Ariens has learned that the Sno-Thro® model 921300 with the serial numbers listed above may have been
manufactured with the wrong swing gate return spring. The incorrect spring may not allow the swing gate
to disengage completely when the traction clutch is released, which may keep the drive system partially
engaged.
Before putting them into service, inspect all model 921300 units with the above-listed serial numbers
where the extension spring connects to the left side frame as illustrated on page 2. The incorrect spring
has a bright yellow zinc coating. The correct extension spring, part number 08300036, has a natural oil
finish that appears to be grey or black. Model 921300 units with other serial numbers do not need to be
inspected.
If a unit has the wrong swing gate return spring, replace the spring with extension spring part number
08300036.
Note: Cut an inspection opening into the carton at the location shown on page 2. You will need to remove
the machine from the carton to replace the extension spring.
Dealers should file a warranty claim for each unit they inspect or service. Write the model and serial number on the warranty claim. Dealers will be reimbursed at their standard shop labor rate for 0.25 hours to
inspect a machine or 0.75 hours to inspect a machine and replace the extension spring part
number 08300036.
