Product Introduction Congratulations for your purchase of the new Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270. Vipfoner™ 270 is a Skype-compatible USB phone. You may control the Skype software with your Vipfoner™ 270’s keypad, accessing the dialing function and selecting a contact from Skype’s phone list. The system will automatically detect a USB Audio Device. 2.2 Installing Skype Software If Skype is not yet installed on your computer, please download the latest version of the software from www.skype.com. If you experience any problems intalling Skype, please refer to Skype’s website Help section. 2.3 Installing the Driver of Vipfoner™ 270 1. Insert the Vipfoner™ 270 companion CD into your computer’s CD-ROM/DVD drive. You will see the next image: 2. Click on Install Vipfoner™ 270 Driver to start the installation. 5 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 3. Please click Next. 4. Please click Next. 5. Click Install to begin the installation. 6 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 6. After installing, click OK to start the API program. 7. When a window with the message “Another program wants to use Skype” appears, select “Allow this program to use Skype” and click the OK button. Note: If you accidentally select the “Do not allow this program to use Skype” option , open Skype window and take these steps: Click “Tools Options Privacy Manage other programs’ access to Skype”, Select “USBPHONESKYPE.EXE” and click “Change”, then re-select a proper option to let the provided program access Skype. 8. When you finish installing the driver, a small round ball icon will appear in the system tray. The round ball icon can display different colors. Each color has represents a different status of the Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone, as indicated below: (Black) USB Phone disconnected / Skype disconnected (Green) USB Phone connected / Skype connected (Red) USB Phone disconnected / Skype connected (Blue) USB Phone connected / Skype disconnected 7 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 2.4 Setting the Audio and Sound Device In the Skype menu, select “ToolsOptionsSound Devices”. In the “Audio In” and “Audio Out” items, please select USB Audio Device, then click Save. 3 Using your Vipfoner™ 270 3.1 Calling a Skype User Pick-up the handset. The Skype window will pop-up automatically. Press the Skype table key once or several times to select the Skype contacts, missed-calls list or made-calls list. Press the Up or Down keys to move up and down the list. When you find the contact you wish to call, press the Send key and Skype will dial it automatically. If you wish to cancel the dialing, you may the press Hang up button or put the handset back on the base. 3.2 Calling a Phone Number ( SkypeOut ) To be able to use this function, you will need to purchase SkypeOut credit from Skype. For information on how to purchase SkypeOut credit, please visit www.skype.com. To make a SkypeOut phone call, pick up the handset, dial the phone number by pressing the keys on the Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone keypad and press the Send key to call the number 8 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 3.3 Answering a Call When the Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone is ringing, pick up the handset to answer the incoming call and put the handset back on the base to end a call. 3.4 Adjusting Volume Right-click the Vipfoner™ 270 USB Phone icon in the system tray and select Volume Control. Move the Speaker bar up and down to adjust the speaker volume. Move the MIC bar up and down to adjust the microphone volume. 3.5 Assigning Speen-Dial Open Skype window, right-click the user name on the contact list and select Assign Speed-Dial. 9 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 Enter the speed dial number you wish to assign (for example, type “11”) and press OK. Dial “11” on the Viphhone™ 270 keypad. This number will be shown on the Skype window. Press the Dial Key on the Viphhone™ 270 to place the phone call. 4 Driver: API Program Instructions Right-click the Vipfoner™ 270 icon in the system tray. There are five items on the list. Select Advanced Settings. 4.1 Advanced Settings Auto Switch Audio Device When this option is selected Skype will switch to a suitable audio device automatically. Auto Run Skype when Plug in If Skype is not running, the API will start Skype automatically when the Viphhone™ 270 is plugged into a free USB port on the computer. 10 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 4.2 Volume Control You can control the volume of speaker and microphone on this window. 4.3 Audio Device Settings Use this settings window to change the Windows default audio device. 4.4 About This window displays version information of the Vipfoner™ 270 API software (Driver). 4.5 Exit Select this option to quit the API program. 11 User Manual for Soyntec® Vipfoner™ 270 5 FAQ Q1 Skype is running, but it has does not respond when I pick up the handset and press the keys of my Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone A1. Make sure your Skype is correctly configured to be accessed by the provided API software. Please refer to section 2.3 of this manual (Installing the Driver). Q2. While using Skype, I hear the other person’s voice through the PC speakers, not through the Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone. A2. Make sure your software is configured to use USB phone as audio device. Refer to sections 3.4. (Adjusting Volume) and 2.4 (Setting Audio and Sound) device of this manual. For Skype configuration, please refer to section 2.3 (Installing the Driver) Q3. After using Skype with my Vipfoner™ 270 USB phone I cannot play music on my PC speakers? A3.
