1. Function Test

TOOL/EQUIPMENT

SD card*2, TV, AC adapter, lens-wiping paper

USB cable, flower, accessory, computer

OPERATION DESCRIPTION

Part I

1 Insert SD card as instruction. Install batteries. Open lens cover, press

Down button to confirm if F/W version is correct, images on LCD is normal, LCD displays SD signal, and LCD comes out the Date Setting image automatically.

2 Make the 45 Drop Test of camera, both from the left side and right side. Check if the camera will be NG for power off, hanging on or noise.

3 Confirm the camera by facing black and white paper. Check if LCD displays bright spot, dark spot, color spot or black stamp.

4 Take a photo towards beyond, and shift to Playback Mode to check the pictures on LCD and confirm the pictures’ date is not the initial date.

5 Press MENU button to enter the menu, select to delete pictures, and the camera displays “No Picture”.

6 If all the above are ok, close the lens cover and SD card.

II

1 Power on with AD Adapter; check if the power-on image and LCD display are normal.

2 Prod the Macro/ Normal switch to Mode, press SET button to select digital zoom 2X mode, take a photo to the flower, and confirm if there is any abnormal noise, shaking, difficulty to prod or no segment when prod the switch.

3 Prod the Macro/ Normal switch to Mode, press Right button to select

mode to take a photo towards brightness (triggering is NG); take a photo towards darkness (no triggering is NG, flash more than twice is ok); take a photo towards brightness in Red-eye mode (triggering is

NG), towards darkness (no triggering is NG, flash for more than three times is ok); take a photo towards brightness in Forced flash mode

(no triggering is NG); take a photo towards darkness in Forbidden Flash

Mode (triggering is NG).

4 Press Mode button to select Movie Mode, take a movie for 5~10 sec﹐ confirm if the record is normal (when taking a movie, there should be some sound).

5 Press MODE button to select , choose the movie files, press OK to playback, check if the movie play is normal; view the pictures which are taken before, confirm if they are ok.

6 Power off, insert SD cards, power on again, repeat step 3 to step 5, confirm if normal.

III

1 Connect PC with USB cable, select Disk Driver; enter into computer to check if the pictures and movies are normal (including the sound of movies).

2 If the above step is ok, exit USB Mode; press Mode Button to select then press Menu button, select Format under Setting Menu, format

FLASH Memory; delete all the pictures and movies.

3 Select menu to SET TO DEFAULT, resume the tacit value, exit MENU, the camera displays “NO PICTURE”.

4 Select 10 cameras out of one section to do the following test:

<1>. Set to the Flash (Auto) mode, take 30 pictures towards darkness; confirm if there is triggering and if the pictures taken are normal.

<2>. Press LEFT button after power on, select Self Timer, set 5s and exit; press SHUTTER to take a picture, confirm if can take a picture and the picture taken is ok.

<3>. Connect to PC, test the PC CAM function, there cannot be any noise or layer-division.

5 Record the checking result.

If change any PCB of DSC, the calibration is necessary.

2. Trouble Shooting

1. LCD display

NG Analyzing solution

1>. Check if connection between battery spring and battery is OK;

2>. Check if fuses F2, F3, F4 are ok;

3>. Check if trigger board SW1 is ok;

4>. Check if connection between JP1 and

JP2 is cold solder;

5>. Check if connection between JP2 of power board and JP1 of MCU/B is OK;

6>. Check if each output voltage is normal;

7>. If there is any abnormity of the output voltage, check if the related components of each circuit’s output is soldered well;

8>. Check if the switch tube of each power is ok;

9>. Change Power IC U1;

10>. If the output voltage is normal, check if T1 and Q5 are ok;

11>. Check if crystal Y1, Y2 of MCU board worked normally;

12>. Re-update F/W;

13>. Check if the solder of NAND FLASH

(U13)& SDRAM (U12) is ok;

14>. If all the above are ok but electric current is between 180~230mA, change the NAND FLASH (U13);

15>. Change DSP.

1>. The camera memory & SD card is full

2. No reaction when press the capture button

3. Fail to save picture

Fail to UPDATE

1>. Check if buttons are cold solder or broken;

2>. Format the memory.

1>. Confirm if the SD card is OK;

2>. Check if SD base is cold soldered;

3>. Check if U13 NAND FLASH and U12

SDRAM are ok.

1>. Check if SD card base is cold soldered;

2>. Check if SD card has the program and the program name is correct;

3>. Check if the resistance line and related solder are ok;

4>. Change the NAND FLASH (U13).

Charging and

Triggering system

Lens System image/noise

Charging fail or insufficient charging voltage

Charging is normal but no triggering

Blur shot connected to interface, gold finger has smear;

2>. Check if LCD&CCD & FPC are ok;

3>. Check if JP2 21 pin (LED ANOOE) on MCU has 12V to input;

4>. Check if JP2 24 pin (LED AVDD) on

MCU has 3.3V to input;

5>. Change CDS.

1>. Check if Q5, T1, D7 are ok;

2>. Check if the related capacitance and resistance of charging circuit are ok;

3>. Check if the signal of CHGCK &

CHG_ON are ok;

4>. Check if U3 is cold soldered or NG;

5>. Check if Big capacitor is leakage.

1>. Check if Flash Mode set is correct;

2>. Check if lead wire of reflector is cold soldered, open circuit;

3>. Check if trigger board IGBT Q6 is triggered to broken;

4>. Check if T2 and related components are cold soldered, open circuit or NG;

5>. Check if tube is cold soldering/offset/crack/broken-circuit;

6>. Check if STROBE signal is set off.

1>. Check MCU board SW1 is cold soldered or broken which resulted in fail in switching while distant shot and close shot;

2>. Check if lens is dirty;

3>. Check if the shutter is move normally.

Communications

System

USB no connection 1>. Check if USB interface is cold soldered, insufficient soldering;

2>. Check if USB wire, interface are OK;

3>. Check if the internal PIN of USB connector is distort;

4>. Change the DSP.

4. Firmware Update Procedure

Product : G-Shot P713

To update this camera firmware, you will need to have

1. The new firmware file from KYE.

2. One SD card.

3. One card reader.

Please follow the steps below to perform the update process:

1. Prepare a formatted and empty SD card.

2. Insert the SD card into the camera, which with file “DS5080M.BIN”.

3. Press SHTTUER key and power on.

4. LED lamp is on when updating.

5. When LED blinks, it means update ok.

6. Power off.

Note: Don’t remove the power source during firmware update procedures.
