kitchen, Miele washing machines and tumble dryers are to the laundry.
The result of more than one hundred years of history and experience in the development and manufacture of washing machines, they represent the most sophisticated laundry appliances available.
In addition to remarkably low water and energy consumption figures, they sport unique features such as Miele’s patented
HoneycombCare drum, as well as a comprehensive range of programmes.
If you prefer not to compromise in the laundry, who else would you want to entrust the care of the clothes you wear?
For complete peace of mind, many householders find that they simply can’t go past a Miele vacuum cleaner. Ranging from compact models suited for inner city living, to more specialised vacuums such as Miele’s “Cat & Dog” (which is ideal for pet owners) or top-of-the range cleaners which actually groom your carpet, you will find that house work with Miele can become a lot more pleasant.
Dishwashing today – the Miele way.
A truly uncompromising kitchen is not complete without a Miele dishwasher!
Miele produced Europe’s first electrically powered domestic dishwasher in 1929.
Since then, all important advances in dishwashing technology have been closely
associated with the Miele name. Today,
Miele dishwashers excel with a superior combination of features and user benefits.
One of Miele‘s more recent world innovations was the introduction of Miele’s unique cutlery tray, providing a third wash level and superior hygiene, user convenience and safety.
You can choose from a comprehensive range of models, including freestanding, built-under, integrated and fully integrated units.
We challenge anyone to offer you so many advantages. Come and see for yourself as to why, when it comes to dishwashing with Miele, anything else is a compromise.
