Phaser 3250 Firmware Upgrade Instructions
Upgrade the Printer's Firmware Using CentreWare Internet Service (CWIS)
CAUTION: The upgrade procedure will delete any current jobs in the Print queue
and prevent further jobs from printing until the upgrade has completed. To
preserve these jobs, allow them to complete before upgrading the firmware.
The printer will be unavailable during the upgrade process. Any jobs sent to the
printer during the upgrade will be lost
The Firmware Upgrade feature provides users with the means to upgrade the printer
firmware without requiring the assistance of a Customer Service Representative. The
firmware can easily be upgraded via the network using CentreWare Internet Service
(CWIS).
NOTE: All configured network settings and installed options will be retained on the
printer after the upgrade procedure.
NOTE: This solution assumes that the correct firmware upgrade for this product has
been downloaded and extracted to a known location on the desktop or on a disk. If
necessary, click on the [Drivers & Downloads] link under the Product Resources
section of this window to download the necessary file. After the file has been
downloaded to the computer, extract the firmware upgrade file and note the directory
where the file was saved.

Check the version of the firmware currently installed in the printer before
performing the upgrade to determine if the printer requires the upgraded
firmware. The current firmware version installed in the printer can be found on
the Configuration Page. Check under the Printer Information section, in the
Firmware Version field. See the Related Items below for additional information.
Make sure the firmware upgrade file has been downloaded and extracted to a
known location on the computer. If necessary, click on the [Drivers and
Downloads] link under the Product Resources section of this window to
download the necessary file. After the file has been downloaded to the
computer, extract the firmware upgrade file and note the location where the file
was saved.
Obtain the IP address for the printer to be upgraded. This can be found on the
Configuration Page.

The System Administrator's user name and password may be required to
upgrade the firmware. Make sure to have this information prior to performing the
upgrade.
To perform the upgrade:
1.
From the computer, open an Internet browser window.
2.
Enter the IP address of the printer in the Address field, and then press [Enter] on
the keyboard. The CentreWare Internet Services window will be displayed.
3.
Click on the [Print] button.
4.
Click on the [Firmware Download] link in the Print section on the left side of the
window.
5.
Login as System Administrator to perform the remote firmware upgrade. Type
“admin” in the Username field, enter the current password in the Password field,
and then click on [OK]. The File Download window will be displayed.
NOTE: At the time the printer is installed, the default Username and Password
are blank.
6.
Click on the [Browse] button and navigate to the location on the computer where
the firmware file was downloaded and extracted.
7.
Select the file, and then press [Enter] on the keyboard.
8.
Click on the blue button directly below the Filename field to begin the file
download to the printer. A pop-up window will be displayed indicating the file
download status.
9.
When the file has been downloaded to the printer, a “Processing Upgrade”
message will be displayed. Click on the [OK] button to close the status window.
NOTE: The upgrade takes approximately five minutes to complete.
10. Print a Configuration Page from the CentreWare Internet Services window.
11. Click on the [Print Configuration Pages] link on the left side of the window.
12. Click on the [Printer Configuration Page] radio button, and then click on the blue
button. A window will be displayed to confirm that the Configuration Page printed.
13. Click [OK] to close the window.
14. Refer to the firmware version listed on the new report to verify the firmware file
has been installed properly.
15. Close the browser window.
