INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING

THIS HUMIDIFIER

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

1. Always place this humidifier on a firm, flat and level surface. This humidifier may not work properly on an uneven surface.

2. Place this humidifier in an area where it is not accessible to children.

3. Do not place the humidifier near any heat sources such as stoves, radiators, and heaters.

4. Do not use the humidifier outdoors.

5. Before using the humidifier, check the power cord for any signs of damage. If the cord is found to be damaged,

DO NOT USE and return the humidifier to the manufacturer under the warranty agreement for repair.

6. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of shock, this plug is intended to fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit securely in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.

DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.

7. To disconnect the humidifier, first turn controls to the OFF position, then grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.

8. A loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and a distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.

9. The humidifier should always be unplugged and emptied when not in operation or while being serviced or cleaned.

10. Never tilt or attempt to move the humidifier while it is operating or filled with water.

UNPLUG the humidifier before moving.

11. This humidifier requires regular cleaning.

Refer to the CLEANING instructions provided.

Never clean the humidifier in any manner other than as instructed in this manual.

12. Do not direct moisture flow directly at individuals, walls or furniture.

13. When a humidifier is used in a closed room or small rooms, check periodically for proper ventilation, as excessive humidity can cause condensation stains on walls.

14. Turn the humidifier OFF if you notice moisture on the inside of your windows.

For proper humidity reading, use a humidity monitor like Honeywell HHM10 available at retailers or www.honeywellcomfort.com.

INTRODUCTION

HOW IT WORKS

Water from the water tank flows into the reservoir. A wicking filter absorbs the water from the reservoir and becomes saturated. Dry air from the room is pulled into the humidifier through the intake grills. Moisture evaporates off the saturated wicking filter and is pushed into the room with the help of a fan.

SETTING UP YOUR HUMIDIFIER AND PLACEMENT

Remove from box. Remove packaging material. Remove and set aside this owner’s manual. Recycle box and packaging materials or save box for end of season storage

Select a firm, level location at least 6” (15cm) from any walls and furniture for proper airflow. Place the humidifier on a water resistant surface, as water can damage furniture and some flooring.

Kaz USA, Inc. will not accept responsibility for property damage caused by water spillage.

OPERATION

Remove tank and fill.

Lift off upper enclosure.

Remove filter and soak in cool water.

Replace wet filter into unit and reassemble.

Base

Fill tank with water and replace filled tank.

Make sure unit is off.

Plug into polarized 120V outlet.

Set fan speed.

CHANGING FILTER

Turn off and unplug unit.

Remove water tank.

Lift off upper enclosure.

CLEANING

WATER TANK AND WATER TRAY ARE TOP RACK DISHWASHER SAFE.

Please note we recommend washing in the TOP RACK a residential dishwashers operating at temperatures below 70°C/158°F.

It is recommended that you run the dishwasher on the light duty or normal cycle. Do not wash humidifier parts with soiled articles/dishes. DO NOT place tank cap in dishwasher.

DO NOT USE DETERGENTS. If you use your dishwasher to clean the following parts you will not need to follow the disinfecting and scaling procedure.

Please Note: Do not place parts on lower rack of dishwasher. Using the lower rack could cause damage to the humidifier parts and dishwasher.

DO NOT PUT TANK CAP, FILTER OR MAIN HOUSING IN DISHWASHER.

Cleaning base and tank cap involves two steps, SCALE REMOVAL and DISINFECTING. Be sure to perform these in the proper order to avoid harmful chemical interactions.

NOTE: REMOVE FILTER BEFORE SCALE REMOVAL OR DISINFECTING.

Failure to remove filter during cleaning will destroy the filter.

SCALE REMOVAL

Remove and discard used filter.

Soak new filter in cool water.

Do not wring or squeeze.

Place wet filter into unit.

Turn off and unplug unit.

Remove and empty water tank.

Lift off upper enclosure.

Remove Filter.

Replace upper enclosure.

Replace water tank.

Wipe base, tank cap and tank with undiluted vinegar.

Rinse thoroughly.

CLEANING continued

DISINFECTING if dishwasher is not available

Turn off and unplug unit.

Remove and empty water tank.

Lift off upper enclosure.

Fill water tank with 1 tsp bleach and 1 gallon cool water.

Wipe base with same solution.

Rinse until smell of bleach is gone.

END-OF-SEASON CARE AND STORAGE

Clean and disinfect unit.

Do not store with used filter.

Make sure unit is dry.

Pack unit in original carton.

Clean and install new filter before next use.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?

A: Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no “mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit is operating normally.

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.

A: First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture as your air is already saturated. Also verify the upper enclosure and water tank are properly seated.

Q: My filter has turned light brown and rust colored. Do I need a new filter?

A: Probably not. Since your filter has been made with Protec™ antimicrobial the change in color indicates only a mineral deposit. Soak filter in a sink full of cool water to help break up deposits.

The discoloration may remain but will not affect the humidifier’s performance.

HUMIDIFICADOR

Siempre se deben tomar las precauciones básicas cuando se usen artefactos eléctricos para reducir el riesgo de incendio, choque eléctrico y lesiones personales, incluyendo lo siguiente:

1. Siempre coloque este humidificador sobre una superficie firme, plana y nivelada.

Es posible que este humidificador no funcione debidamente sobre una superficie desnivelada.

2. Coloque este humidificador en un lugar fuera del alcance de los niños.

3. No coloque el humidificador cerca de ninguna fuente térmica como estufas, radiadores y calentadores.

4. No use el humidificador al aire libre.

5. Antes de usar el humidificador, verifique que el cordón eléctrico no tenga señales de avería.

Si considera que el cordón está estropeado,

NO LO USE y devuelva el humidificador al fabricante conforme al acuerdo de garantía para su reparación.

6. Este artefacto tiene un enchufe polarizado (una punta es más ancha que la otra). Para reducir el riesgo de choque, este enchufe ha sido diseñado para que encaje de una forma solamente en un tomacorriente polarizado. 7. Para desconectar el humidificador, primero coloque los controles en la posición apagada

INTRODUCCIÓN

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA?

El agua del tanque de agua fluye hacia el depósito. Un filtro de mecha absorbe el agua del depósito y se moja. El aire seco de la habitación es succionado hacia el humidificador a través de las rejillas de entrada. La humedad se evapora del filtro de mecha mojado y es liberada en la habitación con la ayuda de un ventilador.

PREPARACIÓN Y COLOCACIÓN DEL HUMIDIFICADOR

Sáquelo de la caja. Quite el material de empaquetado. Retire y deje a un lado este manual del usuario. Recicle la caja y los materiales de empaquetado o guarde la caja para almacenar al final de la temporada.

Seleccione una ubicación firme y plana, alejada al menos 15 cm de paredes y muebles para una circulación apropiada del aire. Coloque el humidificador sobre una superficie resistente al agua, ya que esta puede dañar sus muebles y revestimientos de suelo.

LIMPIEZA

EL TANQUE DE AGUA Y LA BANDEJA DE AGUA SE PUEDEN COLOCAR EN LA CANASTILLA

SUPERIOR DEL LAVAVAJILLAS. Por favor note que recomendamos lavar en la CANASTILLA

SUPERIOR de lavavajillas domésticos operando a temperaturas menores a los 70°C/158°F.

Es recomendable que opere el lavavajillas en el ciclo suave o normal. No lave las partes del humidificador con artículos/platos grasosos. NO coloque la tapa del tanque en el lavavajillas.

NO USE DETERGENTES. Si utiliza su lavavajillas para limpiar las siguientes partes, no necesitará seguir el procedimiento de desinfección y formación de sarro.

Por favor Note: No coloque las partes en la canastilla inferior del lavavajillas. El usar la canastilla inferior puede causar daño en las partes del humidificador y en el lavavajillas.

NO COLOQUE LA TAPA DEL TANQUE, EL FILTRO O LA CUBIERTA PRINCIPAL EN EL

LAVAVAJILLAS.

La limpieza de la base y la tapa del tanque consta de dos pasos, ELIMACIÓN DE SARRO y DESINFEC-

CIÓN. Asegúrese de realizarlas en el orden correcto para evitar interacciones dañinas de químicos.

NOTA: QUITE EL FILTRO ANTES DE REMOVER EL SARRO O DESINFECTAR.

LIMPIEZA continúa

DISINFECCIÓN si no cuenta con lavavajillas

Apague y desconecte la unidad.

Saque y vacíe el tanque de agua.

Retire el recinto superior.

Quite el filtro.

Llene el tanque de agua con una cucharadita de cloro y 1 galón de agua fresca.

Limpie la base con la misma solución.

Enjuague hasta que el olor del cloro haya desaparecido.

CUIDADO Y ALMACENAJE FUERA DE TEMPORADA

Limpie y desinfecte la unidad.

No almacene con un filtro usado.

Asegúrese de que la unidad esté seca.

Guarde la unidad en el empaque original.

Limpie e instale el nuevo filtro antes de volver a utilizarlo.

PROBLEMAS

P : Puedo oír el ventilador, pero no veo bruma alguna. ¿Mi humidificador funciona correctamente?

R : El aire seco pasa por el sistema y un ventilador silencioso dispersa aire invisible y equilibrado en humedad. El aparato no produce bruma. Cuando el humidificador funciona normalmente, simplemente notará que sale aire fresco del mismo. Observe el nivel de agua del depósito. Si desciende durante un periodo de 24 horas, el humidificador funciona normalmente.

P : El humidificador lleva varias horas funcionando. Oigo el ventilador pero no veo que baje el volumen de agua del depósito.

R : En primer lugar, compruebe que el filtro está mojado. Si le parece seco, retírelo de la base y enjuáguelo delicadamente bajo el grifo de agua fría. Vuelva a colocar el filtro mojado en la base.

También puede medir el nivel de humedad ambiente. Si sobrepasa el 60 %, es normal que el humidificador no produzca mucha humedad, el aire ambiente está de por sí saturado.

P: El filtro se ha descolorido, parece oxidado. ¿Debo cambiarlo?

R: Probablemente no. El filtro tiente un tratamiento antimicrobiano ProTec

MC

, el cambio de color indica únicamente un depósito mineral. Remójelo en un lavabo lleno de agua fría para que dichos depósitos desaparezcan. Quizás siga descolorido, pero eso no afecta al buen funcionamiento del humidificador.
