MBRM Business Solution assists clients with new International Accounting Standards (IAS) and Basel II
regulations. This service assists clients in meeting Compliance, Operational Risk and cost savings.
An example of this includes the understanding of losses through the software component "The MBRM
Operational Loss Database" (a .NET internet/intranet based Operational Loss Database). The Operational
Loss Database offers potential for data-mining of reasons for losing money.
This gives users deeper insight into making future cost savings. It is also a requirement for meeting
compliance of Basel II regulations at the Advanced level for operational risk certification.
To supplement the Operational Risk software, and to ensure users have maximum benefit from it (as well
as to customise it to any specific requirements you may have), MBRM do offer a consultancy support
service alongside the software.
You can try out for free the internet based demonstration prototype of the MBRM Operational Loss
Database software (subject to MBRM's standard terms http://www.mbrm.com/terms.htm). Just Click on
Web address: "http://www.mbrmnet3.co.uk/Oprisk". We have already established users and
passwords for you with limited access.
We ask that you do not change or delete the existing data
(but you can add/change/delete your own records).

{Overview}
The prototype system is aimed at managing banking capital through analysing the Loss Database and
reducing the likelihood of loses in future. Due to increased regulatory requirements for reporting a firm's
operational risk methodology, as well as analysis by credit reference agencies, utilisation of The MBRM
Operational Loss Database could potentially lead to reduced cost of funding and improved liquidity for a
firm's securities due to increased investor confidence in the internal risk management of a firm.
Business procedures and checks in screens "Prevention" and "Loss Status Tracking" enable users to see
to what degree company risk management is exercised. The top level of risk checks are outlined in screen
"Control". On the basis of this risk assessment, a bank can make its case for meeting Basel regulatory
capital requirements. The bottom risk level is outlined in screen "Basic Capital Charge". Standard and
Advanced risk certification will also derive their own capital charge levels. This could reduce the amount
of regulatory capital required, thus potentially increasing the return on capital.
Errors in losses and their corresponding specific information in screen “Error Log” allow users to keep
track of the errors in losses and by which party and department have been originated, and when that
happened. Also, gives the users the ability to customize the data according to their departments. With a
complete information table about losses, the user can easily find information about any specific one.
The "The MBRM Operational Loss Database" is a sub-system of the Universal MBRM System
which utilises the Universal Add-ins for the analytical engine. The analytics can be performed
either locally or on a calculation server. The architecture is built around Windows 32 bit (i.e.
Windows 95/98/NT) and any Windows compliant database (e.g. Microsoft SQL server, Sybase,
Oracle). Flexible report writing facilities are provided to ensure full access and analysis to the
data.
The system is offered with a full range of services, including training, customisation and
installation support. Full source code can also be provided, thus enabling total in-house control
of the system.
An interface available to allow data to be automatically transferred into The MBRM Operational
Loss Database from another system (e.g. accounting general ledger, Nostro reconciliation system
or spreadsheet applications).
