New 26.2-Megapixel Full-Frame Sensor and DIGIC 7 Supporting Standard ISO Speed Up to ISO 40000 EOS 6D Mark II features a newly developed 26.2-megapixel Canon full-frame CMOS sensor that utilizes new finer manufacturing process and circuitry design to bring higher image quality, dynamic range and ISO sensitivity. Coupled with the latest DIGIC 7 digital image processor, images are rendered with the finest details in rich tones at the highest level of precision. Thanks to the outstanding image processing system, a wide standard ISO range of ISO 100-40000 (expandable to ISO 50 (L), ISO 51200 (H1) and ISO 102400 (H2)) that comparable to flagship models is supported to facilitate shooting in low-light environment and various in- and outdoor travel scenes. In-camera "Distortion Correction" and "Diffraction Correction" are also newly added to correct lens distortion. With correction data for all supported lens already incorporated2 in the camera, excellent images can be achieved right from the camera. In addition, EOS 6D Mark II adopts a 7,560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with 63zone metering. By detecting Red (R), Green (G), Blue (B) and near-infrared light (NIR) information, more consistent metering result can be achieved. The RGB and NIR information from the metering sensor also enables the "EOS Scene Detection System" to achieve more accurate Auto Exposure, Auto Lighting Optimizer and Auto White Balance results. To facilitate easy creation of high-quality creative images, EOS 6D Mark II offers a range of useful features to choose from. These include a “Fine Detail” Picture Style that emphasizes fine edges and material textures, new selectable Auto (Ambience Priority) and Auto (White Priority) settings under Auto White Balance and up to 12 SCN Special Scene modes including the new “Panning” and “Group Photo” modes. Two Advanced AF Systems to Accommodate Different Scenes and Subjects EOS 6D Mark II incorporates two advanced AF systems to realize fast and accurate AF performance for both optical viewfinder and Live View shooting – with the former favorable for capturing fast action and the latter good for users requiring versatile framing and instant preview. When shooting with optical viewfinder, the camera’s renowned 45-point3 all cross-type AF system brings expanded AF coverage and precision by featuring a f/2.8 compatible high precision dual-cross center AF point that supports low-light conditions down to EV -34. When shooting with extender making the lens’ maximum aperture stopped down to f/8, it still provides a maximum of 27 AF points3, in which 9 of them3 are cross-type AF points, bringing greater flexibility in tele-photography. Five AF Area Selection modes including "Large Zone AF" are available to accommodate different subjects and scenes, and high-precision AF tracking is ensured with the adoption of AI Servo AF II algorithm, various AF custom functions and “Color Tone Detection AF”5 powered by the 7,560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor which supports priority focusing to skin tone detected under One Shot AF as well as Color Tracking AF during AI SERVO AF. Furthermore, EOS 6D Mark II supports 6.5 FPS high-speed continuous shooting and 3.0 FPS low-speed continuous shooting to facilitate capture of the best moment. For better image quality, a new Mirror Vibration Control System (MVCS) is featured to suppress negative effects on image quality due to mirror motion, while an Anti-Flicker Shooting function ensures more consistent exposure and color when shooting under flickering light source such as fluorescent light. When shooting in Live View mode, the camera’s ”Dual Pixel CMOS AF” (DAF) technology that supports AF operation at low-light conditions down to EV-2.5 can ensure fast and accurate AF. Easy and intuitive shooting operation can be enjoyed simply by touching the vari-angle LCD monitor to focus and shoot. DAF supports 3 types of AF modes, including [Face + Tracking] useful for portraits, [Live 1-Point AF] that sets a single focal position and [Smooth Zone AF] for selecting AF points across a wide area. With DAF available throughout 80% of the frame area in horizontal and vertical directions, moving subjects of different topics and at any position in the frame can be captured as desired. A maximum continuous shooting speed of 4 FPS with SERVO AF function is supported in Live View mode, bringing enhanced operability when dealing with moving subjects. Built-in Wi-Fi / NFC / Bluetooth and GPS for Convenient Remote Shooting, Sharing and Record of Locations EOS 6D Mark II offers multiple wireless connection options to facilitate remote shooting as well as easy image sharing on the road. A built-in IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and NFC function are available for easy connection to smart device, Connect Station CS100, EOS Utility etc. With “Camera Connect” application, remote Live View shooting and movie shooting from smart device are possible, while images or MP4 movies can also be viewed and saved to the device. With NFC chip embedded on the side of the camera, NFC connection is possible even when Battery Grip BG-E21 is attached. Furthermore, the newly supported Bluetooth® low energy technology can sustain connection between the camera and compatible smart devices6 over a long period at low power consumption. Easy switching from Bluetooth constant connection to Wi-Fi connection is supported to perform various wireless remote functions such as shooting, image viewing and transfer. Bluetooth® low energy technology also supports the use of Wireless Remote Controller BR-E1 for remote shooting from any direction within 5m from the camera7. In addition, an improved GPS receiver is included for geotagging images. It supports 3 satellite systems including America GPS, Russia GLONASS and Japan QZSS for enhanced positioning accuracy and GPS logger function to allow easy record of shooting routes, which is especially useful when shooting abroad or in the field. Two GPS settings are now available for selection, with “Mode 1” keeping the camera to receive GPS signals continuously and “Mode 2” turning on/off the GPS function together with the camera, providing users with the options to choose from according to needs for higher energy efficiency. Reliable Operability Inherited from Professional EOS Models for Outdoor Shooting with Confidence EOS 6D Mark II is designed to provide superior and reliable operation under various shooting environments. A bright optical viewfinder with approximately 98% coverage and 0.71x magnification is equipped, supporting “Intelligent Viewfinder II” with ondemand dual-axis electronic level, gridline, aspect ratio and various shooting function display such as white balance, drive mode, AF operation and metering mode so that users can concentrate on the viewfinder for shooting and composition. The built-in dual-axis electronic level which can be shown on the viewfinder or LCD monitor can facilitate horizontal leveling to guarantee perfect composition for architectural and landscape shots. Other built-in functions also include "Interval Timer" and "Bulb Timer" for time-lapse and long exposure shooting, “Silent Single Shooting” and “Silent Continuous Shooting” at 3 FPS for shooting in quiet environment.
