Wichtig! Bevor Sie mit der Montage beginnen, lesen Sie bitte diese Zeilen genau durch!

Der Einbau des Steuergerätes

Das Steuergerät der PowerCom Motorradkommunikationsanlage hat ein integriertes Mikrofon zur Geräuschmessung. Über dieses Mikrofon werden kontinuierlich die Fahrgeräusche "abgehört" und von der Elektronik entsprechend berücksichtigt.

Damit die Motorradkommunikationsanlage einwandfrei arbeiten kann, muss dieses Geräuschmikrofon richtig funktionieren. Beachten Sie deshalb bitte folgendes bei der Wahl des geeigneten Platzes:

1. Das, in das Steuergerät eingebaute Geräuschmikrofon arbeitet um so genauer, je besser die aufgenommenen Fahrgeräusche, den tatsächlich gehörten

Geräuschen entsprechen. Aus diesem Grund sind Montageplätze weniger geeignet, die zu nah am Motor oder am Auspuff liegen.

2. Vibrationen die auf das Steuergerät übertragen werden, erzeugen Fehlmessungen und reduzieren außerdem die Lebensdauer der Elektronik. Bitte benutzen

Sie deshalb immer eine elastische, aber auch nicht zu lockere Befestigung.

4. Wählen Sie einen Platz der spritzwassergeschützt ist und vermeiden Sie auch die Montage in der Nähe von Zündspule oder Zündleitungen, da sonst im

Betrieb Störsignale auftreten können.

Bei Motorrädern sind im allgemeinen folgende Plätze geeignet:

Im Heckbürzel, unter der Sitzbank, in der Verkleidung, in einem der Seitenkoffer, im

Topcase, im Tankrucksack oder falls vorhanden im Seitenwagen.

Haben Sie sich für einen Platz entschieden, so können Sie nun mit der Montage beginnen. Um Ihnen die Befestigung zu erleichtern, liegt eine große Klettbefestigung bei.

An einer der Schmalseiten des Steuergerätes finden Sie mehrere Trimmerachsen.

Nach Möglichkeit sollten Sie das Gerät so anbringen, dass ein späteres Einstellen der Trimmer noch möglich ist. Eine Erwärmung der Elektronikbox ist normal.

Die Stromversorgung

Die PowerCom-Anlage Ist für 12 V Bordnetz ausgelegt und wird mit einer Sicherung von maximal 1 Ampere abgesichert! D urch eine elektronische Power-Abschaltung bei Unterspannung ist Ihre Bordbatterie gegen Tiefentladung geschützt.

Bei Kabelverbindung zum Helm kann die PowerCom-Anlage so angeschlossen werden, dass sie sich beim Ausstecken beider Helmstecker automatisch ausschaltet. Dadurch ist es möglich, falls der Anschluss Zündung (Kl. 15) nicht gefunden wird, die Stromversorgung über die 1A Sicherung direkt an Batterie Plus anzuschließen. (Die Helmanschlüsse dann aber unbedingt trocken halten, sonst kann die Abschaltautomatik unter Umständen nicht arbeiten, Batterieentladung!)

Kabel oder Bluetooth zum Helm

Ist dieser Anschluss (blaue Litze) mit Batterie Minus (schwarz) verbunden, schaltet sich die Anlage automatisch aus, sobald kein Helm angeschlossen ist. Bei Bluetoothzum-Helm ist diese Betriebsart nicht möglich. In diesem Fall muss die blaue Litze aufgetrennt werden! Bei Betrieb mit fremden Kabelhelmsets lässt sich die Eingangsempfindlichkeit anpassen, indem dieser Anschluss mit Batt. plus verbunden wird.

Zusätzliche Komfortfunktionen

Mit diesem Anschluss kann für optimalen Sound die MikrofonschalterMithörkontrolle bei Bluetooth-zum-Helm aus- und die Sozius-Navi-Unterdrück. ein geschaltet werden.

Automatisches Einschalten anderer Geräte

Der Anschluss “Relais control line” (grüne Litze) ist bei eingeschalteter Anlage intern mit Batterie Minus verbunden. Über einen externen Relaiskabelsatz können so gegebenenfalls auch Zusatzgeräte, wie Radio oder Funkanlage automatisch eingeschaltet werden (Master - Slavefunktion), die automatische Helmerkennung muss dazu eingeschaltet sein (blaue Brücke geschlossen).

Vermeidung von Störeinflüssen aus der Fahrzeugelektrik, etc.

Motorräder sind meistens nicht besonders gut entstört. Das Steuergerät der

PowerCom Motorradkommunikationsanlage enthält bereits aufwendige Entstörfilter gegen die auf dem Bordnetz überlagerten Störimpulse, die Ausführung mit Funk- oder Handyfreisprechsystem ist außerdem zum Schutz vor elektromagnetischen

Störfeldern mit einem störstrahlgeschützten Gehäuse ausgestattet. Dennoch sollten

Sie bei der Montage folgendes beachten:

· Keine der Leitungen in Nähe der Zündanlage verlegen

· Nur einen gemeinsamen Masseanschluss für alle Geräte verwenden

· Das Gehäuse der Anlage von metallischen Chassisteilen isoliert mont.

· Das Fahrzeug möglichst gut entstören lassen, (entstörte Kerzenstecker, etc.)

· Funk oder Handy nicht in unmittelbarer Nähe des Steuergerätes betreiben

· Nur Geräte anschließen bei denen die EMV-Richtlinien eingehalten werden 1

Eine Haftung für Funktionseinschränkungen, die durch Fahrzeugstörungen oder

Störungen von anderen Geräten hervorgerufen werden, können wir nicht übernehmen!

Die Montage der Helmanschlusskupplungen

Befestigen Sie die Helmanschlusskupplungen mit den beiliegenden Kabelbindern an der Knickschutztülle, siehe Abbildung. So befestigt, können sich die Steckverbindungen bei versehentlichem oder gewaltsamen Auftrennen nicht verkanten!

Die Helmanschlüsse sind weitgehend witterungsbeständig. Wenn trotz Abdichtung Wasser zwischen die Kontakte gelangt, ist eine Rückkopplung zwischen Lautsprecher- und Mikrofonleitung unvermeidlich. In diesem Fall schaltet sich die Anlage ab. Falls Sie ein Pfeifgeräusch hören, sollten Sie die Anlage umgehend abschalten!

Welche Helmsets sind geeignet?

Das PowerCom-System ist für den Betrieb bei hohen Fahrgeräuschen ausgelegt.

Die verwendeten Helmmikrofone und Lautsprecher sollten deshalb für einen entsprechend hohen Lautstärkebereich geeignet sein, auch müssen die Mikrofone die störenden Fahr- Wind- und Körperschallgeräusche möglichst gut unterdrücken und für die automatische Helmerkennung geeignet sein. Eine optimale Funktion kann nur mit den passenden Original AKE PowerCom-Helmsets erreicht werden.

Bei PowerCom-Anlagen mit Bluetoothschnittstelle zum Helm verwenden Sie bitte die PowerCom-optimierte Variante der AKE Bluetooth-Helmsets.

¹) Elektro-Magnetische Verträglichkeit. Manche Funkgeräte, etc. reagieren sehr empfindlich auf

Störungen, die z.B. über das Anschlusskabel auf den Mikrofoneingang einkoppeln können.

Die Grundeinstellung der Fahrgeräuschkompensation

Mögliche Montageplätze z.B. an einem BMW Motorrad

Die optimale Fahrgeräuschkompensation für die Spracherkennung

Wenn Sie kein Helmmikrofon benutzen, können Sie diesen Abschnitt überspringen.

Da die genaue Fahrgeräuschkompensation von vielen Faktoren, wie Fahrzeugtyp,

Montageplatz, Helmtyp, Mikrofonposition und Fahrweise abhängt, kann eine wirklich optimale Einstellung nur im praktischen Betrieb erreicht werden.

Wählen Sie, ausgehend von der Grundeinstellung, für die Feineinstellung eine

Betriebsart, bei der das Helmmikrofon benötigt wird, also Interkom-, Funk- oder

Handy-Betrieb (bei Funk mit VOX-Betrieb ist die Sprechschwelle etwas angehoben, um eine versehentliche Aktivierung möglichst zu verhindern).

Wenn bei höherer Fahrgeschwindigkeit das Helmmikrofon beim Sprechen zu schwer einschaltet, den linken Trimmer (wenn dieser am Anschlag steht den

rechten) vorsichtig ein wenig nach links (bzw. nach minus) korrigieren.

Wenn bei höherer Fahrgeschwindigkeit das Helmmikrofon beim Sprechen zu leicht einschaltet, den linken Trimmer

(wenn dieser an Anschlag steht den rechten) vorsichtig ein wenig nach rechts (bzw. nach plus) korrigieren.

Bei der nächsten Fahrt testen, ob nun eine zufriedenstellen ist, sollten Sie solange anhalten, nachstellen und wieder fahren, bis eine optimale Einstellung erreicht ist.)

Automatische Interkomabschaltung bei Solobetrieb

Bei allen PowerCom-Versionen ist bei Solobetrieb, d. h. wenn nur ein Helm angeschlossen ist, die Interkom-Funktion abgeschaltet. Dadurch wird ein ungewolltes

Einschalten des Helmmikrofons, z.B. beim Mitsingen, etc. sicher vermieden.

Beachten Sie aber, dass bei eingeschalteter Funk-VOX und soweit vorhanden bei

Handy-Aktivität, das Helmmikrofon in Einschaltbereitschaft gehen muss. (Bei Geräten mit Funkanschluss, aber ohne Bedienteil ist die VOX über den iVOX-Stecker immer eingeschaltet!)

Die Anpassung der Interkom-Sprechlautstärke

Die richtige Sprechlautstärke ist bereits eingestellt. Wenn die verwendeten Helme die Fahrgeräusche zu wenig abdämpfen oder die Helm-Lautsprecher ungünstig montiert sind, und dadurch die Sprache nicht ausreichend zu hören ist, kann diese

Einstellung mit den Trimmern “INTERKOM DRIVER” und “INTERKOM PILLION” individuell korrigiert werden.

Das Einstellen der Funk- / Handy-Sprechlautstärke (Modulation)

Alle Geräte der PowerCom-Serie mit Funk- oder Handy- Freisprecheinrichtung haben einen Modulationsausgang mit automatischer Pegelumschaltung bei externer Speisung und sind dadurch sowohl zum Anschluss an Funkgeräte bzw.

Handys mit Mikrofoneingang für dynamische Mikrofone, als auch zum Anschluss an Funkgeräte bzw. Handys mit Mikrofoneingang für Electretmikrofone geeignet.

Zusätzlich kann mit je einem Trimmer “2-WAY-RADIO MIC LEVEL” bzw. “PHONE

MIC LEVEL” die Sprechlautstärke auf das angeschlossene Gerät so angepasst werden, dass die Sprache bei der Gegenstation weder zu leise noch übersteuert zu hören ist.

¹) Bei manchen Motorrädern ist, je nach Helmqualität gelegentliches Einschalten der

Helmmikrofone bei Windböen, besonders beim Sozius nicht ganz zu vermeiden.

Wir empfehlen für solche Fälle die Verwendung eines im Handel erhältlichen Windschutzleders, welches an der unteren Helmkante befestigt werden kann.

Eine Einstellung auf die Sprechlautstärke bei höherer Fahrgeschwindigkeit ist nicht erforderlich. Die fahrgeräuschkompensierte Modulationsregelung der PowerCom -

Elektronik sorgt dafür, dass die optimale Einstellung bei jeder Fahrgeschwindigkeit erhalten bleibt.

Der “Hands Free”-Betrieb mit Radio, CD-Player etc.

Bei allen PowerCom-Versionen mit Audio-Hands-Free-Kit können diverse Audiosysteme, wie Autoradio, Miniradio, MP3-, CD-Player und andere Wiedergabegeräte angeschlossen werden. Die Verbindung zu den Lautsprecher- oder

Kopfhörerausgängen erfolgt über den separat erhältlichen Audioadapter.

Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe auf dem mit [A] gekennzeichneten Anschluss des

PowerCom- Steuergerätes. Stecken Sie den Stecker des Adapters hier ein und schieben Sie den beiliegenden Feuchtigkeitsschutz mittig über die Steckverbindung. Verlegen Sie das Kabel (nicht in Nähe der Zündleitungen) und verbinden

Sie das andere Ende mit Ihrem Audiosystem.

Das motorradtaugliche Audio-Hands-Free-Kit bietet folgende Komfortfunktionen: o Automatische Lautstärkeanpassung des Audiosignals an die jeweiligen

Fahrgeräusche o Lautstärkeabsenkung des Audiosignals bei Interkom-Sprechbetrieb mit angenehm weicher Überblendregelung o Stereoübertragung möglich, (StVo beachten!).

o Wahlweise aktivierbares Fahrer-Audio-Sicherheitssystem o Bei Benutzung des optionalen Bedienteiles kann zusätzlich das Audiosignal für den Fahrer jederzeit manuell Stumm geschaltet werden

Der “Hands Free”-Betrieb mit Navigationssystem

Bei allen PowerCom-Versionen mit Navi-Hands-Free-Kit, können diverse Navigationssysteme mit Sprachausgabe angeschlossen werden. Es ist sowohl der

Anschluss an Hochpegel (Lautsprecherausgänge), als auch an Niederpegel

(Kopfhörerausgänge) möglich . Die Verbindung erfolgt über den separat erhältlichen Naviadapter.

Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe auf dem mit [N] gekennzeichneten Anschluss des

PowerCom- Steuergerätes. Stecken Sie den Stecker des Adapters hier ein und schieben Sie den beiliegenden Feuchtigkeitsschutz mittig über die Steckverbindung. Verlegen Sie das Kabel (nicht in Nähe der Zündleitungen) und verbinden

Sie das andere Ende mit Ihrem Navisystem.

Das motorradtaugliche Navi-Hands-Free-Kit bietet folgende Komfortfunktionen: o Automatische Lautstärkeanpassung des Navi-Signals an die jeweiligen

Fahrgeräusche o Lautstärkeabsenkung eines gleichzeitig vorhandenen Audiosignals (Musik) bei Sprachdurchsagen o Auch 2-Kanal-Betrieb möglich, dadurch können auch Geräte mit Stereo-

Ausgang angeschlossen werden

Der “Hands Free”-Betrieb mit Funkgerät

Bei allen PowerCom-Versionen mit Funkfreisprecheinrichtung können CB-, LPD-,

PMR- und sonstige Funkgeräte angeschlossen werden. Die Verbindung erfolgt

über den separat erhältlichen Funkanschlussadapter.

Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe auf dem mit [F] gekennzeichneten Anschluss des

PowerCom- Steuergerätes. Stecken Sie den Stecker des Adapters hier ein und schieben Sie den beiliegenden Feuchtigkeitsschutz mittig über die Steckverbindung. Verlegen Sie das Kabel (nicht in Nähe der Zündleitungen) und verbinden

Sie das andere Ende mit Ihrem Funkgerät.

Die motorradtaugliche Funkfreisprecheinrichtung bietet folgende Komfortfunktionen: o Automatische Lautstärkeanpassung des Funk-Empfangssignals an die jeweiligen Fahrgeräusche o Fahrgeräuschkompensierte automatische Sprachsteuerung (motorradtaugliche VOX) ¹ , bei Benutzung des optionalen Bedienteiles ist sowohl

Freisprechbetrieb, als auch manueller Betrieb mit Sendetaste möglich o Gegebenenfalls automatische Lautstärkeabsenkung des Audiosignals

(Musik), sowie des Navisignals bei Funkbetrieb o Fahrgeräuschabhängige Modulationsanpassung o Universeller Modulationsausgang, erkennt, ob Ihr Funkgerät für dynamische oder Electret-Mikrofone ausgelegt ist und passt sich automatisch an o bei ON TOUR und INNOVA zusätzlich Kompensation der vom Funkgerät abhängigen VOXAnsprechverzögerung ²

Die Antenne des Funkgerätes sollte nicht in unmittelbarer Nähe des PowerCom-

Steuergerätes angeordnet sein. Bei Funkgeräten mit eigener VOX, muss diese ausgeschaltet sein. Subaudiotöne, wie CTCSS und DCS sollten Sie nur einschalten, wenn unbedingt erforderlich.

¹) Aktivierung über iVOX-Stecker am Remoteanschluss [R] der PowerCom-Anlage. .

²) Viele Funkgeräte brauchen recht lange, um von Empfang auf Senden umzuschalten, dadurch kann bei VOX-Betrieb der Satzanfang verschluckt werden.

Der “Hands Free”-Betrieb über den Smart-Anschluss

Bei allen PowerCom Plus Versionen mit Smartanschluss können auch Geräte angeschlossen werden, die sowohl eine Duplex als auch eine Stereo-Verbindung benötigen. Das können Smartphones, aber auch andere Kombigeräte sein. Die Verbindung erfolgt wahlweise über separat erhältliche Anschlusskabel oder Bluetooth .

Beim Zumo 660 ist der Kabel- Mikrofonanschluss bei eingehendem Handy-

Signal (auch bei Nebengeräuschen) gesperrt. Dadurch kann der Eindruck entstehen, dass die Sprache beim Partner nur abgehackt oder gar nicht ankommt!

Für die BluetoothVerbindung empfehlen wir unseren Bluetooth Accessory

Serie, wird mit diesem die Bluetooth-zum-Helm Verbindung automatisch auf

Stereo umgeschaltet, sobald keine Duplex-Sprechverbindung benötigt wird (z.B.

Musik vom Smartphone bei Solobetrieb).

Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe auf dem mit [S] bzw. [U] gekennzeichneten Anschluss des PowerCom- Steuergerätes. Stecken Sie den Stecker des Adapters hier ein und schieben Sie den beiliegenden Feuchtigkeitsschutz mittig über die Steckverbindung.

Verlegen Sie bei einer Kabelverbindung das Kabel (nicht in Nähe der Zündleitungen) und verbinden Sie das andere Ende mit Ihrem Handy / Smartphone.

Die motorradtaugliche Handyfreisprecheinrichtung mit Smartsteuerung bietet folgende Komfortfunktionen: o Automatische Lautstärkeanpassung des Handy-Empfangssignals an die jeweiligen Fahrgeräusche.

o Gegebenenfalls automatische Lautstärkeabsenkung des Audiosignals

(Musik), sowie des Navisignals und des Funksignales bei Handybetrieb.

o Fahrgeräuschabhängige Modulationsanpassung und Einstelltrimmer für optimale Sprechlautstärke beim Senden.

o Sprachwahl möglich, (handyabhängig).

o Mit Bluetooth Accessory Adapter PB-AA D&S zusätzlich bedarfsabhängige

Stereo/DuplexSignalsteuerung der Bluetooth-zum-Helm Verbindung.

Das angeschlossene PowerCom-System wird vom Handy bzw. Smartphone als Headset erkannt. Weitere Hinweise entnehmen Sie bitte der Bedienungsanleitung dieser Geräte.

Der Anschluss eines Camcorders oder Diktiergerätes, etc.

Bei allen PowerCom-Versionen mit Funkfreisprecheinrichtung können auch Camcorder und Diktiergeräte angeschlossen werden. Die Verbindung erfolgt über

den separat erhältlichen Anschlussadapter. Besonders reizvoll ist die Life-Aufnahme einer Motorradtour, z.B. per Digicam mit Tonaufzeichnung über Helmmikro.

Die Verwendung des optionalen Bedienteiles

Das PowerCom-System ermöglicht den Anschluss eines Bedienteiles, es ist aber auch der Betrieb ohne Bedienteil möglich (VOX /Test / Paaren über Kodierstecker).

B efestigen Sie das Bedienteil in einer griffgünstigen Position, (Schutzfolie entfernen, Klebefläche gründlich reinigen). Verlegen Sie das Kabel so zum Steuergerät, dass die Bewegungsfähigkeit der Lenkers nicht beeinträchtigt wird. Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe auf dem mit [R] gekennzeichneten Anschluss des PowerCom-

Steuergerätes und stecken Sie den Stecker des Bedienteiles hier ein. Schieben Sie, falls erforderlich, den Feuchtigkeitsschutz mittig über die Steckverbindung.

Das PowerCom-System kann auf Wunsch auch mit Anschlüssen für Seitenwagenbetrieb bestellt werden. Bitte beachten Sie, dass bei diesen Anlagen die Power

Einschaltautomatik nur über Fahrer und Soziushelm aktiviert wird.

Wichtiger Hinweis zur Lautstärke

Der PowerCom-Leistungsverstärker hat eine Überlastabschaltung für die Helmlautsprecher. Bei zu hoher Lautstärke werden die Verstärkerausgänge vorübergehend abgeschaltet. Reduzieren Sie in diesem Fall unbedingt die Lautstärke, sonst können die Helmlautsprecher beschädigt werden! Besonders beim Tragen von dicht schließenden Ohrstöpseln wird die Lautstärke leicht zu hoch eingestellt.

Verzichten Sie unbedingt auf eine höhere Lautstärke als nötig!

Ihr Gehör kann durch eine zu hohe Lautstärke geschädigt werden, außerdem ist für den Fahrer eine aktive Teilnahme am Straßenverkehr nicht mehr gewährleistet!

Important !

Before you start mounting, please read the following lines carefully !

Mounting the control device

The control device of the PowerCom motorbike communication system is equipped with an internal microphone for noise measuring. Via this microphone the road noise is continuously "scanned" and processed by the electronics.

The system will only work perfectly when this noise microphone is working properly. Please consider the following when choosing the mounting position:

1. The internal microphone works much more exactly when it can register the noise as it is really heard by the driver. Therefore, places which are too close to the motor or to the exhaust pipe are not adequate.

2. Vibrations which are transmitted to the control device will cause errors in the measurement and thus reduce the endurance of the electronics. Please use always an elastic fastener but not too loose-fitting.

3. Choose a splash-proof position and avoid an attachment too close to the ignition coil or ignition cables, because this could lead to interfering signals.

Appropriate places in motorbikes are generally:

In the rear behind the seat, under the seat, in the casing, in one of the side cases or the top case, in the tank backpack or if applicable, in the sidecar. In rally or racing cars the best place is inside the car in the middle of the roof.

When you have found an appropriate position, you can start mounting. To make the work easier for you, a large velcro fastener is already enclosed.

On one of the narrow sides of the control device you will find some trimmers. It is recommended to mount the device in such a way, that the trimmers can be regulated easily. A warming up of the electronics box is normal.

The power supply

The PowerCom motorbike communication system is designed for the 12V power of the vehicle battery and is fuse-protected with maximum 1 Ampere!

By an electronic power disconnection during undervoltage your main battery is protected from over-discharging.

With cable connection to the helmet the PowerCom system automatically powersoff when plugging out the helmet connectors. Therefore it is possible to connect it with an 1A fuse directly to the vehicle battery, if the ignition line is not found. (In this case, it is important that the helmet connections are kept dry as otherwise the automatic switch-off might not work and battery discharge is possible!)

Cable or Bluetooth-to-helmet

If the blue wire is connected to battery negative pole (black), the system is automatically switched-off if no helmet is connected and the monitor for the microphone switch is active. This functions are not possible when using Bluetoothto-the-helmets. To use this feature cut off the blue wire! If other wired helmets are used, the input sensitivity can be adjusted by connecting to battery positive pole.

For pairing / operate the Bluetooth-to-helmet connections please read the manual

"PB-HC2 and integrated PowerCom Bluetooth Gateway".

Additional comfort functions

With this connection it is possible to mute the m icrophone-switch-voice-monitor with Bluetooth-to helmet for clear sound and switch off the GPS signal for pillion

(put it into the background, while talking).

Automatic power-on for additional equipment

The connection “Relais control line” (green wire) is connected to the battery negative pole at the activated system. With a relay cable set additional equipment like car radio or two-way radio can be activated automatically (master/slave function), for this feature the automatic helmet detection has to be activated (blue wire connected) .

Prevention of interferences with electrical equipment of the vehicle

Motorbikes are normally not very well dejamed. The control device of the

PowerCom motorbike communication system is equipped with a filter against the electronic interferences which overlay the power supply. The version with the hands-free kit for two-way radio or mobile phone is additionally equipped with a special case for screening against electromagnetic interferences. Nevertheless, you should consider the following when mounting:

· Don't install the cables near any ignition device or ignition cable

· Use only one ground connection for all devices

· The housing should be insulated from metallic chassis parts

· Let the vehicle as well as possible dejam (spark plug, etc.).

· Don't operate 2-wa y radio or cell phone too close to control device

· Only use equipment that is EMC-safe. 1

We assume no liability for any reduced usage caused by interferences of the motorbike or other equipment!

Mounting of the helmet connector socket

Please install the helmet connector socket using the enclosed cable fixer. Make sure to place it on the break protection sleeve as shown in the picture. Fixed like this the plug connection can not tilt on accidental or forced disruption.

Cable fixer

The helmet connections are extensively weatherproof. If despite sealing water comes between the contacts, a feedback between loudspeaker and microphone line is unavoidable. In this case the amplifier outputs switch down. If you hear a screech, switch off the electronic box immediately!

To dry wet connections we recommend to blow them out and spray our

WET.Protect E-Motorbike from time to time.

Which helmet sets are suitable?

The PowerCom system is designed for an operation with high speed driving noises.

The helmet microphones and loudspeakers used should therefore be qualified for high volume ranges. At the same time the microphone must suppress the driving noise, the wind noise and the impact sound noise as far as possible and has to be able for automatic helmet detection. An ideal operation can only be achieved with the appropriate original AKE PowerCom helmet sets .

At PowerCom systems with Bluetooth interface for helmets, please use the

PowerCom-optimised version of the AKE Bluetooth helmet sets.

¹) Electro Magnetic Compatibility. Some two-way radios, etc. are very sensitive to interferences passed down e.g. by the connecting cable to the microphone input.

Basic setting of the road noise compensation

First choose, depending on the mounting position, one of the possible basic trimer settings:

Regulating the road noise compensation for voice control

If you do not use a helmet microphone, you can ignore this section.

Since the exact driving noise compensation depends on many factors like vehicle type, assembling position, type of helmet, microphone position and manner of driving, a really ideal trimming can only be achieved while in operation.

For fine regulating now choose, starting by the basic setting, an operation mode where a helmet microphone is needed, e.g. Intercom, two-way radio or mobile phone (for using radio with VOX, the voice threshold is raised to avoid an activation by mistake.)

If there are difficulties to have the helmet microphones acti-vated at high speed driving, you should carefully correct the left trimmer (in case this one is already

turned as far as it will go, then use the right trimmer) to the left (negative).

If the helmet microphones are activated too easily at high speed driving, correct the left trimmer carefully (in case this one is already turned as far as it will go, then use the right trimmer) to the right (positive).

When driving the next time you should try to find out if it ded, you should stop every time to regulate and then drive on until you find the ideal setting.)

The automatic intercom disconnection when driving solo

Every PowerCom version has the intercom muted when driving solo, that means when only one helmet is connected. This way an unintentional activation of the helmet microphone, e.g. while singing along, will certainly be avoided.

Be aware, however, that when using a two-way radio VOX and/or mobile phone the helmet microphone will have to be in stand-by mode. (VOX is always activated when using the two-way radio iVOX-connector without an operating control unit.)

Adjusting the intercom voice volume

The correct voice volume has already been adjusted.

If the helmets used suppress the road noise insufficiently or the helmet speakers are mounted disadvantageously so that the voice is hardly understood, you can increase the volume using the trimmer “INTERCOM VOLUME”. Just keep in mind, that your own voice should not be heard too loud.

Adjusting the voice modulation of 2-way radios and mobile phones

All the devices of the PowerCom-series with 2-way radio or mobile phone handsfree equipment have a modulation output with automatic level switching on external input and are therefore qualified for the connection of 2-way radios and/or mobile phones with a microphone input for dynamic or electret microphones.

With the trimmer “2-WAY-RADIO MIC LEVEL” or “PHONE MIC LEVEL” the voice volume can additionally be adjusted in such a way, that the voice at the receiving device will be heard neither too low or overdriven.

Adjusting the voice volume to high-speed driving is not necessary. The driving

noise compensated modulation of the PowerCom electronic makes sure, that the ideal setting will be maintained at any driving speed.

Hands-free kit for car radio, CD player, etc.

All versions of the PowerCom system with an audio hands-free kit can be connected with various equipment like car radio, miniature radio, MP3-stick, CDplayer, etc. The connection to the loudspeaker output or to the headset output is made by the optionally available audio adapter.

Please remove the protective cap at the PowerCom control device, marked [A].

Plug in the adapter and slide the supplied weather protection centrically over the plug connection. Now take the cable (not close to the ignition wires) and connect the other end with your audio system.

The fit-for-motorbike hands-free kit will provide you with the following combinations for your convenience: o Automatic volume control of the audio signal depending on road noise o Volume lowering of the audio signal while intercom voice operation with agreeable soft fading o Stereo transmission possible (mind road traffic regulations!) o Driver audio safety system which can be activated alternatively o Using the optional device, the audio signal of the driver may be muted at any times

Hands-free kit of navigation system

All PowerCom versions with hands-free kit for navigation systems offer the possibility to connect a navigation system with voice announcement.

There is a connection possible for high level output (loudspeaker) or low level output (headphone). The connection is provided with an optionally available adapter for navigation systems.

Please remove the protective cap at the PowerCom control device, marked [N].

Plug in the adapter and slide the supplied weather protection centrically over the plug connection. Now take the cable (not close to the ignition wires) and connect the other end with your navigation system.

The fit-for-motorbike hands-free kit will provide you with the following combinations for your convenience: o Automatic volume control of the navigation signal depending on road noise o Volume lowering of the audio signal (music) during voice announcements

o Two channel operation possible. Connection of stereo devices possible

Hands-free kit of two-way radio

All PowerCom versions with hands-free kit for two-way radio offer the possibility to connect CB, LPD, PMR and other two-way radios. The connection is provided with an optionally available adapter for two-way radio systems.

Please remove the protective cap at the PowerCom control device, marked [F].

The antenna of the two -way radio should not be positioned close to the PowerCom control unit. The VOX must be disconnected, if applicable.

Sub-audio-sound, like

CTCSS and DCS should only be switched on if absolutely necessary.

Please mind the National Communication Law when using two-way radios.

Hands-free kit via smart connection

All PowerCom plus versions with smart connection can also be connected to devices that require a duplex and a stereo connection. This can be for example

Smartphones, or other combi-devices. The connection can be made either via optional connection cable or Bluetooth.

With Zumo 660, the microphone cable connection is blocked with received phone signal (even with background noise). This may make the impression that the voice has breaks or is not to hear from the partner!

For the Bluetooth connection we recommend our Bluetooth Accessory

Adapter PB-AA D&S . In all variants of the new PowerCom plus Bluetooth series, with the PB-AA D&S the Bluetooth connection to the helmet automatically switched to stereo when no duplex voice connection is required (eg music from your smartphone when driving solo).

Connection of a dictating machine or camcorder, etc.

All PowerCom versions with hands-free kit for two-way radio offer also the possibility to connect a camcorder or a dictating machine. The connection is provided with an optionally available adapter. Very nice is for example to make a life

recording of a bike tour with a digicam and the sound recording with the helmet microphone.

Using an optional operating device

It is possible to connect an operating device to The PowerCom system but basically an operation is possible without such an operating device (VOX, testmode and pairing with code plugs).

Please fasten the operating device in such a way that it is easily accessible

(remove protective plastic film, clean adhesive surface thoroughly). Take the cable in such a way to the control device that the motility of the steering bar is not affected. Remove the protective cap at the PowerCom control device marked [ R and plug in the optional operating device. If necessary, slide the weather protection centrically over the plug connection.

Only applicable to order. Please consider that, when using 3 or 4 helmets, the power-on automatic is only activated with the driver’s and pillion driver’s helmet .

Important advice for the sound volume

The power amplifier has a overcharge switch-off for the loudspeakers. When the volume is too loud, the amplifier exit will temporarily be shut down. In such a case it is essential to reduce the volume, a damage of the loudspeakers might otherwise be possible! Especially when using ear protection plugs the volume is adjusted at a much higher level as usually.

Absolutely do not use a higher volume than necessary!

Your hearing can be damaged by a volume that is too high.

Additionally, the driver’s concentration on the traffic is not ensured any more.
