Cable Laying Equipment
- Introduction:
CCC U/E has a wide range of fleet, starting from underwater
hydraulic-driven tools and ending up with DP Dive support vessels. As
offshore cable laying is one of CCC U/E lines of business, Cable Laying
equipment were designed and built to suit our clients varied sizes of
cables.
- Cable Laying Fleet:
During the operation of cable laying from DP vessels to the
seabed, different configuration can arranged to do the job, so CCC U/E
has added to its fleet the following to cover the whole operation of cable
handling and laying :
- 4 Pair Linear Cable Engine (Hydraulically Operated).
- 2 Pair Linear Cable Engine (Hydraulically Operated).
- Cable Powered Sheave (Hydraulically Operated).
- 8 m Dia Cable Tank
- 6 m Dia Cable Tank
- 37 Kw Hydraulic Power Unit
- Cable Bend Restrictor, Semicircle (Half Moon)
- Cable Bend Restrictor , Quadrant (Quarter Moon)
- Assorted rollers stands and chutes
- Linear Cable Engines:
CCC U/E Linear Cable Engines (LCE) are of a modular
construction assembled in sections of wheelpair assemblies, 4 Pair and 2
Pair. They are designed as bi-directional systems for both laying and
recovering for repair operations, whilst posing minimum risk to the cable.
Each individual module is controlled by fully synchronising speed,
wheel-opening and pressure/squeeze onto the cables. At very low cable
tension in shallow waters the system can be controlled to reduce the drive
units torque, reducing the risk of cable slip.

Typical combinations of 2, 4 or 6 wheelpairs can be arranged
depending on required pulling force, available deck space or requirements
of specific cable types.
Linear Cable Engines (LCE) main features :
Modular construction allowing flexible capacity (2, 4 or 6 wheelpairs)
• Controlled Tension up to 5 Ton
• Accommodate varying cable diameters up to 9”
• Fully variable speed and tension control up to 1130 m/hr

4 Wheelpair Linear Cable Engine (LCE)
- Cable Powered Sheave:
Cable Powered Sheave (CPS) is designed and construction to assist
and ensure safe handling, transporting and laying of marine cable. As the
sheave has a diameter of 2500 mm, it covers a wide range of minimum
radius of different types of cables.
Main features :
• Hydraulic driven with integrated hydraulic power pack
• Sheave driven by 2 nos. hydraulic motors, 10.5 kw
• Sheave fitted with 2 nos. 26500 NM gearboxes
• Sheave Diameter 5000 mm
• Fully variable speed and tension control
• Accommodate varying cable diameters up to 9”

Cable Powered Sheave (CPS)
- Cable Tanks:
Cable tanks serve as reservoir to stack the cable safely, two sizes
of tanks are prepared 6000 mm and 8000 mm diameter.
- Hydraulic Power Units:
CCC U/E has wide range of hydraulic power packs, ranging from
14 LPM to 160 LPM, 110 BAR to 350 BAR, arrangement can be made to
mobilize the proper one according to client cable specification of tension
and speed of laying.

- Cable Bend Restrictor:
Different arrangement can be prepared on vessel deck to maintain
the cable at its minimum bend diameter during the operation of laying,
bend restrictors are used to ensure this. Two types of bend restrictors are
available in CCC U/E fleet; Half moon and Quarter moon which fitted
with Teflon rollers, with no sharp edges to ensure safe handling.
