5.2. Limitation
5.2.1. Limitation for Wake up by USB keyboard / mouse from S3
By default, OS can go to S3 (standby) mode and can wake up by using USB keyboard and
mouse. However, there is some restriction for wake-up by USB keyboard and mouse from S3 in
Windows Xp, WEPOS, and POSReady2009.
In order to enable wake-up by USB keyboard and mouse from S3, additional registry key setting
is required. For more details, please refer to the following Microsoft web page.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841858/en
Registry key setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb
"USBBIOSx"=DWORD:00000000
Aside from registry setting, the following setting also required to enable wake-up by USB
keyboard and mouse from S1/S3.
·
USB Keyboard setting:
o Go to Control Panel->System->Device Maneger->Keyboard -> HID Keyboard
Device->Power Management
o Select “Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby” option.
·
USB mouse setting:
o Control Panel->System->Device Maneger->Keyboard -> HID compliant
mouse->Power Management
o Select “Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby” option.

5.2.2. Extended display mode in POSReady 2009
For POSReady2009 with Intel Graphic Driver is installed, BSOD (blue screen error) will happen
if user want to change from "Extended Desktop" mode to other mode for example "Single
Display", "Twin" or "Dual Display Clone" mode,
This is due to the restriction of POSReady2009, please refer to the following web page for more
details.
(Microsoft HP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959252)
To prevent this problem, user needs to download and install the patch from above Microsoft link.
 Download the patch file ” WindowsXP-KB959252-v2-x86-ENU.exe” for Windows XP, x86
edition, and install to the machine.
After installing the patch, the Extended display mode can be displayed and changed to other
mode correctly.
