1. Getting started

WARNING

Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid areas.

Location

When choosing a location for your new phone, here are some important guidelines you should consider:

• Avoid sources of noise and heat, such as motors, fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens, heating appliances and direct sunlight.

• Avoid areas of excessive dust, moisture and low temperature.

• Avoid other cordless telephones or personal computers.

• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

• Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.

• Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.

• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.

HANDSET RANGE

Optimal range is reached when there are no other electrical appliances working within the range area. Any obstruction between the base and handset will also reduce the range significantly.

If you are on a call, the line will hang up. Move back within in range. The handset will automatically re-connect to the base.

Setting up

IMPORTANT

The base must be plugged into the electrical outlet at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into the wall jack until the handset is fully charged. Only use the power adapter and telephone line cord supplied with the product.

WHICH POWER ADAPTER

The power adapter with the smaller pin is for the base unit and the power adapter with the bigger pin is for the charger unit (for multi-pack only).

Getting started

1. Plug the power adapter with smaller pin plug & telephone line cord into the base. Power adapter with bigger pin plug is for charger (for multi-pack only).

2. Plug the other end of the power adapter & telephone line cord into the wall jack.

3. Always use the telephone line cord provided in the box.

4. Use only the provided power adapter.

Getting started

1. Slide out the battery compartment cover.

2. Place the supplied rechargeable battery pack in the battery compartment, with the battery connector plugged in, as shown.

3. Slide the battery compartment cover back.

4. Put the handset on the base to charge for at least 24 hours. When the handset is fully charged the will indicate that it is fully charged.

5. Use only the rechargeable battery pack provided.

BATTERY LOW WARNING

If the flashes in the display, you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again. During charging, the will scroll in the display.

BATTERY PERFORMANCE

In ideal conditions, a fully charged battery pack should give up to 12 hours talk time and up to 180 hours standby time on a single charge.

Note that new battery packs do not reach full capacity until they have been in normal use for several days.

To keep your battery packs in the best condition, leave the handset off the base for a few hours at a time.

Running the battery packs all the way down at least once a week will help them last as long as possible.

The charge capacity of rechargeable battery packs will reduce with time as they wear out, giving the handset less talk/standby time. Eventually they will need to be replaced.

After charging your handset for the first time, subsequent charging time is about 6-8 hours a day. The battery pack and handset may become warm during charging. This is normal.

In idle/pre-dial/number editing mode/during a call: press to insert a "#", press and hold to insert a pause.

In name editing mode: toggle ABC/Abc/abc.

In calls list entry: press to toggle the Caller ID display format between 7, 8, 10 and 11 digits.

In idle mode/during a call: press to initiate an intercom call.

WARNING

When the phone is ringing, avoid holding the earpiece too close to your ear as it may damage your hearing. Handsfree activation can suddenly increase the volume in the earpiece to a very high level. Make sure the handset is not too close to your ear.

TIPS

If Auto Talk mode (see Section 6.7 for more details) is on,

simply lift up the handset from its base to answer the call.

The default setting is Off.

NOTE

An incoming call has priority over other events. Whenever there is an incoming call, other operations in progress such as phone settings, menu navigation, etc. will be ended.

3.1.10 Audio boost feature

The audio boost feature allows you to amplify the handset earpiece volume to compensate for the ear's limited sensitivity.

1. To turn on the audio boost feature, press at any time during a call. The handset top indicator illuminates.

2. When the audio boost feature is activated, press

to increase or decrease the earpiece volume within the specific frequency range set in

Equalizer. See section “6.3 Equalizer” for more details.

3. To turn off the audio boost feature and return the earpiece volume back to normal, press and the handset top indicator light turns off.

Calls List

The calls list contains details of missed and received calls.

Details include the date and time of the call. Entries are displayed in chronological order with the most recent call at the top of the list.

NOTE

• When the calls list is full, a new call replaces the oldest in the list.

• The received and missed calls log holds details of up to

30 calls.

• If you receive more than one call from the same number, only the most recent call is kept in the calls list. When you have missed calls (incoming calls that you haven't answered) the icon will be displayed in the display on all handsets registered to the base. If one handset is used to view the calls log, the icon on the other handsets remains on (For multi-pack use only).

Providing you have subscribed to your network's Caller ID service, the date and time is set automatically for all handsets every time a call is received, but you may still need to set the correct year. If you do not have a Caller ID service you can set the date and time manually.

Article 68 de la FCC et exigences de l'ACTA

Cet appareil est conforme à l'article 68 de la réglementation de la Commission fédérale des communications 'FCC' aux États-

Le numéro 'REN' sert à déterminer combien de dispositifs téléphoniques peuvent être raccordés à votre ligne téléphonique sans perdre leur capacité de sonner lorsqu'on vous appelle. Le numéro 'REN' de cet appareil est encodé entre le 6e et le 7e caractère après "US:" dans l'identification de l'appareil (par exemple, si les numéros sont 03, le REN sera 3.0). Dans la plupart, mais pas toutes les régions, la somme de tous les numéros 'REN' devrait être de cinq (5.0) ou moins. Si cet appareil nuit au réseau téléphonique, la compagnie de téléphone peut décider d'arrêter temporairement votre service téléphonique. Par contre, elle est tenue de vous avertir lorsque de tels changements sont prévus.
