UPC Modem Quickstart
Guide
To use UPC Internet, UPC Television or a UPC Telephone, always first
connect the modem

Thank you for choosing UPC services. Follow these step-by-step
instructions to set up your modem.
To ensure proper functioning of the Internet, Horizon interactive
television or your telephone, you must first connect your
modem.

2. Connection Method
In the event of exchange of modem for another type, use the current connecting cable D
and the new power supply B .
Connecting the UPC Internet service independently
or in combination with other services (UPC Television
and UPC Telephone)
1.Connect the terminal marked cable on the modem A to the customer wall outlet (see
diagram below) using coaxial cable D and tighten the terminals using the supplied wrench
E (tighten the terminals only if you have received a cable with an F-type twist connector).

2. You can connect a PC to the modem A in two ways:
a)Connect the modem A to an electrical outlet using the power supply B and
connect to the modem using Wi-Fi (see procedure below)
b)Connect the modem A and the PC using the supplied UTP cable C . Connect the
cable to the modem, using any of the jacks marked ETHERNET or
. Connect the
modem A to an electrical outlet through the power supply B

onnect the telephone handset to the modem A (if you have ordered UPC Telephone
C
service). If you have ordered the telephone service, unpack the telephone F
and connect it to the modem A . To do this, use the cable included with the telephone,
which you plug into the TEL1 jack on the modem A .
4.
Connect
the HD Mediabox (for UPC TV, if you have ordered it). For proper functioning of
interactive services (video library, if ordered or retrospective viewing) you must connect
the HD Mediabox to the modem A . Perform the connection according to the diagram
below, using an Ethernet cable (included in the Mediabox packaging). The complete
connection process is shown in the diagram in the HD Mediabox Quickstart Guide.
Connecting the UPC Telephone or UPC Television Services
Independently (without UPC Internet)
1.
Connect the terminal marked cable on the modem A to the customer wall outlet (see
diagram below) using coaxial cable D and tighten the terminals using the supplied wrench
E (tighten the terminals only if you have received a cable with an F-type twist connector).
2.
Connect the modem A to an electrical outlet using the power supply B .
3.
Connect the telephone handset to the modem A (if you have ordered the UPC
Telephone service). If you have subscribed to the telephone service, unpack the telephone F and connect it to the modem A . To do this, use the cable included with the
telephone, which you plug into the TEL1 jack on the modem A .

onnect the HD Mediabox (for UPC TV, if you have ordered it). For proper functioning of

interactive services (video library, if ordered or retrospective viewing) you must connect
the HD Mediabox to the modem A . Perform the connection according to the diagram
below, using an Ethernet cable (included in the Mediabox packaging). The complete
connection process is shown in the diagram in the HD Mediabox Quickstart Guide.
Modem Indicator Lights
If everything is functioning properly, within a few minutes the indicator lights on the front panel of
the modem will light up according to the type of device (see figure below), and you can begin using
the services you have ordered.

The Service is provided from the day on which the technician has successfully put the end
location into operation (i.e. the subscriber’s outlet in your home) or when he has handed over
the self-installation package to you, if the end point is already in operation.
If, after installation, the service is not working, check the network connection settings on your
PC, as described below in this guide. Other tips are available at www.upc.cz in the Customer
Care section or on the CD enclosed with Guide to the Internet, video manuals and other

3. Connect Using Wi-Fi
1. The delivered equipment is already preconfigured for wireless operation. The name
of the default network (e.g. SSID: UPC495317) and the default password for the network
(e.g. Password: OMPIYZDY) can be found on the label on the underside of the modem.
Caution: when entering the password it is necessary to distinguish uppercase and
lowercase letters!
2.
Open Network Connections on your PC:
– Click on Wireless Network Connection.
– The system will find available networks, select the network matching the name on
the modem label modem (e.g. UPC495317).
– Click Connect and enter the password shown on the label on the underside of the
modem.
– click on Connect.
3.If the PC is not connected to the Internet, verify that the TCP / IP protocol on your
PC for wireless network connection is set to dynamic IP address. The procedure for
different operating systems can be found further in this manual.
TIP: Detailed setup of TCP/IP protocol is
described on the enclosed CD.
Note: The label may vary depending on the
local setting or requirements.
4. Securing Your Wi-Fi Network
For Technicolor TC7200
or Ubee EVW3226 modems:
- Enter 192.168. 0. 1 in your browser’s search bar and a login window will open.
- Log in to the modem interface. The user name and password are both admin.
- After logging in, click on WIRELESS in the top bar.
- Here in the Basic wireless connection setup field, change the default SSID network
name and enter Save (this name of the Wi-Fi network will then appear on your device
when you search for available wireless networks).
- Select Security settings on the left section of the screen, and here you can change
your password.
- Finally, don’t forget to Save your settings.
Procedure for the Compal CH7465LG Modem
- Enter 192.168. 0. 1 into the address bar of your Web browser, and
a login window will open.
- Log in to the modem interface. The user name and password are both
admin.
- After logging in, click on Advanced Settings in the left hand menu,
then Wireless, and Security. Here you can change the network name
(SSID) and password.
- Finally, do not forget to save your settings using Apply Changes.
5. Network Connection Setup
If, after connecting the modem following these instructions, your computer fails to connect
to the Internet, check your network connection settings as described below for the different
operating systems.
For Windows XP
Click on the buttons START > CONTROL PANELS > NETWORK CONNECTIONS, to access
the Local Network Connection icon, right-click on Properties, and check the Internet
Protocol box. Then choose Properties, check the boxes Get address IP automatically
and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Select OK and close all open windows.
For Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10
Click START> CONTROL PANELS> NETWORK CENTER> MANAGE NETWORK CONNECTIONS
to access the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION icon, where you can right-click with the mouse and
select Properties, and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Then select Internet
Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties. Now check the boxes Obtain an IP
address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Repeat this procedure
for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), then click OK and close all windows
For Windows 8
Move the mouse to the upper right corner of the screen. Click on the Settings icon, then select
Control Panels. In the Control Panels window, click the Network and Internet, icon, or the Network
Connections and Sharing Center icon, respectively. In the next window, click Change adapter
settings. In the right pane, click on the active wired or wireless connection, right click and select
Properties. Check Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Then select Internet Protocol Version
4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties. Now check the box Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address automatically. Repeat this procedure for Internet Protocol Version 6
(TCP/IPv6), then click OK and close all windows.
