Special Safety Warnings Regarding Placement of

V-Series System and Other Equipment

Stable Placement. Do not place the

V-Series system on an unstable cart, stand, bracket or table. The V-Series system may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult and serious damage to the product. Do not use the V-Series system on any unstable surface.

Placement of a TV on the V-Series system. A Television that weighs less than 70 pounds (31 kg) and that has a base that is smaller than both dimension limits (shown below) can be placed on top of a V-Series system—BUT ONLY WHEN

THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE STRICTLY

OBSERVED. PLACING A TV ON TOP OF A V-SERIES

SYSTEM WITHOUT FOLLOWING ALL THE PRECAUTIONS

IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE.

• The TV must weigh less than 70 pounds (31 kg) or less.

• The base of the TV must measure less than:

System Width Depth

V320

??"

??"

??"

??"

V420 ??" ??"

• The TV must be anchored to the rear wall using anchor bolts and supporting cables according to the recommended guidelines provided by the

TV manufacturer. Household accidents and other unforeseen disturbances are likely to occur. ZVOX

Audio provides no guarantee that any object placed on top of a ZVOX Audio product is safe and stable. It is the sole responsibility of the ZVOX owner to check that any object placed on the ZVOX system is stable at the time of installation and at frequent intervals afterward.

• Install the V-Series system on a solid and flat surface.

Be sure to to prevent the V-Series system from changing position after installation.

Simple Setup – Just Four Steps

1. Place the V-Series system.

2. Connect the V-Series system to your TV and/or audio devices.

3. Learn the features and controls of the V-Series system.

4. “Teach” the V-Series system to respond to your preferred remotecontrols commands

(Volume/Mute/Power).

1. Speaker placement.

You can place the V-Series system on any flat, stable surface near your TV. If the TV base is small enough, you can place the Z-Series system on a piece of furniture and then place the

TV on top of the V-Series system.

• A safe installation is the ZVOX Audio system owner’s responsibility.

• A TV heavier than 70 pounds (31 kg) should not be placed directly on top of a V-Series system. Please confirm the pedestal base of the TV rests securely on top of the V-Series system. No portion of the TV base should extend beyond the edges of the top of the

V-Series system.

• A flat panel TV has a high center of gravity. Please confirm the furnishing supporting your

TV and the V-Series system is stable and secure. The surface supporting the V-Series system/TV combination should not move in any direction.

• All TV manufacturers recommend that a flat panel TV be anchored to a secure vertical surface with a tether. This prevents a household accident from causing a TV to fall off its supporting surface. ZVOX Audio recommends you heed this recommendation and all other installation recommendations made by the TV manufacturer.

2. Connecting Your TV To The ZVOX System

A. Connect your cable box, DVD player, etc. to your TV as recommended by the TV User

Guide. You probably have a cable box or satellite receiver, and a DVD or Bluray player connected to

Typical TV your TV. You may also have a game console or VCR

Back-Panel Connectors connected. Leave all these video sources connected to your TV's inputs—you don’t need to change them.

You should not need to connect the audio output of any video source directly to a V-Series speaker system.

B. Connect the audio output of your TV to the input of the V-Series system. Different TVs have different audio output options. Check the back panel of your TV for one of the following:

• Optical digital audio output

(small square port, often with a central cover flap).

• Coaxial digital audio output

(single phono jack, often orange).

• Analog audio output (dual phono jacks— red and white) – OR a single 3.5 mm “minijack.”

• Some smaller TVs don't have any of the above connections, but do have a headphone jack

(3.5 mm minijack).

If your TV has an optical digital audio output jack, use an optical (TOSLINK) connecting cord to connect to the optical digital audio input on the back of the V-Series system.

Optical connecting cord

If your TV has a coaxial digital audio output jack, any phono plug to phono plug signal cable can connect between this jack and the coaxial digital input jack on the back of the V-Series system.

ZVOX Back Panel Connectors

C. Connect the power supply. After making the signal connection, check to ensure the

Power switch on the back of the V-Series speaker is in the OFF position. Connect the DC plug of the Power Supply to the

DC IN jack on the back of the V-Series system. Then connect the AC plug of the

Power Supply to AC power. Turn on the speaker using the power switch on the back panel next to the AC cord.

The V-Series system has additional inputs that can be selected from the front panel or the included remote control. These inputs allow connection of an iPod, MP3 player, CD player, radio/tuner, streaming audio system or other audio device.

If your home TV system does not conform to the descriptions in this Guide, don’t hesitate to send an inquiry to [email protected]. A ZVOX Audio representative will respond with useful options.

3. Features and Controls of the V-Series System

You can “teach” the V-Series to respond to your current TV remote control for the following functions: Volume Up/Volume Down, Mute

(on/off toggle) and Power (on/off toggle). See the separate sheet for instructions on this simple process. After this “learning” process, you will not need the ZVOX remote control for everyday controls. Using your preferred remote control does not affect the utility of the ZVOX

Audio remote control. The ZVOX Audio remote control provides the full range of adjustments of special audio features and functions.

Input

When leaving “Standby”, the V-Series system will automatically select whichever audio input was last used. The INPUT button allows you to select a different input:

• Digital Input 1 - optical

• Digital Input 2 - coaxial

• Analog Input 1

• Analog Input 2

• Analog Input 3 (front panel minijack)

If the AC power is lost, it may be necessary to reselect the desired input. Mute

Volume

The VOLUME buttons on the front panel and the ZVOX Audio remote control operate in the normal manner.

FPO

Power (STANDBY)

The Power button on the ZVOX Audio remote control toggles the

V-Series system between STANDBY and On. Note: A V-Series system will automatically enter

STANDBY if the selected input is silent for longer than 4 to 5 minutes.

You can also “force” the V-Series speaker into STANDBY if you press and hold the MUTE button on the front panel for longer than 4 seconds.

A V-Series system in STANDBY will automatically turn back on if it senses a remote signal from the “preferred” remote control or the ZVOX Audio remote control.

Mute

Mute

The MUTE button on the front panel and the ZVOX Audio remote control operate in the normal manner. When MUTE is active, the display will show a blinking -00- for a minute.

Bass and Treble

The Bass and Treble controls have a range from -4 to 4.

Note: The bass output of a V-Series system is affected by its position within a room. You may find it sounds best with slightly more or less bass than the neutral setting.
