An empty handpiece holder or empty whip
arm with pilot air activation.
Adequate space to place the Cavitron Built
-In scaler inside the dental control head.

section should be added to the water
supply and air signal.

The Cavitron Scaler must be installed inside the
dental control unit. verify if the Cavitron Scaler
fits and the dental control unit closes. Turn off
power, air and water to the dental unit before
installation.

Adjustment
The Cavitron Scaler should be located on the left
hand side of the dental unit as shown, if possible.
The scaler module may be placed on its side, if
space is limited. Use Dual Lock fasteners from
installation kit to attach the scaler.
There must be an unused handpiece holder or
whip arm position available.
Water Connections
Water
There should be a distribution block position with
water available. If not, add a block section or
upgrade the distribution block.

Place the handpiece in
the holder and route the
cable into the dental unit.
Adjust the drape of the
cable to match other
cables. Secure the scaler
cable using the strain
relief and/or string.
Remove any extraneous
gray/surf handpiece
tubing as required.

Select an appropriate Power label from
installation kit. Use it to locate the
potentiometer mounting hole on the left or right
side of the dental control unit. Drill a 1/4" hole.
DO NOT damage internal components. Attach
Power label.

Mount the
potentiometer using
the lock washer and
nut. Install the knob
and tighten the two
set screws with the
hex key. Fully turn the
knob and verify the
rotation matches the
label.

port of the water regulator.

Connect the tube from the Control Harness AirElectric switch to the distribution block Drive Air
port. Use reducer fitting provided as needed.

Cavitron Scaler module, until connector
snaps in place.

Installation Verification

Use the tubing plug provided to block off the
Chip or Coolant Air on the control block. It is
not used with the Cavitron Scaler.
Connect the Control and the Handpiece
Harness to the appropriate connectors on the
Adaptor Harness of the Cavitron Scaler
module. Fully seat the connectors.

Place the transformer in the junction box. Unused
wires may be utilized to run AC power up to the
dental control head. Wires must be at least 24
gauge. Use two WAGO connectors to connect
the transformer to the unused wires.

Use two WAGO connectors to connect the
other end of the unused wires to the blue wire
and blue wire with white stripe from the
Cavitron Control Harness.

Spare Parts List
DESCRIPTION
Power On Icon: If LED is illuminated, Cavitron Scaler
has power. Verify 24VAC is being applied to scaler via
the Blue wire and Blue wire with white stripe.
Foot Control Icon: LED will illuminate when the dental
unit foot control is depressed. If the Cavitron Air
Electric Switch harness is being used and LED does not
illuminate when foot control is depressed, verify at
least 20PSI is being delivered to Air Electric Switch.
Handpiece Continuity Icon: Handpiece Continuity Icon
will illuminate when dental unit foot control is
depressed and handpiece is attached to the handpiece
cable. If LED does not illuminate check the following:
•
Verify Foot Control Icon illuminates when
foot control is depressed
•
Verify connections are secure between the
Steri-Mate, Handpiece Cable, adaptor harness
and unit.
•
Check handpiece cable and Handpiece pins
for damage or corrosion.
•
Unplug adaptor harness from unit and
measure the resistance across pin 1 (Red
Wire) and pin 3 (Green Wire) with handpiece
connected and verify 0.4 ohms.
