Variables vital in choosing ideal machinery system

Putting together an
ideal machinery system
is not easy. Equipment
that works best one year
may not work well the
next because of changes
in weather conditions or
crop production practices.
Improvements in design
may make older equipment obsolete. And, the
number of acres being
farmed or the amount
of labor available may
change.
Because many of these
variables are unpredictable, the goal of the
good machinery manager should be to have
a system that is flexible
enough to adapt to a
range of weather and crop
conditions while minimizing long-run costs and
production risks.
Machine Performance
First, each piece of
machinery must perform
reliably under a variety of
field conditions or it is a
poor investment regardless of its cost.
Tillage implements
should prepare a satisfactory seedbed while
conserving moisture,
destroying early weed
growth and minimizing
erosion potential. Planters and seeders should
provide consistent seed
placement and population
as well as properly apply
pesticides and fertilizers.
Harvesting equipment
must harvest clean,
undamaged grain while
minimizing field losses.
The performance of a
machine often depends
on the skill of the operator or on weather and
soil conditions. Nevertheless, differences among
machines can be evaluated through field trials,
research reports and
personal experience.
Machinery Costs
Once a particular type
of tillage, planting, weed
control, or harvesting
machine has been selected, the question of how
to minimize machinery
costs must be answered.
Graphic information from Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Background photo by John Davis
Machinery that is too
large for a particular
farming situation will
cause machinery ownership costs to be unnecessarily high over the long
run; machinery that is too
small may result in lower
crop yields or reduced
quality.
Ownership Costs
Machinery ownership
costs include charges for
depreciation, interest
on investment, property
taxes, insurance and machinery housing. These
costs increase in direct
proportion to machinery
investment and size.
consumes more fuel and
lubricants per hour, but
this is essentially offset
by the fact that more
acres are covered per
hour. Much the same is
true of repair costs. Thus,
operating costs are of
minor importance when
deciding what size machinery is best suited to a
certain farming operation.
Operating Costs
Operating costs include fuel, lubricants and
repairs. Operating costs
per acre change very
little as machinery size is
increased or decreased.
Using larger machinery
Labor Cost
As machinery capacity
increases, the number of
hours required to complete field operations over
a given area naturally
declines. If hourly or parttime hired labor operates
machinery, it is appropriate to use the wage rate
paid, plus the cost of any
other benefits which may
be provided, as the labor
cost. If the farmer-owner
or a hired worker who is
paid a fixed wage operates machinery, then it
is proper to value labor
at its opportunity cost,
or the estimated return
it could earn if it were
used elsewhere in the
farm business, such as in
livestock enterprises.
In many cases, crop
yields and quality are
affected by the dates of
planting and harvesting.
This represents a “hidden” cost associated with
farm machinery, but an
important one. The value
of these yield losses is
commonly referred to as
“timeliness costs.”

Challenger launches MT900E series articulated tractors
Duluth, Ga. — Challenger, a worldwide
brand of AGCO, is giving
growers a boost in the
field with new Challenger
MT900E Series tractors.
Three articulated models
match robust new AGCO
POWER 16.8-liter diesel
engines from 490 to 590
engine HP with enhanced
hydraulic capacity, delivering the perfect union
of efficient power and
rugged capability.
“The MT900E Series
is specifically designed
to meet the productivity needs of the most
progressive grower,” says
Conor Bergin, product
marketing manager,
High-Horsepower Tractors. “Unlike competitive
models that rely on modified over-the-road engines, all MT900E Series
tractors feature AP168-4
diesel engines built just
for agriculture so opera-
tors can power through
challenging field conditions and cover more
ground, more efficiently,
each day.”
Bergin cites ample
horsepower, a sustained
torque curve, high-flow
hydraulics, smooth
PTO engagement and a
robust three-point hitch
as key features that let
operators take on bigger
implements and achieve
more. Additionally, fully
integrated auto guidance
technology and deluxe
cab upgrades reduce
operator fatigue and maximize productivity.
New AP168-4 engines,
massive power and quiet
performance
The AP168-4 engine
powering all MT900E
Series models is designed
to handle the most rigorous field applications,
with 490 to 590 rated engine horsepower and 529
to 637 maximum engine
horsepower. Dual twin
turbochargers with interstage-charge air coolers
and electronic wastegate
control contribute to
outstanding torque at low
RPMs. The high torque
rise and sustained torque
curve provide exceptional
lugging ability with no
need to downshift or pull
the implement out of the
ground, boosting productivity and providing exceptional fuel economy.
A dedicated team of
AGCO engineers developed the AP168-4 engine
to provide robust power
with smooth, quiet operation. Built to exacting
standards, the custom-fit
design and smaller cylinders dramatically reduce
engine noise. Each component in the industry-exclusive balanced rotating
group (cam shaft, connecting rods, bearings) is
calibrated to the nearest
gram to reduce vibration
and extend service life.
Operators also benefit
from smokeless operation
at low RPM thanks to
29,000-psi injection pressure and durable Bosch
fuel injection hardware.
The efficient engine
design also achieves Tier
4 Final emissions control
while eliminating the
need for a heat-generating diesel particulate
filter.
Increased hydraulic
capacity and improved
cooling system
The MT900E Series
is as big on hydraulic capacity as it is on
pulling power. Standard
hydraulic capacity has
been increased significantly to 58 GPM, with
a high-flow option of 85
GPM. Operators benefit
from a rugged Category
V drawbar with Category
IV adapter, which saves
time when changing implements. Smoother PTO
engagement reduces wear
and tear on today’s larger
implements.
The new two-plane
cooling system reduces
service time because operators no longer need to
expand or unfold coolers
to clean out any debris.
The new stacked coolers
provide improved heat
rejection between the
planes while maximizing
cooling capacity.
Deluxe cab upgrades,
more productive workdays ahead
Panoramic views,
plush-leather seating options and advanced auto

the MT900E Series cab
into a deluxe command
center, letting operators
clock longer hours with
ease. A heated and ventilated leather seat ensures
season-long comfort,
while clear sight lines to
the drawbar, and front
and rear tires, reduce
operator fatigue.
All models are Auto-Guide 3000 ready from
the factory. The fully
integrated steering solution provides a seamless

Puma tractors available with Tier 4B/Final Scr-only technology
CASE RACINE, Wis. – Since
they were introduced in 2007,
Case IH Puma series tractors
have proven to be outstandingly maneuverable, dependable
tractors for livestock producers, mixed-farm enterprises
and row crop farms. For 2014,
Case IH introduces the exciting addition of six new models
in the lineup.
“The 2014 Tier 4 B/Final
Puma model tractors now offer
more power than ever before,
in addition to an enhanced
cab that was first introduced
in late-model Tier 4A Puma
tractors. These new Puma
tractors can be equipped with
advanced end-of-row controls
and new rear remote control
on the MultiFunction handle,” says Dave Bogan, Case
IH Marketing Manager for
Puma and Maxxum® tractors.
“These tractors were designed
to increase operator efficiency
and provide intuitive use in a
comfortable cab environment.”
More Power, Less Fuel
Six new Puma models are
now offered: 150, 165, 185,
200, 220 and 240. These offerings allow producers to find
the right horsepower to meet
their needs. Up to 25 additional horsepower can be utilized
when constant hydraulic flow
is required during high travel
speeds or mobile power takeoff (PTO) operation.
However, using all of that
extra power does not mean
using more fuel. Outfitted with
the patented Case IH Tier 4
B/Final Selective Catalytic
Reduction (SCR) solution,
Case IH Puma tractors offer
class-leading horsepower
and efficiency from a 6.7-L
engine. As a proven leader in
SCR technology, Case IH FPT
engines lead the industry with
proven power and simplicity.
The Case IH FPT SCR-only
solution treats the exhaust
flow downstream and after
combustion in the engine,
so maximum power can be
generated without adding
complexity when compared to
hybrid solutions. The Case IH
FPT solution recently received
a FinOvation award from Farm
Industry News.
Enhanced Cab for Operator
Comfort & Better Visibility
New cab features that were
first introduced in the Tier 4A
Puma tractors will continue to
be available in the Tier 4 B/
Final tractors. These enhancements are a new headliner
with improved air conditioning controls, heated front and
rear window options, a deluxe
radio with optional Bluetooth
and high-performance speakers, and much more.
The ergonomic MultiControl armrest and MultiFunction
handle have been updated,
allowing 85 percent of the
major operating functions at
the operator’s fingertips to be
easier to reach than ever.
Because the tractor cab is
your office in the field, the new
Puma tractor cab offers more
storage and creature comforts.
A storage area for cell phones,
a spot for CB radio and more
storage nets have been added.
Split-view, wide-angle rearview mirrors are now available,
giving you both ground and
distance rear-view visibility.
Courtesy Photos
For 2014, Case IH introduces six new Puma models equipped
with more power and cab improvements while also meeting
Tier 4 B/Final emissions standards. The enhanced cab on the
new Puma models offers more storage and creature comforts in addition to better visibility with 63.2 square feet of
glass available.
“Case IH Puma tractors now
not only provide long-term
durability and outstanding fuel
efficiency, but they will also
make your days in the field
much easier with the comfortable cab,” says Bogan.
Puma tractors have always
had superior visibility, but
it gets even better on these
new models, which offer
63.2 square feet of glass. An
optional clear, shatterproof
4.5-square-foot roof panel
provides upward visibility for
front loader operation or extra
ventilation. Add in the new
split-view, wide-angle rear-view
mirrors and operator visibility
becomes outstanding.

Changes in machinery
size have affected each type
of cost in a typical situation. A slight increase in
machinery size can lower
timeliness and labor costs
significantly, enough to
more than offset the higher
fixed costs. However, as
machinery size continues
to increase, the timeliness
cost savings diminish, and
eventually total costs begin
to rise.
Machinery Needed
Machinery recommendations must be based
on the characteristics of
each individual farm. The
following factors influence
machinery selection, and
are discussed in order of
importance.
•Number of Crop Acres
As more crop acres are
farmed, larger-scale machinery is needed to ensure
that planting and harvesting are completed in a
timely fashion. An alternative is to acquire a second
unit of some machines, if
an additional tractor and
operator are available.
•Labor Supply
The number of acres
that can be completed each
day is the most critical
measure of machinery capacity, more than machine
width or acres completed
per hour. Increasing the
labor supply by hiring extra
operators or by working

longer hours during critical
periods may be a relatively
inexpensive way of stretching machinery capacity.
In addition, the cost of
additional labor only needs
to be incurred in those
years in which it is actually used, while the cost of
investing in larger machinery becomes “locked in” as
soon as the investment is
made. Extra labor may not
always be available when
needed, and working long
hours over several days can
present a safety hazard.
•Tillage Practices
The number of field
days needed before planting is completed depends
partly on the number of
separate operations completed on each acre. Reducing the number of tillage
practices performed or
performing more than one
practice in the same trip
effectively decreases the
amount of machinery capacity needed to complete
field operations on time.
Machinery cost savings
from reduced tillage must
be compared to possible
increased chemical costs
and effects on yields.
•Crop Mix
Diversification of crops
tends to spread out the
periods when timely completion of field operations
is critical. For example,
yield reductions due to
late planting begin later
for soybeans than for corn.
Harvesting can also be
TM
completed over a longer
time period. Thus, growing
more than one or two crops
reduces the machinery
capacity needed for a given
number of crop acres.
•Weather
Weather patterns
determine the number of
days suitable for fieldwork
in a given time period each
year. As a rule of thumb,
weather is suitable for field
work about 60 percent of
the time in the spring and
about 75 percent of the
time in the fall.
•Risk Management
Fluctuations in the
number and occurrence
of suitable field days from
year to year cause timeliness costs to vary even
when the machinery set,
number of crop acres and
labor supply do not change.
Investing in larger machinery can reduce the variability of net machinery costs
by ensuring that crops are
planted and harvested on
time even in years in which
there are few good working days. Machinery fixed
costs would be higher with
larger machinery, but they
would not fluctuate as long
as the machinery set did
not change. Farmers with
high fixed cash flow needs,
such as land mortgage
payments, may be willing
to pay more (in higher
fixed machinery costs)
than other operators for the
“insurance” of not suffering
substantial yield losses.
Regina, SK – Versatile
introduced a new tractor
for the North American
market in 2013. The
Versatile DeltaTrack, a
four-track machine with
industry-leading technology, is the first track
machine to carry the
Versatile name.
The Versatile DeltaTrack was designed to
offer an integrated track
solution. In conjunction
with Camoplast, an industry-leading track manufacturer, Versatile engineers
designed the DeltaTrack
to be a dedicated track
machine instead of simply
adding track assemblies
to an existing platform.
Two track width options
will be available, 30” and
36”.
The integrated track
undercarriage mounting system includes a
reinforced connection
to the tractor frame so
that the frame absorbs
load, reducing stress
on the undercarriage
and track components.
The large one-piece cast
drive sprocket features
industry-leading drive bar
engagement for better
torque transfer and long
life. 8.5” drive lugs are
the largest in the industry
and eliminate the chance
of track slippage. The
specially engineered wrap
angle puts less stress on
the track to enhance the
longevity of the track.
The idler wheels and
midrollers are polyurethane coated and offer a
significantly longer wear
life when compared to
rubber coated midrollers.
The large idler wheels offer an excellent approach
angle and a gradual
wrap angle to minimize
track stress and improve
performance in soft or
wet field conditions. The
midrollers are positioned
to provide a better ride
and less shock transfer
to the frame, cab and
operator. The double-axis
midroller system also offers better weight transfer
and minimizes vibrations,
providing a better ride
over straight or angled
obstacles.
The undercarriage
and track system on the
Versatile DeltaTrack
has been designed to be
reliable, durable and easy
to service and maintain,
reflecting Versatile design
principles. The simple
maintenance requirements of the track system
are serviceable in-field.
The tractor base platform includes a Cummins
QSX 15-liter engine that
meets interim Tier 4
emissions standards and
offers unbeatable power
and torque without the
requirement of additional fuels – no urea is
required. The engine is
coupled to a CAT® TA22 16-speed powershift
transmission that has
been designed for smooth
shifting and industrial-strength durability. The
power arrives at the track
assembly through the
proven Versatile outboard
planetary axles that have
been proven through
decades of use. This final
drive system can be serviced without the removal
of the track system. Operation of the DeltaTrack is
done comfortably in the
largest cab in the agriculture industry offering
unbeatable visibility.

Bucket Liner offers labor reducing alternative
Some call it tinkering, some
call it creating. For Dave Julian
of Arlington, his efforts to
make a better liner for payloaders have proved successful.
“I love to figure things out,”
Julian said. About 1 1/2 years
ago, Julian combined several
types of technology to develop
the Bucket Liner. Individually
formed for buckets of all types,
the liner releases the payload,
no matter whether the temperatures are freezing or 100
degrees.
Julian was frustrated because there wasn’t a product
that would clean out when handling messy products. Others
have tried it but didn’t work as
cleanly as Julian wanted.
“I‘ve worked with a bunch of
different types of buckets, from
tractor loaders to skid steers,”
he said. “The plastic I use is a
material that manure and dirt
won‘t stick to. Sometimes, the
bucket won’t clean out and
the users shake the bucket or
they have to clean it out with
a shovel. That can damage the
machine or be tough on the
operator.”
Julian starts with a sheet of
the special plastic and cuts it
to size, using materials that are
3/8 and 1/2 inches thick After
heating the material and shaping the pieces to fit, he lets it
rest overnight. He said at that
point, there are no porous parts
and it’s like standing on ice. He
fastens the edges with a unique
tool he developed to use with
his plastic welder. “We took the
fabrication four steps further
than anyone else.”
About 8 months ago, Julian
began marketing the Bucket
Liner and said he’s had a lot of
interest, including having one
in use at one of the big cattle
feedlots, in poultry operations
and at an ethanol plants where
they use the bucket to move
the dried distillers grain. “The
droppings at the poultry plant
are more like peanut butter so
you know it’s very helpful when
that won’t stick to the bucket,”
he said.
Julian said the company
is still in its infancy and each
time they find ways to make
it better. Like everything, it
comes with a price and the
product does what it’s supposed to do. It provides an easy
way to keep the bucket clean.
It you have a need for it, it’s
exactly what you want! In fact,
Julian says it’s very well built
and it can’t be pulled out if you
tie a chain to the liner.“You’ll
wear out the machine before
the liner wears out,” he said.
The liners can be used on
machines used for moving
black dirt, clay, wood pulp,
asphalt, manure, snow, DDGS
and anything that is a real
mess for farmers. Those with
excavators use it. It’s virtually
unlimited. He does not recom-

mend it to be used for tearing
out cement.
Julian says he’s well rounded in construction techniques
and loves to solve problems.
He also uses his plastic welder,
which costs between $3,000
and $10,000, to repair lots
of farm equipment including
tanks on air seeders and liners
in dump trucks.

Cummins starts production of Tier 4 Final 6-cylinder engines
COLUMBUS, Ind. —
Cummins Inc. has started
production of 6-cylinder
engines certified to meet
the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA)
Tier 4 Final regulations,
equivalent standards in
Canada and Stage IV in
Europe. Engine production across a broad 190
hp to 675 hp (142-503
kW) output will increase
during the course of
the year as off-highway
equipment manufacturers
release machines ready to
meet the near-zero emissions standards, that took
effect Jan.1, 2014.
This latest generation
of 6.7- to 15-liter Cummins engines will be featured in a wide range of
Tier 4 Final construction
machines, material handling equipment, power
packs and cranes set to
debut at CONEXPO 2014
in Las Vegas. The new
equipment will highlight
how Cummins engines
bring “Technology That
Transforms” to operators.
The Tier 4 Final engines provide the ability
to transform machine performance, not just with
ultra-clean operation, but
with faster cycle times
for increased productivity
and reduced fuel use for
lower operating costs.
“CONEXPO takes
place at an ideal time
to showcase our Tier 4
Final technology with the
capability to significantly
enhance the performance
of equipment,” said Hugh
Foden, Executive Director - Cummins Off-Highway Business.
“By making an early
start with Tier 4 Final
development, we were
able to undertake our
largest-ever field test and
OEM installation program, extending to more
than 70 machines operating under the most demanding duty cycles and
challenging geographies,
including high altitude,
high humidity, extreme
heat and cold.”
“As a result, our field
testing has validated that
the Tier 4 Final engines
achieve the same impressive levels of uptime
availability and reliability
as experienced by users
of our proven Tier 4
Interim and Tier 3 engines,” added Foden.
Production of the
QSB6.7 and QSL9 engines takes place at the
Rocky Mount plant in the
United States and at the
Darlington plant in the
United Kingdom. The
QSX15 engine is built at
the Jamestown plant in
the United States. The
early production version
of the all-new QSG12 engine is available for OEM
installation work.

WILLIAMSBURG,
Iowa – Kinze Manufacturing, Inc. continued its
progress on Kinze Autonomy by leasing its autonomous harvest system
to three farmers last fall.
While each of the farmers
was a participant in the
release preview held in
fall 2012, this year Kinze
representatives were not
in the field overseeing
operation of the system,
which allowed the farmers to use the technology
independently.
“Because the technology was brand new
last year, we took every
precaution to make sure
it ran properly,” said
Rhett Schildroth, senior
product manager at
Kinze. “We made several
minor improvements, and
this year the farmers ran
the technology by themselves. We’re now getting
very positive feedback.
The system just works –
the farmers keep asking
when they can buy it.”
The minor adjustments made to the system for this year’s harvest
include:
• The range of wireless communication between vehicles has been
increased.
• Additional diagnostic feedback is available
to the operator.
• A “go to here” feature has been added. This
allows the operator to
position the tractor in the
field in the best possible
area and wait for further
instruction.
• The speed of vehicle
path planning has been
improved. Kinze Manufacturing
The “go to here”
feature has proven to
be very beneficial for
the farmers. Users can
instruct the tractor to go
to a spot in the field that
they deem most conve-
nient in relation to the
combine’s path, instead of
having the system follow
the combine through the
field. This helps increase
efficiency and saves time
because the farmer can
gauge when they will
need to unload next and
make sure the tractor is
there waiting for them.
“The “go to here”
feature really opens up
the field,” said Kent
Armstrong, a farmer from
Cameron, Ill. leasing the
system. “After the corn is
unloaded into the semi,
I instruct the tractor to
drive to the best place in
the field to wait until I’m
ready. It helps the tractor
get to the combine for
unloading in the most
efficient way possible
and opens up the field for
combining.”

John Deere revolutionizes seed delivery with new row units for 2015
from John Deere
OLATHE, Kansas – John
Deere is breaking the planting
speed and accuracy barriers
of traditional row-crop planting with the introduction of a
revolutionary new seed delivery system. With the launch of
the ExactEmerge row unit for
the most accurate planting at
speeds up to 10 mph and the
new industry-leading MaxEmerge 5 row units for planting
at traditional speeds, customers
can now plant with greater
speed, accuracy and ease than
ever before.
The John Deere ExactEmerge row unit incorporates
new technology that gives corn
and soybean producers the
ability to plant at speeds up
to 10 mph while maintaining
superior seed placement. The
exclusive seed delivery system
cradles the seed from the meter
down to the seed trench maintaining optimal seed spacing in
varying field conditions. The
new system ensures superior seed placement at faster
planting speeds and offers a 10
percent improvement in seed
spacing at traditional speeds.
According to Kelby Krueger,
product specialist, John Deere
Seeding Group, the ExactEmerge row units are a perfect
fit for producers who want to
plant more acres in less time
due to narrow planting windows, or to increase the size
of their operations without
adding equipment. “We know
that accurate, timely planting
pays off in improved stands
and higher yields at harvest,”
Krueger says. “Now row-crop
producers will have the ability
to place seeds at higher operating speeds with even greater
accuracy in the field. They will
be able to optimize their seed
investment, reduce operational
costs and generally increase
productivity. This exciting new
high-performance system is
the most productive planting
solution we’ve ever offered.”
ExactEmerge features a
new, rigid bowl-shaped meter and brush-style doubles
eliminator that requires no
adjustment. It is designed to
provide a smooth, crisp seed
handoff to the industry-exclu-
sive brush belt which replaces
the seed tube. ExactEmerge
units handle all seed shapes
and sizes achieving 99 percent
singulation with no mechanical
adjustments – even over terrain
with slopes up to 15 degrees.
“Another important feature
is that our new brush belt does
not have to be synchronized
with finite meter speeds. The
systems are completely independent of each other, allowing
the meter to turn at the right
speed for the desired seed
population, while the delivery
system exactly matches ground
speed,” explains Krueger. “This
careful controlling of each
seed from the meter to the
trench and then releasing it at
the correct rearward velocity
allows the gentle placement of
each seed in the trench without
the normal bounce and roll
that would otherwise happen
at the higher speeds. We can do
this with both corn and even
with high-rate soybeans. And
because we never let go of the
seed until each one is in the
trench we’ve drastically reduced the ill effects of rougher
planting conditions.”
This new design also eliminates the long gravity drop and
retains the seeds in the brush
providing high quality spacing
when stopping the planter in
the field. The combination of
seeds retained in the brush and
a new Fast Start feature eliminates skips in the field when
growers start planting from
a stop. There will no longer
be a need to back up to start
planting.
Two 56-volt electric motors
per row unit rotate the meter
and brush belt independently
to achieve the desired seed population with speed matching
delivery. The new electric motors are brushless, maintenance
free and engineered to last the
life of the average planter.
“The ExactEmerge technology also delivers the seed
with consistent depth accuracy,
so the seeds are placed in the
bottom of the trench, before
closing,” says Krueger. “Active
pneumatic downforce (PDF)
means all row units maintain
the required ground contact,
even at higher speeds. The op-

erator easily sets the downforce
pressure and the brush belt delivery system delivers the seed
accurately to the bottom of the
trench at the desired depth.”
ExactEmerge row units
are compatible with 1775NT
and 1795 model planters with
central commodity systems
(CCS) in 15-in., 20-in., and
30-in row spacings for corn and
soybeans. All planter control
and monitoring is made easy
with the enhanced SeedStar
3 HP system that provides
fingertip control of different
planting functions and access
to all planting data. In addition,
ExactEmerge customers have
access to John Deere FarmSight services and data through
MyJohnDeere.com.
“For traditional planter
customers, John Deere is also
introducing an entirely new
line of MaxEmerge row units –
the MaxEmerge 5. These row
units combine the best features
of the existing MaxEmerge XP
and Pro-Series XP units, which
they replace,” explains Krueger.
“The MaxEmerge 5 features

Collaborative effort at SDSU produces world’s
first multi-hybrid planter to advance precision ag
When SDSU plant
scientist Peter Sexton
needed a new row-crop
planter at the Agricultural Experiment Station’s
Southeast Research Farm
near Beresford, he looked
to the future - in terms of
equipment and networking.
With support from the
Southeast Experiment
Farm board, the nonprofit growers’ corporation
that owns the farm,
Sexton and SDSU forged
a partnership with Sioux
Falls-based Raven Industries and DuPont Pioneer. Their collaboration
resulted in a twin-row
planter with the ability
to automatically switch
hybrids while seeding
on-the-go based on GPS
mapping of the field.
It’s the world’s first
multi-hybrid planter which is testament to the
value and ingenuity of
this collaborative effort
in identifying innovative
solutions for the future of
agriculture.
The First Step
The project was
initiated in spring 2012,
when Sexton sought advice from the Southeast
Experiment Farm board
- which is comprised of
area farmers - regarding
the need for a new planter. Though SDSU staffs
the farm, “the board
plays a valuable role in
our decision-making,”
Sexton explains. Proceeds from the farm go
to the corporation, which
then reinvests them into
research.
“We’ve got a good relationship,” says Sexton.
The board agreed that
a precision planter with
the capability of planting
multiple hybrids was the
way to go. Kurt Reitsma,
SDSU Extension field
specialist, then arranged
for Raven Industries
engineers to meet with
the board.
They determined that
the most logical choice
was a twin-row configuration and the Monosem
planter which had the
three-point hitch the
Beresford facility required, Sexton explains.
The Southeast Research Farm corporation
purchased the planter
and the board provided
funds for the raw materials needed to customize
the planter. “Without
their support, this project
wouldn’t have happened,” Sexton says.
Raven Retrofits
Planter
Through an agreement
signed in the summer
of 2012, Raven donated
the engineering time to
customize the planter.
Sexton described what
he wanted the planter to
do and then Raven engineers developed those
capabilities.
“This is a great model
of industry partnering
with public entities,” says
Raven Industries Product
Manager Douglas Prairie,
citing his company’s
emphasis on innovation.
Sexton gave Raven engineers feedback as they
developed the hydraulic
drives, control system
and software to modify
the Monosem planter.
“It was fun to watch
the excitement on the
part of the engineering
team,” Prairie adds.
“They saw such a great
purpose and vision in
what they were accomplishing.”
When the planter
was used initially in the
spring of 2013, Raven
engineers worked on-site
to make adjustments and
get feedback from Sexton
and the research farm
staff.
The development
phase was kept under
wraps until patents were
filed and the system was
unveiled by Raven at a
June 2013 trade show
demonstration. Raven
also showed off the
prototype planter at the
Farm Progress Show in
Decatur, Ill. - the largest
row-crop machinergy
show in the world.
“We have far exceeded where I thought
this product would be
today,” Prairie says. The
multi-hybrid switching
system, controls and
software are now commercially available.
DuPont Pioneer Supplies Hybrids
In addition to the
fields planted at the
Southeast Research Farm
near Beresford, test plots
were sown on private
farms near Parkston,
Tripp, Lennox and Baltic.
To select the appropriate corn and soybean
hybrids for the fields
that SDSU mapped,
Sexton turned to DuPont
Pioneer.
For low-lying areas,
Sexton wanted a hybrid
that could stand what he
calls “wet feet.” It needed
to have a horizontal root
profile and be resistant to
fungi to combat wetness
it would experience in
May and June. However, for the high areas,
Sexton sought a variety
with deep, vertical roots
to reach for moisture
when drought-stressed in
August.
Pioneer agreed to
supply the seed and
made recommendations,
according to DuPont
Pioneer agronomy
research manager Barry
Anderson. The data from
this research will “give us
a chance to understand
how our products perform,” he explains. “It’s
nice when we as a seed
industry can team up not
only with the university
but also with manufacturers. That doesn’t always
happen.”
The first crops planted
with the new machine
were harvested in October 2013 and the data is
now being analyzed.
Shaping The Future
The information
gleaned from field trials
planted using this firstof-its-kind multi-hybrid
planter will allow SDSU
researchers to produce
agronomic data that
will help farmers decide
what to plant, where to
plant it, and how much
to plant, as well as when
and how much pesticide
and fertilizer to apply,
according to Sexton.
SDSU will also be able
to provide agronomic and
financial reasons why
farmers should consider
using a multi-hybrid
approach to planting,
according to Prairie.
Eventually, Raven Industries seeks to play a
role in “designing a true
multi-hybrid planter.”
Additionally, this project has paved the way for
further collaboration between Raven and SDSU
- a partnership with the
Research Park at South
Dakota State University
has been announced
among the three entities
to further concentrate
on precision agriculture
innovations.
Looking forward,
as companies develop
seed hybrids for specific
growing environments,
Sexton anticipates planters that use this type of
precision technology will
become commonplace.
“What gets commercialized may look different
but the basic ability to
switch between lines on
the go, I think, is part of
the future.”

Experiment Station 2013

Multi-hybrid planter technology allows for switching hybrids on the go. The
letters S-D-S-U were planted into a field on the Southeast Research Farm
near Beresford. The darker green is soybeans, and the lighter area is sunflowers. Field trials were also planted with corn and soybean hybrids suited
to wetter areas in the field and more drought-tolerant hybrids planted on the
uplands in the same field.

The Heart and Soul of a Gleaner: Seven unique design elements
Although the S8 Series
is a new model for Gleaner, its components are
not untested. Over eight
decades, the Gleaner
combine has become
known for its 7 unique
design and performance,
and many of those unique
attributes and mechanisms remain in this
latest edition. Gleaner’s
performance comes
from the combination of
our patented processes
and components with a
design unlike any of our
competitors.
Here’s what makes a
Gleaner unique:
• The two-stage, fourstrand gathering chain
system allows the cylinder to be smoothly fed at
the same angle regardless
of the header height. The
long feeder house with
lowered rear feed floor
provides an increase of 65
in² (420 cm²) to allow a
smooth and higher flow
of material.
• The Natural Flow
transverse rotor in our
Tritura processor keeps
crop moving in one
uninterrupted direction
directly from the header
into the rotor and out the
rear of the machine.
• Distribution augers
spread material evenly
before it enters the cleaning process, allowing a
uniform ribbon of material without the uneven
feeding and bunching of
other designs.
• Accelerator rolls
speed the crop’s descent,
allowing more air to
clean the crop more
thoroughly with reduced
sensitivity to hills and
slopes but without the
expense and complexity
of self-leveling cleaning
systems.
• The transverse fan
has exclusive two-stage
cleaning. The first stage
cleans heavy material
right beneath the accelerator rolls, pushing
chaff out the rear of the
combine. The second
stage comes up through
the sieve and chaffer, lifting remaining chaff and
carrying it out the rear
of the combine. Together, they greatly improve
cleaning efficiency over
competitors’ designs.
• Fully welded frame
keeps the S8 Series solid
and strong and provides
a stable foundation for all
shafts and components.
• Low center of gravity, heavy final drives and
welded frames on the S8
Series provide for a standard bin capacity of 390
bushels (13,743 L) on the
S68, S78 and new Class 8
S88, one of the largest bin
capacities on any Class 6
through Class 8 combine
in the industry.
• Unique “Direct
Flow” two-auger design

Sunflower: The newest drill technology in two decades
Some have already referred
to the Sunflower 9800 Single
Disc Drill as a “speed drill” due
to its unique ability to seed at a
higher speed —without creating
uneven seed rows — than any
competitive model on the market. However, you may just want
to call it “extremely versatile.”
Whether you run it fast or
slow; in no-till, minimum-till or
conventional till; flat ground or
on a slope, the Sunflower 9800
works well in all conditions.
Hydraulic down pressure on
the openers, which is adjustable
on the go from the tractor cab,
eliminates the need to adjust
springs or individual row openers. Thanks to the 9800 Single
Disc Drill’s patented design,
we’ve also eliminated the need
for a gauge wheel running next
to the disc. This allows the “opposing single discs” to lift and
displace the soil between the two
narrow 6” rows. The loosened
soil coming off of the twin discs,
flows back against the trailing
packer wheels, which re-level
and firm the soil over the seed
rows. This soil displacement
process eliminates sidewall compaction, hair pinning and open
seed furrows, while leaving a 6”
blackened strip to encourage soil
warming. Available in seeding
widths from 30’ to 50’, the 9800 is
the one air drill that will provide
maximum productivity in any
environment.
1. Heavy-Duty Frame - Like all
Sunflower machines, the 9800
features an all-welded, box-beam
frame for maximum durability
and the necessary weight to operate in any soil and residue condition. Both front and rear beams
on the mainframe measure 6” x
8”, while tubing throughout the
frame features 1/2” walls.
2. Standard Walking Tandems
- Walking tandem axles, which
offset each set of support wheels,
are standard on the main frame
and all large wings to minimize
uneven penetration, while
providing the necessary support
and flotation in the
field and on the road.
3. Hydraulic Dow
n Pressure - Hydraulic down pressure,
which is controlled
by hydraulic cylinders connected in a
parallel circuit, ensures uniform down
force across the full
width of the drill, as
well as through the
entire range of motion of the tool bars.
An active hydraulic
circuit, operated
though a cab-mounted control, allows
the operator to

Bobcat M-Series excavator instrumentation improves functionality
A new forward-mount
instrumentation system designed for enhanced functionality and improved ergonomics
is available for six existing
models of Bobcat compact excavators. The new instrumentation system, introduced with
the E32, E35, E42, E45, E50,
and E55, presents operators of
Bobcat excavators with many
of the functions, aesthetics
and visibility they’ve come
to enjoy with Bobcat loaders.
The new excavator instrumentation technologies can also
help owners and fleet managers better understand and
evaluate their performance
and costs, as well as assist
them with identifying opportunities to improve machine
and operator efficiencies and
protect their investments.
Ergonomic improvements
The new deluxe instrumentation panel and control
switches have been designed
to be more ergonomic for the
operator. The previous instrumentation panel required the
operator to turn to the side
to engage the panel’s input
switches; the new panel presents these buttons in front of
the operator, where they are
easier to identify and reach.
From the operator’s viewpoint,
the location of the panel also
aligns with the existing cab
components and work group
structures to maintain visibility to the attachment. Other
forward-mounted instrumentation features include:
• Improved auxiliary logic:
The auxiliary hydraulic paddle
switch is live when the console is in the lowered position,
eliminating the need to activate the auxiliary hydraulic
mode switch
• New joystick switches
that improve the boom swing
and auxiliary controls:
• Improved paddle profile
makes operation more comfortable over extended time
• Reduced spring pressure
on paddle switches enhances
controllability and comfort
• New auxiliary detent
switch profile improves functionality
• New cup holder available
forward of the operator, as
well as a cup holder located to
the right of the operator
• Storage cubby located to
right of the operator for handy
items
• When equipped with the
radio, it is installed to the
right of the operator as opposed to its previous location
on the rear panel
Deluxe instrumentation panel
functionality
The M-Series excavator’s
optional deluxe instrumentation panel features multi-lingual functionality, similar to
other Bobcat products. It also
offers multiple capabilities
from analyzing user statistics, to integrated attachment
controls, vitals and diagnostics. Bobcat Company knows
customers frequently want to
know their annual or hourly fuel consumption. The
new instrumentation system
includes the functionality to
capture individual fuel usage
and real-time fuel consumption, as well as idle-time data.
The 5-inch, full-color LCD
screen enables monitoring and
interaction of multiple functions and visibility to several
features:
• Seven languages, including French
• Eco-mode for up to 8
percent in fuel cost savings
• Ability to customize
auto-idle delay to suit operator preference. Choose from
between 4 and 250 seconds.
• Attachment-specific operation tips to optimize productivity and versatility
• Enhanced engine and
hydraulic system information
to simplify checks of machine
status
3 options for machine
access
Among the many improvements offered with the new
instrumentation panel, it
provides flexible options for
machine access, which can increase security for equipment
assets. Owners and operators
now have three choices relative to keying the machine:
1. Standard panel with key
2. Standard panel with
keypad for keyless start, which
includes provisions for one
programmable owner code
3. Deluxe instrumentation
panel with integrated keyless
start, which includes provisions for one owner code and
up to eight user codes
With the new system, dealers can also upgrade keyed
machines to a keyless start
system much more cost-effectively. These access options
not only provide owners with
the ability to tailor their
access method to their operation, but it can also help
support a company’s goals for
theft protection.
An excavator for every
application
These upgraded excavators make up half of Bobcat’s
12-model lineup to help
operators match a machine
to their application — from
the ultra-compact 418 to the
8-metric-ton E85 designed
for varying dig depths from 6
to more than 15 feet. Conventional, Minimal and Zero
Tail Swing configurations are
available depending on the operating conditions. Altogether,
10 of the 12 models are part
of the newest line of Bobcat
excavators — the M-Series —
with industry-leading cycle
times and advanced hydraulic
systems.
Extendable-arm option, clampready
Bobcat is the only excavator manufacturer that offers a
clamp-ready extendable-arm
option. Five models feature
the extendable-arm configuration that can add 30 inches
of reach, when fully extended, giving operators ultimate
reach without having to upsize
the machine.
Expanding capabilities with
attachments
A total of 13 approved Bobcat attachments can enhance
an excavator’s versatility.
Attachments include augers,
grapples, hydraulic breakers,
plate compactors and trenchers among others. Changing
attachments is simple with the
exclusive X-Change attachment mounting system. Upgrade to the optional Hydraulic X-Change™ system for even
faster attachment changes.

about this solution is how well
it will function for them,” says
Luke Van Wyk, General Manager.
“We’ve spent a lot of time designing this so you end up with
a compact, convenient solution
that maintains the contaminant-free nature of DEF.” The
tote can be loaded and secured
using the same lift points. Everything is then easily accessible
from the driver side of the truck
bed.
Thunder Creek’s patent-pending 2-in-1 DEF pumping system
allows you to fill and dispense
DEF using just one pump. This
exclusive system eliminates the
need to purchase a separate DEF
transfer pump (a savings of up to
$2,000.) And unlike other portable DEF units on the market, you
do not need to move the pump
between filling and dispensing.
It’s as simple as grabbing the
hose, attaching either the Micro-Matic coupler or dispensing
nozzle, setting the flow direction
and turning the pump on.
Most importantly, the Thunder
Creek system maintains a completely closed path, so exposure
to contamination is minimized.

Kubota hay tools and spreaders arriving at Kubota dealerships
TORRANCE, Calif.-- Kubota
Tractor Corporation announced
the availability of its first phase
of all-new Kubota Hay Tools
and Spreaders in U.S. Kubota
dealerships. The new machinery further expands Kubota’s
strength in the agricultural
market, allowing its dealers to
serve as a convenient, one-stop
destination for Kubota tractors,
hay implements and spreaders.
“These tools are built on
customer-focused thinking
and deliver reliable and industry-leading quality, all carrying
the well-recognized and deeply
trusted Kubota name,” said
Dave Palmer, Kubota’s hay
tools product manager. “These
are the first in a series of product developments underway
that will allow us to realize
our agriculture growth strategy, and we’re excited to begin
delivering full-service tools to
our customers.”
As announced in late 2013,
the new implements will
be produced by Kverneland
Group, a leading international
company that develops, produces and distributes agriculture
machinery. Kubota Corporation
completed a full-ownership
acquisition of Kverneland
Group in May 2012. The first
phase of implements includes
five disc mowers, ranging from
5’6” to 10’6”; a rotary rake and
tedder, with a working width
of 13’9” and 17’1” respectively;
and pendulum spreaders, with
capacities ranging from 7.8 to
47.7 cubic ft.

The Kubota TE4052T is
built around a rugged new box
section chassis, made out of
one piece of metal with only
one welding seam for maximum rigidity. The chassis design is fully enclosed at the top
edge for maximum strength. Its
solid design allows the tedder
to accommodate hefty loads
and during transport, the hydraulic folding action automatically raises the tines.
Single Rotary Rake
Ideal for low horsepower
tractors, Kubota’s first pull-type
rotary rake, the RA1042T, has
a working width of 13’9” and
is fitted with 11 tangential tine
arms and four double tines per
arm. The high tine frequency
ensures clean raking performance, even at a reduced rpm
and high travel speed.
The Kubota RA1042T single
rotary rake features oil-immersed cam discs and guide
rollers. The arm bearings are
integrated into and permanently greased inside the Kubota-developed cam track for low
maintenance. The cam tracks
are specifically tailored to
individual rotor diameters for
optimum raking at any working
width and on any model.
Fitted with high-lift curved
tine arms, the single rotary
rake ensures a regular and
even windrow formation. The
curved shape prevents material
from being pushed in the direction of the rotor and allows
for higher lifting out of the
swath. With 19.7” lifting height
on the HydroLift, windrows
are easily cleared when driven
over. The rotor is lifted using
only a single acting valve. A
4-wheel 18.5” tandem axle is
standard and offers excellent
ground contour to minimize
the amount of dirt into the
windrow.
The Kubota RA1042T single
rotary rake is conveniently set
for transport and can be raised
from the tractor driver’s seat.
Additionally, the guard is folded manually and tine arms are
quickly removed for an even
more narrow transport width.
Pendulum Spreaders
The Kubota VS-Series
spreaders, VS220, VS400, VS400VITI, and VS600 are easy to
operate and provide outstanding accuracy in all conditions.
With a spreading width range
from 3’ to 49’, the SuperFlow
spreading system and pendulum movement of the spout
ensures the application rate is
identical on both sides, giving
the operator maximum accuracy for any application. This results in a symmetric spreading
pattern and excellent overlap.
Kubota’s VS-Series spreaders
are built for a long service life
with an optimized frame shape,
a fiberglass reinforced polyester
hopper, stainless steel metering
discs, and unique Duracoat
corrosion resistant paint. The
versatile spreaders are popular
for golf courses, vineyards, and
general farming applications.
All Kubota VS-Series spreaders can be controlled manually,
hydraulically or electronically.
The plastic scale on the spreading unit allows continuous
adjustment of the application
rate in pounds per acre, so the
risk of spreading errors is minimal. Using the spreading table
and the dial, the operator can
determine the desired quantity
of fertilizer for every spreading
width and forward speed.

Demand in emerging markets strengthens the world market for tractors
In 2013, according to
Agrievolution Alliance
estimates, the global market
for agricultural tractors grew
by 10 per cent to 2,150,000
units. This high number
of new tractors sold represents a great step towards
increased mechanization on
the farm throughout various
world regions - one of the
core objectives of the Agrievolution Alliance.
The biggest tractor markets in unit terms were India
and China. Both markets
increased by around 15 per
cent in the past year, to
619,000 and 445,000 units
respectively. Both results
show new record levels for
these countries, although
growth rates in China
slowed down compared to
the enormous development
over the past decade. The
third country to reach a new
peak in 2013 was Brazil,
counting more than 65,000
tractors.
This is the combine redefined. From the feeder house, to the industry’s
largest rotor in its Trident Processor, to the stratified-air cleaning
system, everything has been re-engineered and simplified to promote
continuous throughput at every stage, no matter the conditions. Stop

Sunflower 1436 disc harrow has aggressive
new weight for optimum field preparation
DULUTH, Ga.— Sunflower unveiled the 1436
Series disc harrow as the
latest representative of
the company’s successful 1400 Series tandem
disc harrows. The 1436
brings industry-leading
implement weight and
weight per ground-engaging blade, along with
an aggressive 20-degree
overlapping front-disc angle and full-concavity disc
blades, to handle heavy
residue and turn it back
to the microbial zone of
the soil for quick decomposition. The result is
a well-balanced tillage
tool designed to meet
the demands of today’s
producers for optimum
production and improved
soil tilth and fertility. The
1436 offers producers
optional blade spacing
and three finishing-reel
choices.
On-the-go soil and
residue mixing
“Residue management
tillage has become one
of the necessities of
higher yields,” explains
Larry Kuster, senior
marketing specialist for
tillage. “Heavy residue,
particularly corn residue,
can negatively affect the
following season’s crop
in many ways. Heavy
residue remaining in
the spring insulates the
soil to prevent it from
warming quickly, and
field trash also holds
moisture in the planting
zone, which can delay
timely planting,” he says.
“Today’s high-yielding
varieties are producing
residue in volumes beyond the ability of planter
attachments to deal with
it sufficiently to ensure
optimum crop emergence.
The growing popularity
of corn-on-corn farming
demands that residue be
sized and incorporated
into the topsoil, where it
can begin decomposition
quickly with the aid of
soilborne beneficial bacteria and fungi.
“The 1436 Series Sunflower disc has been designed specifically for this
task,” continues Kuster.
“The heavy frame, and increased weight per blade,
the aggressive overlapping 20-degree front-disc
gangs — which provide
a smoothly worked
surface the full width of
the implement without
additional center blades
or shanks — and full-concavity disc blades provide
a dependable system to
slice through the thickest
mat of BT corn residue

Productivity and
durability
Adjusting the tongue
to match drawbar height
is important to keep the
tillage tool level and moving smoothly through the
field, optimizing fuel use
and minimizing wear on
parts such as the drawbar,
level lift assembly and
other components that
can receive unneeded
down pressure if the tool
is operated either nose
down or tail down. Sunflower engineers offset
the front- and rear-disc
gangs to allow the front
gang to clear-cut the
entire width of the soil
profile, Kuster notes.
“Most competitors use
the heads-up or end-toend setup that leaves
an uncut ridge of soil.
The 1436 eliminates this
problem, and with its
20-degree front and 18-degree rear gang angles,
provides producers with a
level worked field with no
ridges or valleys.”

“UHMW bearings
support the 1436’s lift system in all fold locations
and lift pivot points,”
says Kuster, explaining
that the new lift system
offers no twist-and-strain
complications with its
design, which allows
easy folding to transport

Behind the 1436,
operators have the option
of three finishing reels
to finish the soil in the

Kuster: “Growers can
choose either 11- or

Tough New Holland SmartTrax II Tracks optimized for productivity
NEW HOLLAND, Pa.-With New Holland’s new
SmartTrax II tracks option, New Holland 4WD
T9 Series tractor owners
can take advantage of
premium-quality tracks
that provide the benefits
of a larger footprint and
less soil compaction. The
tracks’ unique high-idler
design, which has been
optimized for productivity and long life, allows
the track modules to
handle the toughest field
conditions with ease.
“SmartTrax II tracks
boost the productivity
and pulling efficiency
of our T9 4WD Series
tractors,” says Gary
Wojcik, New Holland
High HP Tractor and
PLMTM Segment Leader. “They’re designed
to increase traction and
reduce soil compaction
and slippage. A 4WD
system is easier to turn
without power loss and
will do less soil damage
when compared to a
twin track system. The
high-idler design and
long tracks means they
can easily bridge rough
terrain so operators enjoy
a smoother ride. And the
rugged design translates
into a lower cost of ownership than other track
systems.”
SmartTrax II, available for New Holland’s
T9.600, T9.645 and
T9.700 tractor models,
are premium-quality
tracks with the toughest
belts in the industry for
longer belt life as well
as uniform load to the
ground. Belt longevity
is extended because the
tracks are designed with
four corners, and with
the largest drive wheel in
the industry, the load on
the belt lugs is reduced.
The direct drive system
eliminates belt-to-drive
wheel slippage while
operating at low belt tension therefore increasing
the efficiency, especially
in wet conditions.
Industry-leading
high-idler configuration
handles the toughest
field conditions
The tracks’ unique
high-idler design has a
sled-shaped leading edge
that easily moves over
field residue, minimizing
soil berming/damage.
Surface debris is pulled
under the track, keeping
the track modules and
the tractor on top, which
further improves flotation
and minimizes surface
damage. The design also
makes it easier to drive
in and out of ditches and
climb over rough terrain
and obstacles without undue stress on the operator or the machine.
Belt tension is maintained with an integrated
tensioner/accumulator
for efficient belt operation and maximum life.

is a hit amongst livestock
and small scale farmers,”
stated Luca Mainardi,
Head of Tractor and Precision Land Management
Product Management.
“Its ease of use and segment leading comfort is
perfectly complemented
by up to 13% fuel savings
and state-of-the-art and
exclusive PM Catalyst
technology for Tier 4B
compliance.”
The T4.75 PowerStar
series is powered by a 3.4
litre, Common Rail F5C
engine with PM Catalyst
technology for Tier 4B
compliance. Developed
by New Holland’s sister
company, FPT Industrial,
the PM Catalyst is located in the exhaust system downstream of the
diesel oxidation catalyst.
When particulate matter
contained in the exhaust
gas passes through it, it
is burned off. This filter
never blocks due to the
high flow of exhaust
gas, and does not require regeneration. This
system is absolutely
maintenance free, an industry first. To date, FPT
Industrial has produced
500,000 engines with PM
Catalyst technology.
New Holland introduced Common Rail
engines to agriculture in
2003, and today’s T4.75
PowerStar benefits from
this technology. Precision
fueling enables enhanced
response when the
engine is placed under
load. Moreover, as exactly the precise quantity of
fuel required is injected,
fuel savings of up to 13%
have been achieved. The
flat engine curve between
1900-2100 rpm maintains
maximum power over
a larger working range
for improved operational
flexibility. A power-toweight ratio of 30.4 kg/
hp delivers outstanding productivity while
reducing yield-impacting
in-field compaction.
The T4.75 PowerStar’s
already industry-leading
service intervals have
been further extended by
20% to 600 hours.
Operator comfort is of
paramount importance.
As such, the cab has
been further enhanced
with the addition of an
optional dedicated baler

fully designed
into the track
module frame.
Versatility
and high value
In addition
to all of these
performance
advantages,
SmartTrax II
tracks are also
versatile. They
can be used on
a tractor for
