Canon’s innovative HS System represents an exclusive combination of a high-sensitivity sensor and a powerful DIgIC processor that work together to give premium image quality in all situations. It excels in low light, encapsulating nearly every nuance of light and colour in superior quality images that express the natural atmosphere of the moment. The high-sensitivity sensor captures more light than conventional sensors, leading to increased light sensitivity for clearer, more refined images with less unwanted noise.

Canon DIGIC processor

Canon’s DIgIC processor is the brain inside every Canon digital camera – processing information from the image sensor for optimum image quality and fast camera operation. It offers near-instant startup, superb detail and low noise (even at high ISO) plus enhanced movie functionality.

DIgIC 6 is the latest evolution with faster image processing and improved noise reduction, as well as special features such as

Flash is often necessary to prevent blur in low light shots but it can ruin the atmosphere of a photo, resulting in pale faces and unnatural colours plus dark backgrounds, which make it hard to see the location. HS System cameras allow you to shoot without flash, capturing the scene exactly as you remember it.

Shooting night scenes without resting the camera on a stable object can give blurred results.

Because of the low light abilities of HS System, you can shoot handheld with less blur.

Track your travels with GPS

When visiting many places it can be hard to remember exactly where each image was shot - Canon compact cameras with gPS or gPS via Mobile* can easily solve this problem.

GPS on camera or via Mobile*

With the gPS feature enabled, the camera tags each photo or movie file with location information.

This data is saved within the file and can be used to pinpoint the location of the image on a map using the supplied software, or when uploaded to image sharing sites supporting map features.

A gPS Logger function can also keep track of the location at set intervals, even when the camera is not in use, to record a day’s journey point-by-point. The time and time zone can also be updated according to your position, so your photos can be tagged with the local time.

The PowerShot SX280 HS features A-gPS support for faster location acquisition.

Map Utility software

Canon’s Map Utility software is available to all Canon compact cameras offering either a gPS or gPS via mobile feature. This special computer application is designed for manipulating geo-tagged images and allows you to display the location of your images and gPS Logger files on google

Maps**. Additionally, your gPS

Logger routes can be exported to google Earth-compatible files for sharing with others.

ImageBrowser EX is a special image management software, supplied with all Canon compact cameras, that helps you make the most of your images and movies.

A modern and intuitive interface allows you to browse your galleries, preview images, edit movie clips and examine shooting information. Plus you can instantly share images on your Facebook,

Multi-area White Balance (WB) detects when a scene is lit with multiple types of light and corrects each type separately to give more true to life colours.

Advanced Subject Detection

Advanced Subject Detection can automatically detect a moving subject, such as a vehicle or a pet, and tracks it – ensuring it remains in focus and well-exposed until the picture is taken.

Face Detection

Face Detection quickly and accurately detects faces in a scene and then optimises camera settings so that everyone looks their best. With the ability to detect multiple faces in a frame, it’s great for group photos as well as portraits. Blink Detection provides a warning whenever faces are captured with their eyes closed.
