Shredder DIN Level Classifications
In 2013, document destruction security level
specifications identified in DIN 32757 were
replaced with the new DIN 66399 specifications.
The new DIN 66399 had implications on the
shredding security levels that were previously in
place.
WHAT CHANGED?
• 7 security levels of protection are defined within
DIN 66399, where prior to 2013 there were only
5 security levels.
• There are specific classification levels dependent
upon the type of media being destroyed; for example, there are different levels specified for paper vs. CDs and DVDs vs. Hard Disks.
