The AN300 is a circular polarised patch antenna that, when connected a Wavetrend reader, offers superior control over
where Wavetrend tags can be detected by the reader. The AN350 offers extended read range capabilities for ultra longrange applications. Circular polarisation ensures that tag signals are detected at a similar signal strength level (RSSI)
irrespective of the orientation of the tags relative to the antenna. The antenna offers extended range in front of it and
reduced range behind it, assisting the user to create a tag detection zone around the reader that minimises the chance of
detecting tags in undesired location*.
Typical Applications
The AN300 is designed for use in access control, security, Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), parking control systems
and transport and logistics operations that all make use of Wavetrend active RFID tags and readers. The antenna’s
reception characteristics make it ideal for use in reader locations where omni-directional antennas providing equal read
range in all directions is unsuitable for the active RFID system’s function and proper operation. Typical locations requiring
the use of this antenna include site or parking lot entrances that employ active RFID access control and require detection of
tags in front of the antenna but not behind, active RFID RTLS systems installed in multi-story buildings where detection of
tags on the floor above is undesired, and outdoor locations where ultra long range tag detection is required in a particular
direction.

The AN350 patch antenna is typically used for
its unique directional properties. Its reception
field is of a hemispheric nature.
Helps minimise the chance of detecting unwanted tag signals from
behind the antenna. Not every reader location requires equal read
range in every direction, in some cases this will compromise the
active RFID system’s ability to perform as desired.
Can be mounted on a flat surface (mounting
plate included)
If mounted using a customer supplied adjustable bracket the antenna
can be orientated to best meet the system’s tag detection zone
requirements
The antenna can be mounted inside a dry wall
construction, above non-metal ceilings, behind
wood paneling, glass or other non-RF shielding
materials. The antenna can be painted with
non-metallic paint.
Allows for antenna to be discreetly mounted in the location required to
allow for desired tag detection and not be overtly visible.
Robust construction to allow for outdoor use
If required, the antenna can be used outdoors without additional
protection required.

The AN300 can be used with both LSeries and W-Series models of

Wavetrend RX201, RX900 and RX1000
readers.
It is strongly recommended that the
services of a properly trained engineer
from a Wavetrend Accredited Partner or
Wavetrend Professional Services are
employed to determine the best location
for the reader and the best antenna to be
used to achieve the desired read range .
*Read ranges are affected by environmental
conditions and site configurations and may not match
those stated in this sheet. Read ranges will generally
be greater outdoors than indoors.
