Case study:
Hans Aarts, General Practitioner in the Netherlands:
“The Dino-Lite Dermascope makes better and clearer skin pictures than any standard digital camera with macro button can provide. My
Dino-Lite Earscope provides beautiful images of the inside of the ear, I use it to inspect my patient’s tympanic membranes. I can even
inspect my own eardrum by means of the Earscope.
Because the Dino-Lite microscopes are directly connected to the USB port of my PC, the pictures can immediately be checked on a
large screen and shared with my patients, batteries are never dead, the light is always good. As the Dino-Lite microscopes are connected to my PC, I can store and share
images easily and quickly. Pictures made
with Dino-Lite can be stored in the Electronic Patient File simply by means of 3
mouse clicks. I can easily add pictures to
my ‘library’ of skin affections.
I will use DermaScope for TeleConsulting
with specialist Dermatologists. In Baarn’s
Meander Hospital there is a special
policlinic for “suspect skin spots”, where
the dermatologist can take a biopsy
right on the first appointment, if alerted
by the patient’s general practitioner. A
picture says more than many words; the
emergency of a patient’s case can be
judged very quickly. I am very fond of
visualization.”
Case study:
Dr. Versteeg, eye surgeon in the Netherlands:
“Since April 2007, eye clinic EyeQVision has been offering her patients the possibility to let the post-operation checkups no longer take place in the clinic
in Amstelveen, but with the help of the Dino-Lite
USB microscope over the Internet.
The patient doesn’t have to sit for hours in a train or
car to get checked 3 or 4 times after the operation,
but connects the Dino-Lite USB microscope to his
computer and uses MSN or Skype for communication with the oculist in Amstelveen. Also, sending a
number of images is sufficient for a good checkup.
According to Dr. Versteeg, Dino-Lite is a solution for
many people. “Normally, a patient will let himself
drive by a family member from somewhere in the Netherlands to Amstelveen for a five minute checkup. Generally, this is accompanied by traffic jams and time in the waiting rooms, not to mention the high costs. With the Dino-Lite USB microscope a patient can be
checked just at home at his computer. No wonder that many of our patients chose to buy or rent a Dino-Lite microscope.”

Dino-Lite is a series of compact, hand held
microscopes with a lot of new possibilities compared to traditional microscopes.
Dino-Lite can be connected to a computer
by simply connecting to the USB port.
Dino-Lite allows you to record moving and
still images as well as time lapsed recording. The images are displayed on the computer screen so both doctor and patient
can see them if necessary. The images
can be shared directly over the internet
(webcam technology) for e.g. TeleConsulting with a medical specialist, stored in
electronic patient files or printed.
Dino-Lite comes in different versions, developed for specific
applications. Depending to the version, magnification ranges from 10 to 200 to 500x. LED lights are built in in white,
polarized, ultraviolet, infrared or a switchable combination.
Most versions have calibration and measuring options. Its
housing is either plastic or Aluminum alloy.
DinoCapture software which comes together
with the Dino-Lite microscopes
