Determining Database Disk Space Requirements:
Database disk requirements vary depending on the number of enabled metrics, the level of event activity, and the duration of
historical data stored. For each enabled metric, OPNET recommends reserving 3MB of disk space to store a month of historical
data. The following table shows required disk space (in GB) for various combinations. (Note: By default AppInternals Xpert is
configured to store 3 months of historical data).

Determining Database I/O System Requirements
Large AppInternals Xpert Console space requirements impose additional requirements on the database server due to the magnitude
of I/O traffic generated writing metric data to disk. The following chart gives guidelines for choosing how to organize storage
systems. These recommendations are based on the I/O Capabilities of standard SATA 3Gb/s magnetic drives.

The AppInternals Xpert Console (SMP) will not operate on systems with the Intel Itanium processor.
AppInternals Xpert performance will improve with more available memory as the total number of collected metrics increases.
Database performance will improve with better storage options, or by placing index and data files on different disks

Enabling more metrics will cause the Collector DSA to use additional CPU and memory resources..
NOTE: These guidelines are based on tested maximums using available lab system configurations. Larger SMP and Database systems, in terms of processors,
RAM, disk drives and space, may be able to support larger numbers of enabled metrics and additional Managed Nodes.
User Authentication

LDAP
Client Systems: Supported Browsers

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 (with SP1 update) or later
Mozilla Firefox 4.0 or later
The AppInternals Xpert desktop console requires Version 1.6 or later of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
Note: You must allow popups from the SMP host system for AppInternals Xpert to be able to display its online help and other notification windows.

Transaction Data
A minimum of 4GB of free disk space is needed to store transaction data. More space allows you to index and archive more
transactions for long-term storage. This varies, depending on transaction rate and size of transactions in terms of number of method
calls.
NOTES:
1
The AppInternals Xpert Transaction Trace Warehouse performance will improve with more available memory as the number of instrumented servers and/or
transaction rate increases.
2
The AppInternals Xpert Transaction Trace Warehouse will not operate on systems with the Intel Itanium processor.
User Authentication
Supports the following methods of user authentication and management: Local, RADIUS, TACACS+, Microsoft Active Directory,
LDAP
Client Systems: Supported Browsers
The Transaction Trace Warehouse user interface supports the following browsers:
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7, 8, 9
Mozilla Firefox version 4.0 or later
Google Chrome

Free Disk Space: 160 MB or more (an additional 100-500 MB is recommended on machines where there is a need to accommodate
trace files and heap snapshots). If performing continuous transaction tracing, allow an additional 200-600MB, depending on your
transaction rate and number of JVMs or CLRs being instrumented on the server.
