SPECIAL ENGINE MAINTENANCE INFORMATION TO KEEP

YOUR GO-PED® AT ITS BEST PERFORMANCE AND

CLEANEST FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT.

WARNING Due to high operating temperatures, make sure that the engine has stopped and is cool before performing any service to the machine.

AIR FILTER

• The air filter, if clogged, will reduce the engine performance. Clean the Air

Filter every 4-6 hours of riding. Check and clean the filter element in warm, soapy water as required. Dry completely before installing. If the element is broken or shrunk, replace with a new one.

FUEL FILTER

• When the engine runs short of fuel supply, check the fuel cap and the fuel filter for blockage.

SPARK PLUG

• Starting failure and misfiring are often caused by a fouled spark plug. Clean the spark plug and check that the plug gap is in the correct range. For a replacement plug, use the correct type.

• REPLACEMENT PLUG IS A NGK CMR7A.

IMPORTANT CORRECT PLUG GAP IS .024 - .026”

Note that using any spark plug other than those designated may result in engine failing to operate properly or in the engine becoming overheated and damaged.

To install the spark plug, first turn the plug until it is finger tight, then tighten it a quarter turn more with a socket wrench.

SPARK PLUG TIGHTENING TORQUE: 87-104 in-lbs

THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Keep air-intake opening clear of debris and do not touch the muffler or cylinder.

These parts get extremely hot from operation, and remain hot for a short time after the equipment is turned off.

WARNING

• Periodically inspect the muffler for loose fasteners, any damage or corrosion. If any sign of exhaust leakage is found, stop using the machine and have it repaired immediately.

• Note that failing to do so may result in the engine catching on fire.

STARTING INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE YOU RIDE – GSR40 Go-Ped® should be warmed up.

Note: Your GSR40 is equipped with a centrifugal clutch. Giving it too much gas during warm up will cause it to propel forward.

Make sure the rear tire is off the ground to prevent this from occuring

1.

Pump primer bulb until fuel flows steadily through clear, overflow tube.

2.

Move choke lever to the closed position. (Upward: Closed Choke)

3.

Set throttle to start position (half).

4.

Pull starter, until engine starts.

5. Move choke lever to the open position as soon at the engine starts.

5.

Allow engine to warm up before using.

After warming up the engine (30 seconds – 1 minute), place hands on the hand grips

(no throttle). Place one foot on Go-Ped Standing Platform. With the other foot, briskly push the Go-Ped® forward.

6.

To stop: use the Red Button to kill the engine

Chain Care and Maintenance

Proper chain care and maintenance is essential to longevity and wear of the drive components on your GSR40.

Make sure that the sprockets are perfectly aligned to each other. You can check this visually by lining up the rear sprocket with the front and seeing that the chain is straight.

The four screws that hold the motor in place can be loosened to allow you to realign the sprockets if necessary.

The chain tensioner is a critical element in chain maintenance. As your ride your

GSR40 the chain will stretch over time and without the tensioner you can throw a chain and cause permanent damage to the drive components and or cause a loss in control of your GSR40. As the chain wears, you will need to loosen the quick release lever so you can gently pull up on the tensioner and take up any chain slack (pulling up more than necessary will cause your drive components to wear prematurely and add performance reducing drive system friction).

• The chain should be lubricated before each ride and your GSR40 chain tensioner has a built-in pocket designed to hold one opened, small tank-size Go-Mix II packet that will direct a light drip effect directly on the chain for your convenience and to minimize the chance to prematurely wear out your chain. Go-Mix II packets are available from your local dealer.

IMPORTANT Never lubricate your chain while engine is running

Your chain should be clean. A safe cleaning solvent can be used but the chain must be oiled once it is dry.

To reduce dirt and grime build-up and overspray on rear brake components, never over lubricate the chain.

Sprockets should be periodically checked for damage and wear. If you notice that there is any damage to the sprockets or a tooth missing it should be replaced immediately.

FUELING & PRE-OPERATIONAL

Gasoline is extremely flammable, and its vapors can explode if ignited. Always stop the engine and allow to cool before filling fuel tank. Do not smoke while filling fuel tank.

Keep sparks and open flames away from the area.

• Add fuel in a clean, well-ventilated area. Avoid spilling the fuel when mixing the oil.

Wipe up spilled fuel immediately. If fuel has been spilled, allow to dry completely before starting the engine.

• Move the unit at least 10 feet (3m) from the fueling point before starting the engine.

Pressure can build up in the fuel tank. Loosen the cap on the fuel tank slowly to relieve any pressure in the tank.

• Store gasoline and fuel only in containers designed and approved for the storage of such materials.

OIL & FUEL INFORMATION

Note: For proper engine operation and maximum reliability, pay strict attention to the oil and fuel-mixing instructions. Use Gasoline as indicated in the specifications. Use

a high quality 50:1 fuel/oil ratio (2-cycle). Improperly mixed fuel can severely damage the engine.

Use the following procedure to ensure proper mixing:

• Put a small amount of fresh gasoline (87 Octane or greater) into a clean (1) U.S.

gallon (3.875-liter) fuel can.

• Add 2.65 ounces of high quality 2-cycle oil.

• Fill the remainder of the fuel can with gasoline (1 gallon).

• Screw the cap of the fuel can on tight, and SHAKE THE CAN VIGOROUSLY FOR 30

SECONDS.

* For convienent oil/fuel mixing, add two tank size Go-Mix II Packets to each fill up of your GSR40 Gas Tank

BE SURE TO READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO

START OR OPERATE THIS UNIT. Using old or improper oil or fuel, or improperly mixing the oil and fuel can cause engine damage. This type of damage will void engine warranty.

FOLDING FEATURE

BEFORE YOU RIDE - Be certain the sliding handle lock tube is in its full down position, locking the handlebar upright. The handle latch hooks to the motor casing to hold the handle in the folded position for carrying or for storage.

CONTROLS

BEFORE YOU RIDE - Familiarize yourself with how your Go-Ped® works.

• The red button operates the engine shut off.

• The left-hand lever operates the front-wheel disc brake.

• The right plastic lever operates throttle control.

• The right aluminum lever operates rear-wheel disc brake.

• The kick-stand is used to stand your Go-Ped® in an upright and stopped position.

• The handle bar supports the rider and steers the Go-Ped® just like a bicycle. Always use both hands on the handle bar when riding.

GSR GO-PED® PNEUMATIC TIRE INFORMATION

• Never use tires or tubes not recommended by the manufacturer or exceed maximum P.S.I. limits as stated on the side of tires.

TIRE REPLACEMENT

GSR Go-Ped® :

Replace front or rear tires when tread is worn within 1/16" tread depth, or if obvious tire damage has occurred.

SAFETY WARNING

Tire-wear, punctures or ruptures can cause immediate loss of control, which may effect operator and precipitate serious bodily injury.

TIPS

BEFORE YOU RIDE - Thoroughly inspect the unit for loose or damaged parts before each use. Do not use until adjustments or repairs are made. New engine break-in period is a few hours. Avoid full-throttle operation during this time. Position your feet in any location that is comfortable to you. Most prefer a parallel stance with the left leg slightly behind the right and bearing most of the weight while bending your knees.

When accelerating or climbing hills you will need to lean forward a little to keep the front wheel on the ground. Under hard braking conditions you will need to lean back to keep the rear-wheel on the ground.

SCOOTING CAN BE an environmentally safe, useful, and fun way of reducing traffic congestion.

MODIFICATIONS to the exhaust or intake will void the manufacturer’s warranty of your

Go-Ped® and change the noise level which can and will disturb others.

DO NOT make changes or modifications to your scooter which can make your scooter act in an unsafe manner.

SAFETY WARNING

Operate this unit only in a well-ventilated area (i.e. outdoors). Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area.
