Icom IC- 2200H Transceiver Basic Operation

Icom IC- 2200H Transceiver Basic Operation
1) Connect Power Supply to radio. Turn the Power Supply ON. (If AC is not
available, use the included car battery power cable with clips, or use the cigarette lighter
adapter.)
2) Plug antenna into radio. Turn radio ON. (If the roof antenna is not available,
use the included roll-up J-Pole antenna; raise the J-Pole antenna high in a tree etc. using
the included rope. OR, use the magnetic mount whip antenna – but be sure to place it on
a metal car roof or other large metal object. Keep the whip antenna vertical.)
3) Reduce transmitter power to the lowest setting that still allows you to
communicate with other stations. This conserves your battery.
Notes:
•
Does the Memory Number not change when you spin the big dial? Don’t worry: you’re not in MEMORY MODE. To
switch to Memory mode, press the button labeled [M/CALL] until M appears. (If the [V/MHZ] button is held, SCAN will
start. Push the [V/MHZ] button to stop scanning.)
•
If the antenna is too close the Power Supply might shut down when you transmit. To fix the problem move the antenna
farther away from the power supply and then reset the supply by turning it off and back on.
•
Buttons locked? Press and hold the [(SET)/LOCK] button until the “L” disappears in the display. Repeat the process
to lock the front panel buttons.
•
Are you running on a battery? Conserve your battery by reducing your transmit power. Push the button labeled [LOW]
to select different transmit power levels: 5, 10, 25, & 55 watts.
•
This radio draws fifteen amperes in the HIGH power mode.
