General Description
Clair Brothers USLP218 is a new double 18”
subwoofer specifically designed to fit into
height-limited applications. At a mere 18”
maximum height, the USLP218 cabinet installs
easily below low stages. Typical double 18”
subwoofers range from 4.5” to 7” taller.
While USLP218 features a unique physical
orientation, it retains Clair Bros. highperformance acoustical profile. Slanting the
woofer orientation slightly downward [see
typical configuration on next page] produces
an efficiency gain of approximately +2.5dB
(when compared with pointing upward, as
seen above) on account of the boundary
interaction with the floor.
In ‘landscape mode’ (18” height), USLP218
has been designed to fit in tight quarters,
however it may also be creatively applied in
powerful subwoofer arrays in ‘portrait mode’
(rotated orientation to 18” width). Some
of these array configuration options offer
unprecedented benefits due to the unique
geometry of this cabinet. One of the most
interesting is a cardiod configuration which
requires absolutely no digital signal processing
to achieve a cardiod pattern.

ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER SPECIFICATIONS
The loudspeaker shall be a subwoofer system containing a total of two 18” drivers.
Power handing capacity shall be 1400 watts RMS nominal and 2800 watts RMS peak.
The low frequency drivers each shall be 18” diameter capable of handling 700 watts

of pink noise with a 6 dB crest factor for 8 hours (as per EIA RS-426-A standard). The
passband frequency range shall be at minimum 28–180Hz with -10dB at 20Hz. Each of two 18” transducers shall have a 4” diameter
edge-wound copper ribbon voice coil with a well-vented magnet structure. The motor assmebly shall have high thermal capacity and
low thermal power compression characteristics. The enclosure shall be constructed of 18mm, 13-ply Baltic birch and be covered with a
durable polyurea coating. The cabinet bracing shall be that of a gusset design providing uniform panel rigidity. The cabinet shall include
(4) four suspension/anchor points. Dimensions shall be 18.0” high, 46.0” wide, and 36.0” deep. The system weight shall be 221 lbs
(100.2kg). The loudspeaker system shall be the Clair Brothers USLP218 speaker.
