Before connecting the appliance read these instructions carefully.

Repairing the failure arising from inappropriate connections or use of the appliance is not covered by the guarantee.

▼ This appliance has been designed for use as a domestic washing machine. Any other use is considered as improper and therefore dangerous.

▼ Any modifi cations or attempts to interfere with the washing machine can be dangerous for the user and may damage the appliance itself.

▼ Considering the substantial weight of the washing machine, specifi c safety standards must be observed during handling.

▼

The washing machine must not be used by children unless supervised.

▼ Any modifications to the mains water or electricity supply must be carried out by authorised technicians only.

▼ When positioning the washing machine, ensure that the power supply cable is not kinked or squashed and is accessible.

▼

Before using the washing machine, remove all the packing and locking devices used for the transport (locking screws). If this is not done, serious damage may be caused to both the appliance and your home.

If the washing machine is installed on a carpeted fl oor, leave suffi cient space between the appliance and the fl oor to guarantee the free circulation of air.

Do not overload the washing machine.

▼ When the appliance is in operation, avoid any contact with the water being discharged through the drain hose, as it may be very hot.

Before placing the washing in the washing machine, make sure that all pockets are empty.

Hard or pointed objects such as coins, pins, nails, screws or stones can cause serious damage to the appliance.

Never wash items that have been soiled with substances containing petrol. In the case

▼ where stains have been removed using vaporising products, wait until these substances have fully evaporated from the surface of the material before loading into the washing machine.

The use and quantities of detergent, softener and bleach must comply with the instructions reported on the packaging.

▼ Do not use detergents designed for hand washing, in that the excessive suds produced could damage the internal components.

▼ After washing mats, blankets or any other long-fi bre materials, remove the fi lter and clean it if necessary.

It is advisable to leave the door open at the end of the wash cycle.

Do not attempt to repair any appliance faults alone, in that repairs carried out by a nonprofessional may cause serious damage and will invalidate any rights to repairs under guarantee.

Repairs to the appliance can only be carried out by personnel authorised by the customer service centres. All repairs must make use of original spare parts only.

Never dry unwashed items.

Do not dry items that have been washed or had stains removed using chemical products.

Never dry items that have been soiled with substances such as cooking oil, petroleum, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, stain removers, turpentine, wax.

Remove these substances in a hot wash using an abundant quantity of detergent prior to loading the items in the drier.

▼

Do not dry items such as foam rubber, latex, raincoats, waterproof fabrics, rubber mats, preformed items, clothes or cushions with foam rubber padding, as these may melt and damage other items in the washing or even the appliance itself.

WARNING!!! The fi nal part of a drying cycle is the cooling down phase. Consequently, never switch off the drier before the cycle has been completed. Otherwise, the washing must be taken out quickly and hung out to allow the heat to dissipate.

Never insert or remove the plug from the mains socket with wet hands.

The washing machine must be connected to a mains socket fi tted with an effi cient earth complying with current safety standards.

Do not use extension leads or multiple plug adapters to connect the washing machine to the mains electricity supply.

Do not expose the appliance to atmospheric agents.

The washing machine can only be opened once the led or display indicates that the cycle has fi nished. On some models, this is signalled by a fl ashing start button.

When servicing or cleaning the washing machine, remember to disconnect it from the mains electricity supply.

Do not pull the power supply cable to unplug the washing machine from the mains supply. Pull the plug only.

It is advisable to unplug the washing machine from the mains electricity supply and close-off the water supply after each wash.

The washing machine is a household appliance that can wash any type of fabric whenever you want.

The structure of the machine is fabricated in steel sheet, which has been worked using a special process and then enamelled in order to maintain its external appearance and protect it against corrosion.

The ample glass door makes loading and unloading easier.

The perfect machine balance is the result of many years of research aimed at fi nding the correct balance between the various moving parts.

The motor and all the other moving parts are built to ensure noiseless machine operation.

The large stainless steel drum is well placed to guarantee a good wash quality and prolong the life of the washing.

The easy to use control panel makes the selection of any wash or dry programme quick and simple (see control panel and table of programmes).

INSTALLING THE MACHINE

(ACCORDING TO MODEL)

The machine must be installed by professionally qualifi ed technicians, according to the manufacturer’s indications. Incorrect installation may result in damage to persons and property.

The machine can be installed anywhere, provided the temperature in the place of installation is not below 3°C and the cables and hoses at the rear of the machine are not crushed in any way.

WARNING!! The washer/drier version must not be installed behind a locked door, a sliding door or with a hinged door on the opposite wall to the washer/drier itself.

For transport reasons, the washing machine’s oscillating group is locked in place by 4 spacers and screws. Before using the machine, remove the spacers and locking screws. Keep the screws and spacers for future use.

INSTALLING THE MACHINE

LEVELLING THE WASHING MACHINE

After selecting a suitable position, level the machine carefully using the adjustable feet (Fig. 4). Particular care must be taken when selecting the position, levelling the washing machine and ensuring the safety of lock nuts.

If levelling is not carried out correctly, the washing machine will be unstable and noisy during operation, which may result in damage.

If the machine stands on a carpet fl oor, make sure that air can circulate freely between the washing machine and the fl oor itself. It is not recommended that the machine be installed in locations where the temperature is liable to drop below freezing.

CONNECTION TO THE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

The mains water pressure must be between 0.05 and 1.00 MPa (0.5 - 10 bar.)

Before connecting the water fi ll hose, open the valve and allow a quantity of water to fl ow. This will censure that the supply pipes are free from impurities, such as sand or rust (this operation is very important when the washing machine is being connected to a new supply system or if the system has not been used for a long period of time).

Connect the water fi ll hose to a 3/4 threaded cold water outlet.

N.B. On electronic washing machines fi tted with a dual solenoid valve (hot and cold water), connect the red hose to the hot water supply valve and the other hose to the cold water supply valve.

If a hot water supply is not available, both hoses must be connected to the cold supply using the fi tting supplied (see fi g. 5A)

Place the fi lter washer supplied between the hose and the valve and hand tighten the connection as much as possible (fi g. 5).

N.B.: Use the new pipe supplied with the machine and do not reuse the old one.

Fit the washer on the other end of the supply hose, and screw it onto the washing machine (fi g. 6).

▼

The water supply tap must be fully open when washing.

▼

The water drain hose must be placed at least 60 cm and not more than 90 cm from the fl oor (fi g. 7).

▼

If the drain hose is connected to a fi xed drainage system, the free end must be inserted in a pipe of minimum internal diameter 40 mm.

▼

The drain hose water connection to the drainage system must not be hermetically sealed, as this would cause air to accumulate and the water to siphon out.

▼

If the waste water is to be discharged into a sink or washbasin, insert the hose in the special bracket supplied and hook it over the edge of the sink or washbasin. Then tie the hose and bracket to a tap or similar (fi g. 8). To avoid overfl owing, the sink drain must be clear of obstructions and must be able to empty quickly.

CONNECTING TO THE MAINS ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

Make sure that the voltage indicated on the identifi cation plate attached to the inside of the fi lter door corresponds to that of the mains supply (fi g. 9).

All cut-outs, electric wiring and mains sockets must have a rating such that enables them to support the maximum load indicated on the identifi cation plate.

Once the appliance has been installed, it must be connected to the mains supply through a single-pole switch.

The mains supply to which the appliance is connected must be fi tted with an earthing system. If this is not the case, the manufacturer will not be held liable for any incidents that may occur (fi g. 10).

If the mains socket to which the appliance is connected is faulty or unsuitable, it must be replaced by a qualifi ed electrician.

The washing machine must not be connected to the mains supply using indirect methods such as extension leads or multiple adapters.

During maintenance work, the washing machine must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply.

Do not insert or remove the plug from the mains socket with wet hands.

If the power supply cable is damaged in any way, contact the appropriate specialised service centre.

The plug used to connect the machine to the power supply must never be fi xed behind the machine, but must be in a position easily accessible in an emergency.

USING THE WASHING MACHINE

RECOMMENDATIONS PRIOR TO USE

Attention: Before running the machine loaded for the fi rst time, we re-commend that you run a short washing cycle with the machine empty.

This makes it possible to check operation of the machine and clean the drum.

▼ check that all water connections are tight, the drain hose is positioned correctly

(see connection to the water supply) and the supply tap is open.

▼ make sure that your hands are dry, then insert the plug into the power socket.

▼ divide the washing according to fabric type (check the labels on the clothes).

▼ check that the clothes to be washed have nothing in their pockets that might damage the washing, the washing machine or the fi lter.

USE OF DETERGENTS

use a low-foam detergent and softener (if necessary), of the type indicated for automatic washing machines. Use the doses recommended on the package.

N.B. Excessive amounts of detergent may result in too much foam, and give a poor quality wash.

Insuffi cient amounts of detergent may mean that the washing does not come properly clean.

N.B. When fi lling the detergent compartment it is important that the detergent does not overfl ow into the compartment used for fabric softener, as this would result in a rinse cycle containing soap, which might leave the washing with white stains. Equally, do not allow the fabric softener to overfl ow into the detergent compartment, as this would reduce the cleaning capacity.

HOW TO REMOVE SOME STAINS

Stains exist that cannot be removed by machine washing alone. Before trying to remove any type of stain by hand, fi rst try the removal procedure on a small area of hidden fabric. Start from the edge of the stain and working inwards, this will prevent a dark ring from forming around the site of the stain. A few methods to adopt for removing stains are reported below.

: Scrape the wax using a rounded point in order not to damage the fabric. Then, with the fabric placed between two pieces of absorbent paper, run a hot iron over the stain.

: clean using a soft cloth soaked in ethyl alcohol. Take care not to spread the stain.

: if the fabric supports the use of bleach, carry out a wash cycle adding bleach. Otherwise, soak the soiled part in hydrogen peroxide (10 volumes) and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.

: rub ice over the fabric, scrape away as much chewing gum as possible and then rub with a piece of cotton soaked in acetone.

: do not allow the paint to dry. Rub the area with the solvent recommended by the paint manufacturer (e.g. water, turps, trichloroethylene), soap and then rinse.

: stains on cotton or wool can be eliminated using a cloth soaked in ether. Stains on silk require the use of trichloroethylene.

: place a sheet of absorbent paper on the stained material, then dampen the back of the fabric with acetone, frequently changing the absorbent paper placed over the stain. Continue in this manner until the stain has disappeared.

: spread a little fresh butter over the stain, allow to stand and then wash with oil of turpentine.

RASS

: delicately soap the stain, use diluted bleach. Good results can be obtained on woollen fabrics using 90% alcohol.

: put into soak in cold water with added salt, then wash with washing soap.

MAINTENANCE

The washing machine has been designed to reduce maintenance to a minimum. However, it is important that you remember to clean it regularly.

Before cleaning, make sure that the appliance has been disconnected from the power supply and that the water supply tap has been turned off.

CLEANING THE WASHING MACHINE

The external structure and the parts of the washing machine in plastic must be cleaned with a soft damp cloth only.

WARNING!! Never use chemicals, abrasive products, alcohol, soap, petrol or other solvents to clean the appliance as these may cause damage. (fi g.20)

After washing, leave the door open for a little while to allow rubber parts to dry.

Wash out the detergent compartments from time to time. To do this, extract the detergent compartment and rinse it under running water, (fi g. 20/A) then replace it.

- press on the word “PUSH” with the right hand and pull out the drawer with the left hand (fi g.

- open the detergent drawer;

- grasp it with both hands, push down slightly and pull the drawer outwards (fi g. B).

CLEANING THE FILTER

ATTENTION!! Before starting the operations described below, make sure that the washing machine is empty. Do not remove the fi lter while the machine is running, or when full of water.

Place a cloth or fl at plate under the fi lter to collect any water that may still be inside it. Open the fi lter door, unscrew the fi lter and remove it, turning in an anticlockwise direction (fi g.21).

The fi lter must be cleaned periodically.

Rinse the fi lter under running water to eliminate all waste. Replace the fi lter, screwing in a clockwise direction and making sure it is hermetically sealed.

If the appliance is not working properly, check through the following troubleshooting guide before calling for technical assistance. In some models malfunctions are indicated by an error code displayed at the end of the cycle.

1) All the locking elements used for transportation have been removed.

1) The wash cycle has fi nished.

2) The Stop with water function has not been selected (automatic on some models).

The washing has not been spun properly

• Make sure that:

1) The washing is evenly distributed in the drum

2) The correct spin speed has been selected

The washing machine stops during a wash

• Make sure that:

1) The mains power supply is working

There is still a lot of detergent in the compartment

• Make sure that:

1) The mains water supply valve is open

2) The fi lter between the valve and the supply hose is clean

The washing is not clean at the end of the wash cycle

• Make sure that:

1) The drum has not been overloaded

2) The correct amount of detergent has been used

3) The correct programme has been selected

The washing has shrunk or faded

• Make sure that:

1) The correct washing programme has been selected

2) The correct washing temperature has been selected

The washing machine does not dry (washerdryer models only)

• Make sure that:

1) The mains water supply valve is open

2) The drain fi lter is clean

3) The washing machine is switched on (indicator light or display lit)

4) The drying program has been selected

5) The drying time has been set

If, after all these checks have been carried out, the appliance still does not work, inform the nearest customer service centre. When contacting the service centre, inform them of the appliance model, serial number and type of fault. The data relating the appliance can be found on the rating plate affi xed to the inside of the fi lter door. This information will help the service centre operator in procuring the necessary spare parts, thus guaranteeing a speedy and effi cient repair.

USING THE WASHING MACHINE

“EASY LOGIC” TECHNOLOGY

The Easy Logic II system automatically reduces the wash time and water and power consumption according to the amount of washing placed in the drum.

The washing machine will automatically programme a half-load or incomplete load wash cycle without the need for any intervention.

WASH CYCLE:

(Follow these instructions and the washing machine will run the selected wash cycle)

1. Open the door. Load the washing loosely in the drum without compacting it. (Items of different sizes strengthen the washing action and are distributed better during spinning).

Warning: Do not overload the washing machine. It is not advisable to wash items that absorb large quantities of water such as carpets.

2. Close the door using a light pressure. Check that none of the items have become trapped between the door and the gasket.

3. Add a low-suds powder detergent and softener designed for automatic washing machines in the respective compartments (see chapter “USE OF DETERGENTS).

4. Close the detergent drawer. Do not open the drawer while the machine is working as this may cause water to spill out.

5. Rotate the programmer knob (P) to select the programme and required temperature according to the type of fabric to wash (see: “PROGRAMME TABLES”)

6. Select the (C) buttons with the required functions (see “OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS”).

7. Press button (L) to start the wash cycle (see “START BUTTON”)

8. At the end of the wash cycle, turn the program selector knob (P) on “STOP”.

9. With dry hands, unplug the washing machine from the mains supply.

10. Open the door and remove the washing.

11. Close the water feed valve.

USING THE WASHING MACHINE

VARIABLE SPIN:

Load imbalance check during spinning:

This washing machine is fi tted with a special electronic load balancing control system. Before each spin, the system makes sure that the clothes are distributed as uniformly as possible in the drum. If the washing is not distributed uniformly, the fi nal spin speed is reduced for safety reasons, while if the load is drastically out of balance, the spin is not effected.

START BUTTON:

After all the operations described in points 1 to 8 of paragraph “WASH CYCLE” have been carried out, pressing this button will start the wash cycle.

The relative indicator light will light up after approximately 2 -3 seconds to indicate that the door is locked and the wash programme has started.

PROGRAMMER KNOB “STOP”:

The stop function resets the washing machine. If, for any reason, you want to change the wash programme or add more washing to the load during the wash cycle, simply place the programmer knob in position “STOP”. The “START” led will switch off.

Then re-position the knob on the new programme and press the “START” button.

Warning!! Only use this function if strictly necessary and then only if the programme to reset has not been running for more than 3 minutes. Before opening the door after a reset, wait 2 minutes for the locking mechanism to release.

OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS

If one of the following buttons is selected, the relative led will light up. If a function button has been pressed by mistake or is no longer required, the option can be cancelled by simply repressing the button.

PRE-WASH:

Press this button to obtain a short prewash of maximum temperature 40°C and approximately 10 minutes duration. This function can only be used on the “COTTON”,

“SYNTHETICS” and “DAILY” programmes.

N.B.: When this option is used, the detergent must also be added to the appropriate pre-wash compartment.

RINSE OLD:

When this button is pushed, the washing machine will stop automatically at the end of the last rinse cycle and before draining the water. In this case, the washing is held in the water-fi lled drum to prevent creasing. This function only works for the delicate wash cycle.

EXTRA RINSE:

The washing machine has been designed to guarantee reduced water consumption.

For sensitive skins, in very soft water areas, or in the case where detergent residues are noticed at the end of the wash cycle, pressing this button will add one more rinse to the wash programme.

OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS

SPIN EXCLUSION:

When this button is pressed, the machine carries out a wash cycle and stops before spinning. The button lights up.

By turning this knob it is possible to select the length of drying, expressed in minutes, both in automatic mode (at the end of the wash cycle) and in manual mode (for hand-washed garments).

(see table “RECOMMENDED DRYING QUANTITIES AND TIMES”).

N.B.: The use of the optional functions depends on the type of programme selected. Consequently, if the wash programme does not include the function, the button cannot be enabled (see PROGRAMME TABLE”.

Drying may be continuous, at the end of the “Cotton” and “Synthetic” wash cycles, or in manual mode (if for example the garments have been hand washed), by turning the program dial to the specifi c program

“Dry”. Before selecting the manual drying function, the washing must fi rst be spun at a minimum speed of 800 rpm. For the machine to carry out drying, the time must always be selected fi rst using the relevant knob, both in automatic and in manual mode. (see table “RECOMMENDED DRYING QUANTITIES

AND TIMES”).

CONTINUOUS WASH/DRY PROGRAMME

(COTTON AND SYNTHETICS)

:

Place the washing in the drum (see table “RECOMMENDED DRYING QUANTITIES AND TIMES”).

Select the required wash program using the programmer knob. Set the required functions using the various buttons. Select the required drying time by pressing the “Time” button. Then press the Start button.

MANUAL DRY PROGRAMME:

If the washing (Cotton or Synthetics) has been hand washed outside the machine, a complete spin cycle must be carried out fi rst to eliminate excess water from the fabric.

At the end of this cycle, select the program “Dry” on the programmer knob and set the drying time using the “Time” knob (see table “RECOMMENDED DRYING QUANTITIES AND TIMES”). Press Start to

start the drying cycle.
