A Volume/Power Control – Press the control to turn the audio system on or off.

Turn the control to raise or lower volume. To engage speed sensitive volume feature (if equipped), press and hold the volume control for five seconds (with the radio on), then press SEL to choose the compensation level.

B Mute Mode – Press to mute the playing media. Press again to return to the playing media.

C AM/FM & CD Select – In radio mode, press to select AM or FM frequency bands.

In tape or CD mode, press to stop play and begin radio play. Press CD to enter CD mode and to play a CD already in the system.

D Tune Adjust – In radio mode, press to move to the next frequency up or down the band.

E Seek Function – In radio mode, press to find the next listenable station up or down the band. In tape mode, press to move to the next/previous selection on the tape. In

CD mode, press to select the next/previous track on the current disc.

F Tape Select – To begin tape play while in radio mode, press the tape control.

Scan Function – In radio mode, press to hear a sampling of all listenable stations.

In tape or CD mode, press to hear a brief sampling of all selections.

H Select – press to adjust sound output and distribution after selecting BASS, TREB, BAL or FADE.

I Autoset Memory Preset – Select AM,

FM1, or FM2 band, then press AUTO SET to activate autoset memory preset, which allows you to set strong radio stations without losing your original manually set preset stations.

Press again to deactivate autoset.

J Setting Memory Preset Stations –

Select AM, FM1 or FM2 band, then select a station. Next, press and hold a control until the sound returns.

* CDs with adhesive labels and irregularly shaped CDs may get stuck in the CD player. Homemade CDs should be identified with permanent felt tip marker rather than adhesive labels.

A Temperature Selection – To control the temperature for the driver and for the passenger, select the desired temperature by pressing the driver’s or passenger’s temperature control.

E A/C Control – Press to manually enable or disable the air conditioning in all modes except Defrost. Used in conjunction with the recirculation control, it will reduce the amount of time required to cool the inside of the vehicle.

B Outside Temperature – Press to display the outside air temperature. Press again to disengage.

Fan Speed – To adjust manually, use the control to raise or lower the fan speed.

F Dual Operation – Press DUAL to enable or disable the dual zone temperature feature. In addition, the passenger may manually enable the dual zone temperature feature by pressing the passenger’s temperature control.

D Automatic Operation – In addition to determining fan speed and airflow location, it also determines if the system is to use outside or recirculated air to heat or cool the interior.

G Manual Override Controls – When pressed, these five controls will override automatic operation. All controls allow you to determine where airflow is directed. To return to automatic operation, press AUTO.

A Auxiliary Radio Controls – Depending on the mode, press NEXT to select a preset station, the next selection on a tape, or the next track on a disc. Use VOL + or VOL – to adjust the volume.

The electronic message center, located on your instrument cluster, displays important vehicle information through a constant monitor of vehicle systems. This system only works when the ignition is in the ON position. The message center allows you to check distance traveled, monitor the average speed and fuel economy, check the on/off status of the speed control and air suspension system, see problems such as check gauge, see a more accurate speed than your analog speedometer while driving, see how many kilometers/miles you can drive before running out of fuel, and see how many liters/gallons of fuel remain in the fuel tank.

You can select different features for the message center to display by using the message center controls located in the center of the instrument panel. Please refer to your Owner’s Guide for complete details on the message center display features.

A Select – Each press of this control will select a different feature as follows: SPEED,

FUEL ECON, DIST TO EMPTY, AVG SPEED,

TRIP A/TRIP B, E/M. For descriptions of the

SELECT features, please refer to your

Owner’s Guide.

B Reset – Press this control to reset the selected message center function to zero.

The only functions that can be reset are

FUEL ECON and TRIP A/TRIP B.

R e m o t e T r u n k R e l e a s e C o n t r o l

This control is located on the driver’s door trim panel and can be operated at any time except when your perimeter alarm system is armed.

You may also open your trunk using your key fob or the optional keyless entry system.

Press the control to open the trunk. If your vehicle is equipped with a power trunk, press the button again to close the trunk. You can render the switch inoperable by locking the button with your master key.

To close the trunk, gently push the trunk down until you feel it latch. The power down latch will then complete the full closing of the trunk. Do not "slam" your trunk or force it downward.

Fuel Tank Capacity – Your vehicle’s fuel tank can accommodate 71.9L (19 gallons) of gasoline.

Your vehicle is designed to use "Regular" unleaded gasoline with pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 for optimum performance. The use of gasoline with lower octane ratings may degrade performance.

Tire Pressure – Your tire pressure is properly set at the dealership according to the recommended specifications found on the Certification Label located on the front door latch pillar on the driver’s side. Please check your tire pressure during routine maintenance and seasonal changes.

Warning: Improperly inflated tires can affect vehicle handling and can fail suddenly, possibly resulting in loss of vehicle control.

Fuses – If electrical components in the vehicle are not working, a fuse may have blown. For more information about changing the fuse, please consult your Owner’s Guide.

Changing the Tires – If you get a flat tire while driving, do not apply the brake heavily. Instead, gradually decrease your speed. Hold the steering wheel firmly and slowly move to a safe place on the side of the road. Your vehicle is equipped with a temporary spare tire. The temporary spare is smaller than a regular tire and is designed for emergency use only. Replace this tire with a full-size tire as soon as possible. Also, be sure to turn OFF the air suspension switch (if equipped) prior to jacking, hoisting, or towing your vehicle.

Congratulations on acquiring a Lincoln Town Car. Your elegant new vehicle possesses many sophisticated features, from steering wheel mounted controls to power adjustable foot pedals. This Quick Reference Guide was designed to acquaint you with many of the features you’ll be using most.

Headlamp Control

Rotate clockwise one position to turn on the parking, instrument panel, license plate, and tail lamps. Rotate to the second position to also turn on the headlamps. Rotate counterclockwise to activate autolamp, which provides light-sensitive automatic on-off control of the exterior lights and keeps them on for a short period of time after the ignition is turned OFF.

Panel Dimmer Control

Use to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel during headlamp and parklamp operation. Rotate to the right to brighten and to the left to dim. Rotate fully to the right to also turn on the domelamp. To turn off the domelamp, rotate to the left.

Service Engine Soon Lamp

Illuminates briefly to ensure the system is functional. If the light comes on after the engine is started, please refer to your Owner’s

Guide. To help prevent activation, always secure your fuel cap by turning it clockwise

1/8 of a turn until it stops.

If the fuel cap is not properly secured, the warning "Check Fuel Cap" will also be displayed on the message center. The warning will be reset once the cap is properly tightened and your vehicle is driven a short distance.

ABS Warning Lamp

Illuminates briefly when the ignition is turned to the ON position. In an emergency, apply continuous force on the brake to prevent wheel lock when braking on slippery surfaces - do not pump your brakes. Any pulsation or noise you may feel or hear is normal.

Gearshift/Overdrive Control

Overdrive is the normal drive position for the best fuel economy. Only deactivate (OFF) overdrive when: driving with a heavy load, towing a trailer up or down steep hills, or when additional engine braking is desired. To deactivate, press the transmission control switch

(TCS) located on the end of the gearshift lever.

Clock

To set the instrument panel mounted clock, press the right or left control to increase or decrease the time displayed.

Front and Rear Window

Defroster Controls

Push to clear the front or rear window of thin ice and fog. If equipped with heated outside mirrors, press the rear window defrost control to heat. The rear defroster turns off after a predetermined time, or when the ignition is turned off.

Auxiliary Power Point

Located under the instrument panel, the auxiliary power point is an additional power source for electrical accessories. Improper use of the power outlet may cause damage not covered by your warranty.

Speed Control

To operate, the speed control must be ON and the vehicle’s speed must be at or above 48 km/h (30 mph). To set a speed, press ON.

To set a higher speed, press and hold SET+ until the desired speed is reached. Vehicle speed can also be increased incrementally one mph by briefly tapping SET+. To set a lower speed, press and hold SET– until the desired speed is reached.

Pressing RESUME will return to a previously set speed. To disengage the speed control without erasing the previously programmed set speed, depress the brake pedal. To turn the speed control off, press the OFF button or turn off the ignition.

Traction Control

TM

This system allows your vehicle to make better use of available traction on slippery surfaces. The system defaults to ON; however, should your vehicle become stuck, try switching the traction control off.

Turn Signal and

Wiper/Washer Control

Rotate the control to the desired interval, low or high speed. The bars of varying length are for intermittent wipers.

Rotate up for fast intervals and down for slow.

Push the end of the stalk to activate the washer.

Push and release quickly to operate the mist function. The wipers will cycle one or two times.

Push and hold for a longer wash cycle.

The exterior lamps will illuminate when the ignition is ON and the windshield wiper control is in the interval, LO or HI position. The headlamps will automatically turn off 30 seconds after the wipers are turned off.

Adjust the pedals only when the vehicle is stopped and the gearshift lever is in the P (Park) position.

Remote Entry System

Press this control once to unlock the driver’s door, and twice to unlock all doors.

Press this control once to lock all doors; the horn will chirp and the parklamps/taillamps will flash to confirm that all doors are closed and locked. If you press a second time, the parklamps/taillamps will flash.

Press this control to open the trunk. If equipped with a power trunk, press twice to open and twice to close.

Press this control to activate the panic alarm. To deactivate, press the control again, or turn the ignition to the ACC,

ON or START position.

Memory Functions

(if equipped)

Each key fob corresponds to different memory positions. Key fob 1 corresponds to memory setting 1, while key fob 2 corresponds to memory setting 2.

You may set the memory functions for the driver’s seat, side view mirrors, and adjustable pedals by using the SET memory control located on the driver’s door. To deactivate the memory feature of your key fob, or to learn more about any of your memory settings, please consult your Owner’s Guide.

Heated Seats

(if equipped)

Push the right portion of the control for maximum heat.

Push again to deactivate. Push the left portion for minimum heat. Push again to deactivate. The heated seats will activate when the ignition is in the RUN position, and, if activated, turn off automatically when the ignition is switched off.

Keyless Entry System

With this control you can open the trunk or lock/unlock all doors without using a key. First, enter your five-digit program code and then press the corresponding quick key:

Open the trunk..........................5-6

Unlock all doors........................3-4

Lock all simultaneously.....7-8 and 9-0

If your vehicle is equipped with a power trunk, pressing the 5-6 control (after entering your access code again) will close the trunk.

Power Lumbar Support

(if equipped)

This control is located on the front of the seat cushion on the inboard side of the seat. Press the top side of the control to adjust firmness.

Press the bottom side of the control to adjust softness.
