Issue
An issue has been found which affects all Intellex Ultra Non-Raid models with BIOS revision 0045.
The primary symptoms are:

The Drive Numbers for Disks displayed in the Windows Disk Manager do not match the physical
hard drive positions in the front drive bay.

In addition the hard drive ordering is not sequential.
Therefore care must be taken to identify the correct drive when performing the following operations:

Recovery Disk operations on the system Flash Drive (C:)

Recovery of the E:/F: Drives

Replacement of any of the other data hard drives.
This document shows how to correctly identify a failed drive and must be used prior to any recovery or
drive replacement operation.
For information on how to recover a replaced hard drive refer to TB-00208-00-100609 - Update to Ultra

Solution
Use the information contained within this Technical Bulletin to rectify the contrast between the physical
hard drive layout and the Windows logical drive for Intellex Ultra when swapping out hard drives.
NOTE:
These procedures should only be performed by technical support or by qualified personnel.

Depending on your Intellex Ultra configuration, refer to the following to determine which procedure is
required to correctly identify the hard drive to remove from the Intellex Ultra unit:

Procedure 1: Flash Drive (C) with a Single Hard Drive

Procedure 2: Flash Drive (C) with Two Hard Drives

Procedure 3: Flash Drive (C) with Three Hard Drives

Procedure 4: Flash Drive (C) with Four Hard Drives
PROCEDURE 1: FLASH DRIVE (C) WITH A SINGLE HARD DRIVE
Follow this procedure to change a hard drive if you are using an Intellex Ultra with a flash drive and a
single hard drive. Figure 1 illustrates the physical drive layout in the Intellex unit, with Figure 1.1
illustrating what is seen in Windows Disk Manager.
Figure 1.2 displays the Windows Disk Manager. In this situation the drive order displayed in the Windows
Disk Manager is the same as the drives physical layout. Refer to Table 1 for further information.
