U-Shaped Safety Assist Bar
Great for around your Shower / Tub Handles
Installation Manual
EASY INSTALLATION
To install the U-Shaped Safety Assist Bar you purchased, locate an appropriate position over your bathroom shower / tub
faucet, (not included), with sufficient space on wall. Location should allow for securing into at least one wall stud. Ensure the
faucet handle can move freely without conflict with the Safety Assist Bar.
1) Use a stud sensor to locate the wall studs.
2) Hold the safety assist bar at the desired location over your bathroom
faucet on the wall. Mark the position of each mounting bracket
of the safety assist bar on the wall, ensuring stud location to secure mounting.
Use heavy duty wall toggles/molly when drilling into substrate with no studs.
(see installation recommendations below)
3) Detach the mounting plates inside the brackets by using
Hex Key (provided) to unscrew the locking pins at the pin-hole
on the side of each bracket.
Hold the mounting plate on the marked position of each
bracket on the wall, and then mark the screw hole locations
on wall through the mounting plates.
4) Take away the mounting plates. Drill holes at the marked screw
hole locations. Use a special tipped drill bit if drilling through tile/marble.
5) Install all the mounting plates first to the wall with the stainless steel
screws provided. Then mount the safety assist bar to the secured mounting
plates on wall by screwing back the locking pins through the pin-hole
on the side of each bracket with the Hex Key.
Installing into Wall with Wood Studs :
Drill 5/32” holes into studs or backing of wall according to the marked screw hole position of each mounting plate.
Use stud sensor to locate stud. Install mounting plates with #10 stainless steel screws (provided).
Important: Mounting to a secure stud ensures weight limits to be in compliance with ADA and
Safety recommendations.
* When wood studs are not available at the desired location, a grab bar fastening system is recommended to meet ADA
and Safety requirements. (not included, available at most hardware / home centers)
Installing into Dry Wall (no studs) :
Drill 1/2” holes according to the marked screw hole position of each mounting plate. Then, install mounting plates with
3/16” x 3” toggle bolts (not included) for each mounting plate, or specialty grab bar fastening system.
* When wood studs are not available, a grab bar fastening system is recommended to meet ADA and
Safety requirements. (not included, available at most hardware / home centers)
Installing into Tile Wall :
Use a stud sensor to locate the wall studs. On ceramic tiles, try to locate screw hole(s) on grout line on a marked stud.
If mounting on tile surface, use masking tape to mark & to prevent sliding during drilling. Drill holes with a 1/4” glass drill
bit according to the marked screw hole position of each mounting plate. Install #10 plastic anchors, and mount with #10
stainless steel screws (provided) for each mounting plate.
* When wood studs are not available, a grab bar fastening system is recommended to meet ADA and
Safety requirements. (not included, available at most hardware / home centers)
Important
: To check if the safety assist bar is securely mounted after assembly, pull the safety assist bar outward and push downward. If loose
or not mounted properly; unscrew the safety assist bar and re-adjust the mounting location with better support on wall.
: Safety Assist Bar should only be installed on area of wall structurally sound as suggested above. If you are not sure, consult with a
qualified contractor. Do not install on shower enclosure with insufficient construction strength.
