Laser Radiation
Optical fibers transmit laser radiation of sufficient magnitude to cause injury
to personnel and caution must be exercised to avoid exposure. This caution
applies to any point in the system where the laser signal can be “accessed”
(for example, at the bare fiber ends).
A caution label is provided and should be placed somewhere visible on the
cabinet.

1. Installation Preparation
1.1 Unscrew, and remove the door.
Remove stored parts from inside the cabinet.

1.2 Install the Universal Mount Adapters
Select one of four configurations and install adapters on both sides of the cabinet.

2. Installing the Cabinet
2.1 Rack Mount Installation.
Install the Cabinet using the four (4), 10-32 or 12-24, screws provided.

2.2 Alternative Wall Mount Installation (not shown)
Install the Cabinet using the four (4) wood screws #12 x 1 ¼" long (not supplied)
through the keyholes at the back of the cabinet.

3. Cable Preparation
3.1 Distribution Cable
a. Measure and mark cable at 86 in. ( 220 cm)
from the end of the cable.
b. Remove outer sheath, kevlar, and filler
tubes up to mark.
c. Cut central strength member at about 6 in. (15 cm)
form end of outer sheath.
d. Mark sub-units with electrical tape at 40 in. (100 cm)
from the end of the cable.

3.2 Campus / Loose tube Cable
a. For armored cables, install the optional
Ground Kit (AX101099) at 91 in. ( 230 cm)
from the end of the cable as per instruction
provided with the ground kit.
b. Remove outer sheath, kevlar, filler tubes, and
water blocking tape at 86 in. ( 220 cm) from the
end of the cable.
c. Cut central strength member at about 6 in. (15 cm)
form end of outer sheath.
d. Install the optional Flex Kit (AX104002) using 46"
(117 cm) of flex tubes as per instruction provided
with the flex kit.
e. Mark flex tubes with electrical tape at 1 in. (2.5 cm)
from the end of each flex tube.

4. Installation & Splicing
4.1 Securing the Cables
a. Install protective grommets around cable entry openings. Secure cables with ty-wraps.
b. Optionally, secure the central strength member with screw and washer (not provided) as show.
4.2 Splice preparation
a. Remove sheath and kevlar from each sub-unit of the
Distribution cable at 1" (2.5 cm) from the electrical tape mark.
b. Remove tubes to expose the coated fibers from the Loose Tube
cable at 1" (2.5 cm) from the end of the flex tubes.
c. Using alcohol and talk powder, meticulously clean and remove
all traces of water blocking gel from the coated fibers.
d. Identify fibers then Secure the Sub-units and the Flex tubes to the
splice tray using Ty-wraps over the electrical tape marks.

4.3 Splicing
a. Splice fibers one by one and load into splice tray.
b. Install cover then place completed tray into Splice
Tray Caddy as shown.
c. Continue splicing fibers in second tray.
Note: - Splice Tray Caddies can hold up to three (3) splice trays each.
- Two (2) caddies can be stacked in each cabinet.
d. Finish splicing the remaining fibers. Install cover
then place completed tray into Splice Tray Caddy
as shown.
e. Use a velcro strap to optionally secure the splice tray
caddy (not supplied).
f. Carefully route fibers as shown and then place
Splice Tray Caddy into the cabinet.

6.1 Remove knock-out on Cabinet Door and install Optional door lock.
