HOMESENSER OPERATION MANUAL
WHAT IS IT?
HomeSenser is a small, electrical device which attaches to your stove to
disconnect the stove if left unattended too long while cooking.
HomeSenser will attract your attention to the unattended stove with
flashing lights and audible alerts. If the stove continues to be
unattended, HomeSenser will disconnect power to the stove.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
HomeSenser works by sensing both the state of the stove controls
(whether the stove top or oven are turned on) and if a person is attending
the stove while it is turned on. Because the HomeSenser runs on its own
internal timer, the stove’s timing functions, such as its clock and baking
timer, may not function normally.
HOMESENSER ELECTRIC STOVE SENSER - HSE UniWire
The HomeSenser performs four distinct stages of operation:

STAGE 1: READY
During the ‘Ready Stage,’ the stove is off, power is connected, and the

green display light is on.
STAGE 2: NORMAL COOKING
During ‘Normal Cooking,’ the stove is turned on, power is connected, the
display light glows yellow, and the HomeSenser timer begins counting
down six minutes. The timer resets as long as someone enters the stove
senser’s field of vision. If you turn the stove off, HomeSenser returns to
‘Ready Stage’ and the display light flashes yellow as a safety backup.
(See Special Features for more detailed explanation.) This continues for
up to six minutes then the light glows green. You can resume cooking at
any time during this six minutes. If you do not return to the senser’s field
of vision and the timer’s six minutes pass, HomeSenser proceeds to the
third stage, ‘Warning.’

(See Safety Backup below)
However, if you do
not attend to the stove within 2 minutes, the HomeSenser will move to
the fourth stage, “Shut Down”.
STAGE 4: SHUT DOWN
In the ‘Shut Down’ stage, the alert stops beeping, the display light
turns solid red, and power is disconnected to the stove. The stove will
not function in this stage. To restart cooking once the stove has shut
down, you must manually turn all stove controls to the off position and
stand in front of HomeSenser’s remote senser for at least three seconds.
HomeSenser then returns to ‘Ready Stage,’ and the display light glows
green. Normal cooking can resume.

FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT
1. CYCLING - During normal operation, cooking temperature and electric current vary.
When this occurs, the senser light flashes yellow to indicate this change.
It does NOT interfere with cooking.
2. SAFETY BACKUP - When you turn the stove off, the senser light flashes yellow as a
safety backup to verify that the stove has been manually turned off and is not in a cycling
state. It takes up to 6 minutes then the light goes green. Normal cooking can resume
anytime during the flashing yellow.
FLASHING RED LIGHT/WARNING STAGE w/o PRESENCE
When the stove is turned on and no presence is detected (i.e. a small child), the
HomeSenser goes directly to the Warning Stage with flashing red lights and audible alerts.
HomeSenser will shut down the stove in 2 minutes if no presence is detected. If the remote
senser is damaged or disconnected, the stove will NOT operate beyond the current cycle or
warning state.

test the ground connection continuity. PROPER INSTALLATION IS NECESSARY FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE HOMESENSER. IT SHALL BE
INSTALLED ACCORDING TO NATIONAL, STATE & CITY CODES.
STEP 2: CONNECT THE CORD TO THE UNIT (continued)
4-WIRE CONNECTION: (4 prong range cord)
STEP 1: PREPARE STOVE FOR HOMESENSER INSTALLATION
1. Turn off the circuit breaker to the stove.
2. Pull the stove out from the wall.
3. Unplug the stove from the wall outlet.
FIGURE 1
4. Remove access cover to stove terminal
block.
5. Disconnect the range cord from the
back of the stove.
a) Slide the ends of your range cord through the *white, round insert* in the cord
restraint. Insert cord restraint into the round opening of the unit. From inside the
unit, slide range wires through the *black plastic nut* and tighten nut to cord restraint.
b) Place the ring connector for the Red wire onto the L2 metal terminal post. Place a *star-washer nut* onto the post and tighten.
c) Place the ring connector for the White/Neutral wire onto the White/Neutral metal
terminal post. Place a *star-washer nut* onto the post and tighten.
d) Place the ring connector for the Ground/Green wire onto the Ground/Green metal terminal post. Place a *star-washer nut* onto the post and tighten.
e) Place the ring connector for the Black wire onto the L1 metal terminal post. Place a *star-washer nut* onto the post and tighten.
f) Tighten cord restraint cap.
7. Make certain that the wires are correctly connected. Tighten the nuts on each post and make sure that no bare wires are touching each other.
STEP 2: CONNECT THE CORD TO THE UNIT
6. Turn the access cover on the right side
of the unit so that you can see and reach
the mounting posts. Do NOT try to remove
main cover. This could cause electric shock
as well as void your warranty.
8. Replace the access cover and re-secure with the *metal nuts and bolts*.
range cord
3-WIRE CONNECTION: (3 prong range cord)
a) To change the *white, round insert* in the cord restraint and install the *white, flat insert* for your 3-wire cord, unscrew cap, remove round insert and replace with
flat insert. LOOSELY screw cap back on.
b) Slide the ends of your range cord through the white insert in the cord restraint.
Insert cord restraint into the round opening of the unit. From inside the unit, slide
range wires through the *black plastic nut* and tighten nut to cord restraint.

rectangular, use the *round metal bushing* over the end of the
threaded fitting to modify the opening for a secure fit. Then slide the
metal locking nut over the wires and tighten onto the threaded fitting.
11. 3-WIRE CONNECTIONS: Connect HomeSenser’s three color-coded
wires (black and red on the outsides with the white in middle) to the back of the
stove as shown in Figure 2. YOU WILL ALSO CONNECT THE GROUND/GREEN
WIRE TO THE GREEN GROUNDING SCREW BELOW THE TERMINAL BLOCK. IF NO
GREEN SCREW IS AVAILABLE, CONNECT TO THE NEUTRAL/WHITE TERMINAL.
