When the flashing ºC or ºF symbol appears take the body temperature.

32.3

C

Note: You may find it easier to start measuring your child’s body temperature

before turning the thermometer on as it is easy to miss the flashing ºC or ºF symbol. For example: place the probe into your child’s mouth then turn the thermometer on.

2. During the measurement the LCD will display ”Lo °C” or “Lo °F” if the measured temperature is below 32.0°C (89.6°F), or will display ”Hi °C” or “Hi °F” if the measured temperature is above 43.0°C /109.4°F

3. When the probe tip reaches its thermal equilibrium or peak, the ºC (or ºF) symbol stops flashing and the beeper will sound 10 times. The temperature is now ready to be read and will not change when the thermometer is removed.

4. FEVER: 3 fast beeps repeated 10 times. If the measured temperature is higher then 37.8ºC (100ºF), the fever warning function will emit 3 fast beeps 10 times .

5. After measuring, turn off the unit by pressing the power button. If the power is left on, the thermometer will switch off after approximately 9 minutes to save power.

6. Press and release power button to take another reading.

English

3.3.1. METHODS OF USE

When measuring the body temperature, always take the measurement from the same part of the body and at the same time of day.

Whichever method is used, it is recommended to avoid eating or drinking any liquids, exercising, taking showers or baths, or smoking for 15 minutes prior to use.

3.3.1.1. MOUTH (ORAL USE)

1. Cover the thermometer’s tip with the probe cover.

2. Place the probe tip under the tongue as far in as possible and switch the thermometer on. The mouth should remain closed during the measurement to ensure an accurate reading. Be careful not to bite the thermometer.

3. When the peak temperature is reached (15~25 seconds), it will beep 10 times and the “ºC” ( or “ºF” ) sign will stop flashing. The temperature is now ready to read and will not change when the thermometer is removed.

3.3.1.2. ARMPIT (AXILLARY USE)

This method can be used for babies and young children but is less accurate and takes longer. NOTE: This method produces a temperature 1ºC lower than a temperature taken orally. To get a reading temperature closer to an oral temperature, you must take the temperature over a 10-minute period.

1. Wipe the armpit with a towel.

2. Cover the tip of the thermometer with the probe cover. Place the probe tip firmly under the armpit, then bring your arm to your side so your elbow is firmly pressed against the side of your body and switch the thermometer on.

3. When the peak temperature is reached (usually 30 seconds but sometimes longer for this method), it will beep 10 times and the “ºC” (or “ºF”) sign will stop flashing. The temperature can now be read and will not change when the thermometer is removed.

3.3.1.3. ANUS (RECTAL USE)

Commonly used for babies, young children, or when it is difficult to take an oral

(mouth) or axillary (armpit) temperature.

1. Cover the thermometer’s tip with a probe cover and lubricate with a child-safe water-soluble lubricant e.g. KY for easier insertion. Do not use a petroleum jelly.

2. Gently insert the tip of the thermometer NO MORE THAN 1/2 inch into the rectum. If you detect resistance, STOP. Hold the thermometer in place during the measurement.

3. When the peak temperature is reached (usually 10~15 seconds), the thermometer will beep 4 times and the “ºC” (or “ºF”) sign will stop flashing. The temperature is now ready to read and will not change when the thermometer is removed.

Remember that this method produces a temperature about 0.5~1ºC higher than a temperature taken orally.

English

3.4. MAINTENANCE

3.4.1. CLEANING

1. Clean the thermometer probe before and after use by wiping it with medical alcohol 95% and then rinse with plenty of water.

2. When taking continuous measurements, we recommend using a probe cover, which should not to be reused.

3.4.2. REPLACING THE BATTERY

When the battery flag “ “ appears and flashes, the battery needs to be replaced.

1. Remove the battery cover.

2. Remove the battery with a non-metallic object.

3. Replace with an alkaline LR41.

4. Make sure the positive (+) side is facing up.

5. Close the cover securely.

6. Carefully discard the used battery and keep it out of children’s reach.
