Introduction
This user manual is intended for super users of the PT 4000 Terminal. Super user activities relate to
two matters:
1) Instruct and support fuel customers that uses the PT 4000 for fuelling.
The user flow of the terminal is made in a way that should make it possible to use the
terminal without any instruction, but simply by following the instructions on the screen. The
role of the super user is to instruct the user in case there are problems using the terminal
and also in case the PT 4000 is to be tested for the most general functions.
2) Service personnel or other authorized personnel to read out legal parameters from the PT
4000, which is done through the Function Menu. This requires special access done via a
Function Card issued by CODAB.
This could be related to either confirming that software version running on the PT 4000 is
according to approval but also for reading out history on software versions and essential
configuration parameters.
In addition, the function menu includes a possibility of reading out transactions that has been
done on the PT 4000, where this readout represents the legal part of long-term storage of
transaction.
This user manual does not include general configuration of the PT 4000 as this is done together with
CODAB through TapNet. To use the PT 4000, the terminal must therefore be installed and configured.
This user manual is not a complete list of functions available in the terminal, but merely a detailed
description of the general user scenarios and functions available for the service technician. The
screen shots included in this manual is made in Swedish however, other languages are supported on
the PT 4000 terminal.
If any comments to this manual or specific support is required, please contact CODAB:

General
When the user arrives at the PT 4000, the welcome screen will be as below. The text in the greeting
shows the user the methods of authorizations available. PT 4000 can be set up to handle Quickfill,
cards or tags.
The user can start by selecting the language by pressing the corresponding flag on the keyboard.
Swedish is the default language and therefore used throughout this manual.
The user should then follow the instructions on the display.

Standard fuelling with Non-payment card or tag
For a standard fuelling with a Non-payment card or tag, the actions for the users are:
1. Insert the card or hold forward your tag as instructed on the welcome screen.
When the card has been read the terminal will instruct the user to take out the card and the
display will prompt the user for the PIN code.
2. Enter the PIN code on the keyboard below the display.
3. Press the green key “_” to indicate that PIN has been entered.
In case wrong PIN code has been entered, this will be indicated on the display and the user

4. After the correct PIN code has been entered, the user will continue and has to select the
pump from which the user wants to fuel. Available pumps are indicated on the display, and
the user choose pump either by pressing the pump number on the keyboard or by picking up
the nozzle for the right pump to start the fuelling (configurable in TapNet).
5. When the above picture comes up on the display, the user can go to the pump and start
fuelling. After fuelling has been started (or if no nozzle is picked up or chosen, the
authorization will then time out), the display will return to the welcome screen and another
fuelling can be initiated if any available pump.
6. Printer is optional on a PT 4000, this step is available only for a unit with a printer installed.
When the fuelling has been completed, a receipt can be obtained by pressing the key on the
keyboard and choosing the pump used from a list by pressing the pump number on the
keyboard or, by using the tag or card that the filling was charged to again in the card reader
or at the tag reader. There is a symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen indicating
that a receipt is available.

Error cases
When using the PT 4000 different scenarios can occur. However, the intention of the user dialog on
the display is always to provide information to the user to understand the context and either help
the user to get out of the situation, or provide enough information for the user to understand the
status and possibilities when using the terminal.
Other error cases exist and if these causes problems please contact Codab for support.
Error case – Wrong PIN
When the user inserts a non-payment card on the card reader or hold a tag to the tag reader, the
terminal will ask for PIN and in case wrong PIN is entered, the following screen will be shown:
After a while, the display will return to the welcome screen and the user can continue using the PT
4000 terminal.
Error case – No pumps available
When the user arrives at the terminal and no pumps are available the screen below is presented to
the user. This indicates that all pumps are busy and no fuelling can be initiated until a pump is
available.
When a pump becomes available. the display will return to the welcome screen and the user can
continue using the PT 4000 terminal.

Error case – No paper, receipt not possible
This error can be seen only at PT 4000 that has the optional printer installed. When the user arrives
at the terminal and it is not possible to get a receipt (either because of no paper in the printer or a
malfunction of the printer), then the screen below is presented. The icon in the lower right corner,
with a red cross across a receipt, indicates that the terminal cannot print a receipt.
When the printer issue has been fixed, the display will return to the standard welcome screen and
the user can again get receipts from the PT 4000 terminal.
If the user still chooses to insert a payment card the PT 4000 will ask the user to confirm that fuelling
shall be done without getting a receipt as indicated on the screen.

Function menu
For a super user to get access to system menu on the PT 4000 it is required to have a special
“Function Card”. When the “Function Card” is inserted in the terminal from the welcome screen, the
following picture will be presented on the display and the terminal will provide access to special
functions
The screen now shows different functions that can be accessed and if the super user presses the
“Tillbaka” button, the terminal will go back to the previous screen, which in this case is the welcome
screen. The function of the “Tillbaka” buttom is general for all the sub-menus in the Function menu.
The functions behind the different buttons is self-explanatory and therefore not described in details
in the manual.
