SPOTLIGHT ON DRESS CODE
The Rules and Bye-Laws on Member dress requirements are intended to complement Members’ experience at the
Club and to help ensure that they and their guests are presentably dressed in a manner consistent with the character
and standing of the Club.
Your support in upholding Club etiquette and dress code makes the difference and affirms Tanglin as a premier Club.
We have prepared a summary of Club dress requirements as a quick guide, for your easy reference. For full, up-todate and complete information on dress requirements, please refer to the current Club Bye-Laws, which are available
on our website.
CLUB STANDARD IN ALL PARTS OF THE CLUB
Gentlemen:
Shirt or polo shirt with collar, trousers and closed type shoes. Socks to be worn in the Churchill Room
Formal national attire of the wearer.
Ladies: Dress or skirt or trousers with suitable top and shoes. Formal national attire of the wearer.
Boys: Shirt or polo shirt with collar; trousers or shorts; with closed type shoes.
Girls: Dress or skirt or trousers or shorts with suitable top or blouse and shoes.
There are some permitted exceptions to the Club Standard, as set out below.
CHURCHILL ROOM
On Saturdays, proper jeans may be worn. On Sunday, proper jeans, bermudas and casual footwear (flip-flops and
slippers excluded) may be worn.
TANG YUN
On Saturdays and Sundays, proper jeans, bermudas and casual footwear (flip-flops and slippers excluded) may be
worn. (ONGOING TRIAL)
TAVERN, FIREPLACE, CINEMA AND LIBRARY
Proper jeans and smart trainers or similar shoes are permitted. On Sundays, bermudas and casual footwear (flipflops and slippers excluded) may be worn in the Fireplace. Shorts are permitted in the Cinema.
TERRACE DINING AREA, WET BAR, WHEELHOUSE RESTAURANT AND JACKPOT ROOM
Proper jeans, collarless t-shirts (singlets excluded), shorts, open type sandals, jogging or trainers (but not flip-flops
or slippers unless outdoors near the swimming pool) and military fatigues or similar dress are permitted. In the nonair-conditioned part of the Wheelhouse Restaurant, a bathrobe, towel, shirt or similar clothing over a swimming
costume is permitted.
SPORTS COMPLEX AND TANGLES
Appropriate sports attire and shoes, jeans, shorts, open type sandals, jogging or trainer shoes and military fatigues
or equivalent dress.
BILLIARDS ROOM
Jeans, jogging or training shoes.
NOT PERMITTED IN THE CLUB
Cut, frayed tattered or dirty items of dress or items of clothing featuring racist, anti-religious or offensive slogans or
wordings. Wearing of outdoor headgear within the Main Clubhouse, other than personal religious headgear.
Dress code may be varied by the General Committee for particular events or functions. Such variations will be
made clear in the publicity for such events or functions.
