ENHANCED IR REMOTE CONTROL AND AUXILIARY AUDIO SUPPORT

FOR NSM WALL JUKEBOXES WITH AMI

®

JUMP

KIT INSTALLED

The Remote Control Circuit Board included in this kit decodes the NSM Infrared Remote Control signals created when the Free Credit and Reject buttons are pressed. In addition to controlling the Volume and

Mute functions as before, this kit will enable the IR Remote to perform 2 new functions:

1) Turn the jukebox ON and OFF

2) Cancel a Selection

The Enhanced Audio Interface Circuit Board included in this kit provides a second pair of stereo auxiliary audio inputs, with automatic switching between normal jukebox music and the auxiliary audio signal after

5 seconds of music inactivity.

Installation Instructions

1.

Enter the Service Mode and shutdown the jukebox. Unplug the jukebox at the wall outlet.

2.

After disconnecting the existing wires and cables, remove the NSM Jump Kit’s standard 34074901

Audio Interface Circuit Board Assembly (CBA) located at the top left of the juke and mount the new

34083301 Enhanced Audio Interface CBA in its place. See Figure 1.

3.

Connect the existing 6-position headers from the audio isolation transformers to J6 and J11 - either transformer may be connected to either header.

4.

Connect the existing 34078501 Mute Control Harness to J1.

5.

Connect the pair of audio phono plugs from the Rowe Core Computer to the J4 and J5 pair of phono input jacks on the Enhanced Audio Interface CBA labeled “MUSIC IN - R” and “MUSIC IN - L”.

If desired, an alternate stereo auxiliary audio source may be connected to the J2 and J3 pair of phono jacks labeled “AUX IN - R” and “AUX IN - L”.

6.

Connect the amplifier input harness (phono jacks or cables, determined by the juke’s system) just as it had been connected to the original Audio Interface Board.

7.

Install the 34082001 Remote Control Interface CBA, by attaching it to the top pair of Rowelink

Controller mounting studs, using the supplied pair of standoffs and nuts. See Figure 2.

8.

Disconnect the 34033227 Power cable from the Rowelink Controller P16 [Power] connector, and plug it into the upper ‘Power’ connector on the Remote Control Interface CBA.

9.

Disconnect the 34078401 Reject cable from the Rowelink Controller P15 [Reject] connector, and plug it into the upper ‘Reject’ connector on the Remote Control Interface CBA.

10. Connect the two 22208701 Interconnecting Cables between the lower pair of ‘Power’ and ‘Reject’ connectors on the left side of the Remote Control Interface board and corresponding input connectors on the Rowelink Controller (P16 -Power, P15 - Reject).

11. Connect the 6-wire 22132241 RCI Bd to NSM Central Bd Cable to connector J1 on the Remote

Control Interface board, and connect the other cable end to the NSM Central Board’s remote control input connector (connector “ST205” on a Series IV NSM unit, “ST11” on a Series V or 5.1).

12. Connect the 6-wire cable from the NSM wireless remote receiver (or wired remote control box) to connector J2 on the Remote Control Interface board.

13. Plug the NSM jukebox into the 120VAC line and verify that both the RCI board’s green “+V” LED

(D2 located next to connector J2) and the Enhanced Audio Interface board’s green “+9V” LED

(D6 located next to connector J6) are lit.

14. If using the auxiliary inputs to connect an external audio source to the jukebox, the Auxiliary Volume

Control on the Enhanced Audio Interface Board should be adjusted to obtain the desired loudness for auxiliary audio. See Figure 1.

After the system has completed it’s boot-up process, test for correct operation of the Remote Control

Adaptor Kit by pressing various buttons on the NSM remote control unit (Free Credit, Reject, Muting, Volume +, Volume -, etc.) and verifying they result in expected jukebox behavior.

Pressing the remote’s Free Credit button will cause the RCI Board to activate the Rowelink Controller’s

Power control input, in the same manner as pressing the Power On/Off [Sleep] button installed at the right rear corner of the jukebox bottom — resulting in the jukebox’s lights, touchscreen monitor and bill acceptor alternately being powered down or up with each press of the Free Credit button. When the

Power is toggled OFF, the Core Computer is placed in a “sleep” mode holding music selections in queue, but lights, bill acceptor and touchscreen are OFF. When toggled back ON, everything is energized and any songs in queue will begin to play (refer to “Queue Management” in the Network Setup, Jukebox

Operation, Operator Setup Screens manual for more information).

Pressing the remote’s Reject button will cause the RCI Board to activate the Rowelink Controller’s

Reject control input, in the same manner as pressing the Cancel [Reject] button installed at the center of the jukebox bottom — resulting in a song that’s currently playing being cancelled/rejected.

As before, the Volume and Mute buttons will change the amplifier’s output accordingly.
