Eos Family Client Kit
The Eos™ Family client software can be installed on a personal computer and used to edit Eos
Family show files. When used in conjunction with the client dongle, the computer can also be used
as a client on the Eos Family network.
The client kit contains the following:
• Eos Family client dongle (ETC Part # M7174-3)
• This quick guide
Co mputer Recommendations
It is recommended that your computer have at least the following:
• Windows
• Processor with clock frequency higher than 2.0 GHz
• Windows XP system (SP2 is not required) with 80 MB free disk space
• DVI/SVGA screen resolution of 1280x1024
• 512 MB of RAM minimum (1 GB recommended)
• 64 MB Video Card
• Network adapter (required to communicate with an Eos network)
• Macintosh
• OS version 10.3.9 or later
• Resolution of 1024x768 or higher
• Intel or Power PC

Software Installation
Note:
You may be required to restart your computer after installing the offline software.
Save any open files and close any applications before beginning installation.
To install the Eos Family offline software on Windows

Download the software from the ETC website, http://www.etcconnect.com/
product.downloads.aspx?ID=2027.
Navigate to the offline software, Eos Family Offline/Client Software v.X.X.X for PC.
Click on the file name.
You will be prompted to give your first and last name and email address. Click
“Submit”.
Click on the file name. You will be prompted to either open or save the file.
Click “Save” and choose the destination for the zip file. Once it has saved, you will
need to unzip the file.
Navigate to the ETC_EosFamily_Offline_v...exe and double click on it. Run the
program.
This will open the InstallShield wizard for the software.

Click “Next” and follow the instructions of the installer.
If a restart is required, restart your computer.

Eos Family Client Kit
An icon will appear on the desktop “Launch Eos Family” or you may navigate to My
Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files>ETC>Eos>ETC_LaunchOffline.exe. Use
either of these to launch the software.
In addition, a shortcut to a folder labeled “Eos Family Documents” will also appear on the
desktop. This folder contains documents indicating the keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) for
Eos Family commands. Shortcuts facilitate use of the offline software.
Note:
Eos Family v1.9 Client and Offline software no longer requires the use of the Scroll
Lock key to access Hot Keys on an alphanumeric keyboard.
To install the Eos Family offline software on Macintosh
Note:
It is recommended that you run the installer from your desktop and not off a USB
memory device.

Navigate to the off-line software, Eos Family Off-line/Client Software v.X.X.X for
Mac. Click on the file name.

Click “Continue” and follow the instructions of the installer.
If a restart is required, restart your computer.
You may navigate to Applications>Eos Family Welcome Screen to launch the Eos
Configuration Utility.
In addition, a folder labeled “Eos Family Documents” will be installed. This folder contains
documents indicating the keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) for Eos Family commands. This will
enable use of the offline software. The folder is located at Documents>ETC>Eos.
Note:
A Mac client will not support any external ETC USB devices, such as fader wings
and the RFR. A Mac client will support the use of the iRFR.
Co nnecting to an Eo s Family Network
There are some additional steps for connecting to an Eos Family network.

Follow the steps for installing the Eos Family offline software.
Change the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway of the PC to match the Eos Family
system IP address scheme. It is recommended that you use the IP address of
10.101.1.101, subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, and gateway of 10.101.0.1.

For Windows Vista, these additional steps are needed:
Step 3: Go to Control Panel>User Accounts>Turn User Account Control On or Off
Step 4: Uncheck “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” and
then click “Ok”.
Step 5: Reboot your computer.
Note:
Windows 7 is not currently fully supported. Please see http://
www.etcconnect.com/support.aspx for updated information as it becomes
available.
Client USB Dong le
To run the Eos Family software as a client to the console you must have an Eos Family client
dongle, provided in the Eos Family Client Software Kit. The software will run as an offline editor or
in mirror mode when the dongle is not present.
To use the software as a client, insert the dongle into an open USB port on your computer. You must
also connect your computer to the Eos Family network using your computer’s ethernet port.
Note:
Clients connected to Element consoles will only operate in Mirror Mode.
Fader Wing Dr ivers
The offline software installers now include the drivers for ETC USB devices (such as fader wings).
When you first connect a USB device to your Windows® XP or Vista® PC, the “Found New
Hardware” wizard will appear and prompt you to install the drivers. Select the appropriate option
based on your operating system (see below).
XP - Select the “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” option. This should
appear in the second screen of the XP “Found New Hardware” wizard.
Vista - Select the “Locate and install driver software (Recommended)” option. This should
be the first screen of the Vista “Found New Hardware” wizard.
After completing the wizard procedure, the USB device should be operational with your PC.
