Setting up an isolated network using an
Apple® Airport Express® Base Station
1 Obtain an Apple® AirPort Express®
a. AirPort Express includes:
i. Setup Guide
ii. Base Station
iii. Power Cord
2 Setting up the station
a. Plug the power cord into the base station
(Figure 1).

b. Connect an Ethernet cable (not provided with AirPort Express) between the
base station and the C-DiGit Blot Scanner, as shown (blue cord in Figure 2).
It should be plugged into the Ethernet port marked with the < • • • > symbol.

3 Setting up the network
a. On a Mac iOS® device (iPhone®, iPad® or iPod®), go to Settings/Wi-Fi. Underneath the list of networks you will see “Set up an AirPort Base Station…”
i. Click on AirPort Express (Figure 3).

b. After initial setup, you will see an
AirPort Setup dialog.
i. Click on Create a New Network
(Recommended) (Figure 4).

1. This will create a mini-isolated network between your Mac iOS
devices and your C-DiGit Blot Scanner.

ii. Provide a network name for your network
(Figure 5).
iii. Provide a password for your network, and
verify the password (Figure 5). Password
must be at least 8 characters.
iv. Click Next.
v. If you want your device to remember the
password for the network, click Save
(Figure 6).
vi. If you want to connect your network to
the Internet, you will need to consult
with your IT department1. These
instructions are intended to set up
an isolated network only.

Additional configurations of the Airport Express may be configured by your IT group. They can
download the AirPort utility from ITunes® to assist in this.

vii. Click Next (Figure 7).

viii. Click Continue Anyway when
prompted about No Internet
Connectivity (Figure 8).

When the Setup Complete window
appears, click Done (Figure 9).

On your Mac iOS device,
go to Settings/Wi-Fi and
choose your newlycreated network from
the list (Figure 10).

4 Acquiring an image
a. Download the Image Studio Mobile Acquisition App from iTunes®.
i. You are ready to acquire an image!
NOTE: If, after starting the Image Studio Mobile Acquisition App the software cannot find your C-DiGit Blot Scanner, turn the C-DiGit Scanner off
and then restart.
