Add a Shared Networked Printer - Windows 7
Staff have access to a range of network printers located throughout ECU Campuses. The following guide will provide you with
instructions on how to add or remove a network printer to your desktop and/or laptop computer.
Before you begin you will need to ensure that you:

Are connected to the ECU network via a blue Ethernet cable,

Have the printer ID you want to connect too i.e. PRN8001651,
Note: If you don’t have the printer number you can find it by looking under the barcode on the IT SERVICES @ ECU
label located on the printer itself,

Have permission to use the printer; Restricted printers are located throughout the ECU Campuses, please contact your
line manager, who will be able to arrange access to the printer, and

Have your ADS Login ID and Password, as this may be required to connect to the printer.
To install a network printer
1.
Click the Start button, and then click Devices and Printers.
2.
Click Add a printer.
3.
In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
4.
A search will begin for printers in your local network. Click The printer that I want isn't listed.
5.
Select the Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature radio button. Click Next.
In the Find Printers window, in the Name field, enter the printer number i.e. PRN8001651.
6.
Click the Find Now button. Select the desired printer in the Search results area. (If you are unable to locate the correct
printer in these results contact the IT Service Desk for assistance). Click OK. Choose whether or not you want the added
printer as the default printer and click Next. Click Finish.
7.
The driver will be downloaded and the printer installed. Click Next.
8.
Choose whether or not you want the added printer as the default printer.
Optional: To print a test page, click Print a test page button.
9.
Click Finish.
To remove a network printer
1.
Click the Start button, and then click Devices and Printers.
2.
Right-click the printer that you want to remove, click Remove device, and then click Yes.
