Memory Cooler

Dominator and Dominator GT DDR3 memory modules are made using DHX-2 features, a revision of our original DHX cooling technology. One of the primary improvements is the use of removable cooling fins. The fins can be removed so that end users can easily add custom cooling fins for aesthetic and cooling improvements as well as adding custom memory cooling solutions such as the H-30.

Removing the Cooling Fins

The cooling fins are attached using 3 screws. You will need a 3/32” hex key or allen wrench to remove these screws.

The Cooling Fin Removed

Once the cooling fins are removed, the modules are ready for the installation of upgraded cooling fins or custom cooling solutions. The grey material on the top of the heat sinks is thermal interface material or TIM. This is a thermally conductive material used to facilitate heat transfer from the heat sinks to the cooling fins. This material can be retained if needed and reused with the replacement fins or cooling solution or it can be discarded if not needed. You may want to retain it in the event that you need to reinstall the original cooling fin.
